猪心一片，井水盅半，煎一钟，食前温服。
陈皮一两，青皮、诃子肉，粉草(炙)各五钱。丁香
二钱，共为末，每服二钱，未周岁者，只服五分，水煎。
如感寒吐泄，加姜枣。

惊啼者，邪热乘于心也。当养心，以导赤散加灯心退心热，
以安神丸定心效。
热烦啼者，其哭无泪，见灯则喜而止，以导赤散加麦冬、栀子
仁治之。
腹痛啼者，脾脏冷而痛也，面青而光。以温中药调理中气，
益黄散治之。
神不安啼者，睡中忽觉自哭，以安神丸，灯心烧灰，调汤吞
服。
又有拂其性而拗哭者，要审明白，不可妄投药丸。
祖传治夜啼：以至圣保命丹，灯心灰调汤下，甚效。

小儿夜啼四症，忤惊肚痛心烦，如逢拗哭忤家言，睡中忽啼

灯花散
用灯花七枚，辰砂一分，研末。灯草汤吞。

Ginseng Radix (Renshen) and Angelicae Sinensis Radix (Danggui), each 3 qian; one male pig heart, sliced into three pieces. For each piece of pig heart, use 2 qian of herbs. Decoct with half a cup of well water until reduced to one cup. Take warm before meals.
Scutellariae Radix (Huangqin), Ginseng Radix (Renshen), Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma (Baizhu), Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Gancao, roasted), Angelicae Sinensis Radix (Danggui), and Ophiopogonis Radix (Maidong). Decoct with water and take.
Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium (Chenpi), 1 liang; Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Viride (Qingpi), Myrobalani Fructus (Hezi Rou), and Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Fengcao, roasted), each 5 qian; Syzygii Aromatisimi Flos (Dingxiang), 2 qian. Grind all into powder. Take 2 qian per dose. For infants under one year old, take only 0.5 qian. Decoct with water. If vomiting and diarrhea occur due to cold invasion, add Zingiberis Rhizoma (Jiang) and Jujubae Fructus (Zao).
Angelicae Sinensis Radix (Danggui), Ginseng Radix (Renshen), Scutellariae Radix (Huangqin), Paeoniae Radix Alba (Baishao), Rehmanniae Radix (Shengdi), Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Gancao, roasted), Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma (Baizhu), Poria (Baifuling), and Chuanxiong Rhizoma (Chuanxiong) [if Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata (Fuzi) is added, remove Poria and Chuanxiong], and a pinch of Triticum Aestivum Semen (Fuxiaomai) as a guiding herb. Decoct with water and take.
Burn a worn-out winnowing fan made of cattail leaves (Baipushan) to ash. Mix the ash with Decocction of Junci Medullae (Dengxin Tang) for oral administration, or mix with wine.
There are four types of night crying: crying due to fright, crying due to heat and restlessness, crying due to abdominal pain, and crying due to unsettled spirit.
Crying due to fright is caused by pathogenic heat invading the Heart. One should nourish the Heart, using Daochi San (Guide Out Red Powder) plus Junci Medulla (Dengxin) to clear Heart heat, and Anshen Wan (Calming Spirit Pill) to settle the Heart and achieve efficacy.
Crying due to heat and restlessness is characterized by crying without tears, and the infant likes the light and stops crying when exposed to it. Treat with Daochi San (Guide Out Red Powder) plus Ophiopogonis Radix (Maidong) and Gardeniae Semen (Zhizi Ren).
Crying due to abdominal pain is caused by cold in the Spleen leading to pain, with a bluish and lustrous complexion. Regulate the Middle Qi with warming middle herbs, and treat with Yihuang San (Benefit Yellow Powder).
Crying due to unsettled spirit is characterized by sudden waking and crying during sleep. Use Anshen Wan (Calming Spirit Pill), and burn Junci Medulla (Dengxin) to ash, mixing with soup for swallowing.
There are also cases of crying due to frustration of temperament or opposition to family members' words. These must be carefully examined; do not administer pills recklessly.
Ancestral prescription for treating night crying: Use Zhisheng Baoming Dan (Supreme Sage Preserving Life Pill), mixed with ash of Junci Medulla (Dengxin) in soup. It is very effective.
Xijiang Yue (Song Ci):
Night crying in children involves four syndromes: opposition/fright, abdominal pain, and mental restlessness. If it occurs due to opposition or hearing words from conflicting family members, or sudden crying and fright during sleep. Abdominal pain presents with cold extremities, curved waist, and icy breath. Heart heat presents with restlessness and insomnia, characterized by a red face and warm abdomen.
Having distinguished the symptoms of night crying, the treatment methods must be clear. Teach them clearly to the world; sincerity is required. For opposition/fright, use Anshen Wan (Calming Spirit Pill); Lizhong treats Spleen pain; Liangjing Ding (Cooling Fright Tablet) treats mental restlessness; always use Denghua Miao San (Wonderful Powder of Lamp Flower).
Denghua San (Powder of Lamp Flower)
Use seven lamp flowers (Denghua) and one fen of Cinnabar (Chensha). Grind into powder. Swallow with Decocction of Junci Caulis (Dengcao Tang).
