When the patient has abdominal fullness, tightness connecting the throat to the lingual frenulum, chest and diaphragm stuffiness and fullness, and pain extending from along the tibia down to the anterior medial aspect of the thigh, the inner malleolus, behind the calcaneal tuberosity, connecting to the medial end of the big toe, this is caused by the flow and accumulation of the four pathogenic factors (wind, cold, summer-heat, dampness) in the Foot-Taiyin Spleen Meridian. The predominance of the four factors is as described previously. Treatment should follow the severity of the pathogenic invasion, using warming and dispersing methods accordingly.
