Any wind-stroke caused by factors that are neither internal nor external follows the principle of similarity. For instance, wind-strike after washing hair is called Shou Feng (Head Wind); wind-strike after drinking alcohol is called Lou Feng (Leaking Wind), also known as Jiu Feng (Alcohol Wind); wind-strike after sexual intercourse is called Nei Feng (Internal Wind), also known as Lao Feng (Labor Wind). Each has its specific treatment formula.
For treating wind-strike to the head after washing, characterized by excessive sweating and aversion to wind, symptoms typically worsen one day before the onset, with severe headache preventing going out, improving slightly on the day itself; this condition is named Shou Feng (Head Wind).
Da Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata, one piece, processed, peel and umbilicus removed) Salt (equal amount)
Grind the above two ingredients into powder. After washing, apply a measure of one square inch of the powder to massage the affected area, allowing the medicinal power to penetrate.
For treating wind-strike after drunkenness, characterized by aversion to wind, excessive sweating, shortness of breath, dry mouth, frequent thirst, feeling hot like fire when near clothing, sweating profusely like bathing during meals, flaccidity of joints, and reluctance to exert oneself; this condition is named Lou Feng (Leaking Wind).
Zexie (Alismatis Rhizoma) Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma) (each 1 liang) Mixian (Dipsaci Radix) (0.5 liang)
Grind the above ingredients into powder. Take 2 qian per dose, mixed with wine as desired, taken before meals.
For treating wind-strike after sexual intercourse, characterized by aversion to wind, excessive sweating soaking clothes, dry mouth with upward rushing sensation, inability to perform laborious tasks, and generalized body pain; this condition is named Nei Feng (Internal Wind).
Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix, raw, peel and umbilicus removed) Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma) (each 0.5 liang) Huixiang (Foeniculi Fructus) (stir-fried) Fuling (Poria) Shanyao (Dioscoreae Rhizoma) (each 1 fen) Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) (roasted) Ganjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma) (processed, each 3 fen)
Crush the above ingredients into a coarse powder. Take 4 da qian per dose, with 2 zhan of water, 3 slices of ginger, and a little salt; decoct until reduced to 7/10 volume, remove dregs, and take before meals.
Cold pathogen is a lethal qi of heaven and earth; in heaven it manifests as cold, in earth as water, and in human viscera corresponds to the Kidney; thus, cold pathogen tends to invade the Kidney. When cold invades the Kidney, it often causes spasms, cramps, pain, coma, and loss of consciousness. If accompanied by wind, it leads to vertigo; if accompanied by dampness, it results in swelling and pain. Treatment should exclusively use warming agents; emetic or purgative methods are contraindicated as they oppose the pathology. Although cold pathogen favors the Kidney, all five viscera can be invaded. If cold strikes the exterior of meridians and collaterals, it is easily dispersed; if it enters the interior, it is difficult to eliminate. Its pulse and symptom patterns are identical to Shanghan (Cold Damage), differing only in severity. Cases where the primary organ is directly struck by cold are recorded in classical texts and must be clearly distinguished. Detailed discussion is found in the Shanghan section.
