How does the disease of Chong She (Double Tongue) arise? Using Dan Fan (Alum) and Er Cha (Catechu) prepared together, after pricking with a needle and blowing the powder onto the lesion, the patient will smile and recover.
Most of these diseases follow established principles; if the toxin can be expelled through vomiting, it is a miraculous prescription.
Otherwise, if the toxin enters the Heart Palace, one must fear that life may perish in an instant.
Chan Hou Feng (Throat-Entangling Wind) arises below the Hou E (Tonsils). It may entangle from left to right or from right to left. This is caused by Heat-Toxin of the Heart and Lung attacking upwards; its toxicity is most fierce. If the physician is not a divine hand, nine out of ten patients will not survive.
When observing this symptom, if the swelling does not entangle past the Jie Hou (Adam's Apple), five or six out of ten can be cured; if it entangles past the throat, only one or two out of ten can be cured. This requires a physician of exquisite skill to achieve such results.
At the initial stage, moxibustion should be applied to both Jian Jing (GB21), Qu Chi (LI11), and San Li (ST36) acupoints to disperse the toxin between the upper and lower body. Additionally, puncturing both Shang Shang (LU11) acupoints with a three-edged needle to release blood also helps drain the toxin. One must absolutely avoid applying fire moxibustion to the head.
If fire therapy is mistakenly applied, nine out of ten patients will not survive. This condition is known as escaping death, involving further suffering of shedding skin and flesh.
It is suitable to take Ba Du Qiang Huo Yin (Toxin-Expelling Notopterygium Decoction) and Jie Du Sheng Ma Tang (Toxin-Clearing Cimicifuga Decoction). Externally, apply a small amount of poultice to expel toxins from both inside and outside, allowing internal resolution and recovery.
If external ulceration occurs, there is still a path to survival. After ulceration, use Wan Ling Gao (Myriad Spirits Ointment) to promote tissue regeneration. If the abscess head is inside the mouth, it is also harmless. Frequently rinse the mouth with Jiao Yan Hui Xiang Tang (Pepper Salt Fennel Decoction) to resolve foul odors. Peace is achieved only when the pus is completely drained.
