附骨疽与白虎飞尸、 节风皆相类。 节,则走注不定;白虎飞尸痛浅,按之则便;
[Ptoad Ointment] Treats all kinds of redness and swelling caused by wind-heat toxic pathogens, as well as stagnation of zang-fu qi, toxicity triggered by Dan Shi (cinnabar and other mineral drugs), which condense into carbuncles, sores, and scrofula. For various sores and swellings that have not yet ulcerated, it causes them to dissipate; for the nine types of foul ulcers (chronic lymphatic tuberculosis or chronic ulcers) spreading with dripping pus, which fail to heal under other treatments, this formula is indicated.
Bai Lian (Ampelopsis Radix), Bai Wei (Cynanchum Atratum Radix), Bai Ji (Bletilla Rhizoma), Bai Zhi (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix), Xie Bai (Allii Macrostemonis Bulbus) (each 0.5 liang, chopped and washed, decocted in 1 jin of clear sesame oil until reduced to 0.5 jin, filtered to remove dregs and added); Huang Gan Song (Nardostachys Radix), Huo Xiang (Pogostemonis Herba), Ling Ling Xiang (Lingzhi Fragrant Herb), Fang Feng (Saposhnikoviae Radix), Dang Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) (each 0.5 liang, added again to the previous oil and decocted for ten boils, filtered through cotton cloth to remove dregs and added); Ding Fen (Minium, 2 liang); Huang La (Beeswax, 3 liang); Han Shui Shi (Aragonite, calcined and water-floated, 2 liang, finely ground).
The above ingredients are decocted together until a drop forms a bead when dropped into water. Store in porcelain vessels. Sprinkle a small amount of Bing Pian (Borneolum Syntheticum) on top before use. Iron vessels must be avoided during decoction; stir with a willow branch.
Fu Gu Ju (Deep-seated bone abscess) resembles Bai Hu Fei Shi (White Tiger Flying Corpse) and Li Jie Feng (Joint-wandering Wind). Li Jie Feng is characterized by wandering pain; Bai Hu Fei Shi involves superficial pain that alleviates upon pressure; Fu Gu Ju involves deep pain where pressure is ineffective. Another view holds that Bai Hu Fei Shi can also suppurate, arising from the bone, healing only after rotting flesh ulcerates and fragmented bones are completely expelled. If so, Fu Gu Ju and Bai Hu Fei Shi are the same disease, differing only in depth. Bai Hu Fei Shi is commonly known as Feng Sha (Wind Evil). However, patients with Fu Gu Ju rarely expel bones. To eliminate toxic heat, one should not rigidly rely solely on Wu Xiang Lian Qiao Tang (Five-Spice Forsythia Decoction) or Lou Lu (Rhubarb Root) type herbs; instead, one should first warm the Kidney Qi. Ling Bao Gao (Spirit Treasure Ointment) is a miraculous remedy. The key lies in the depth of acupuncture and cauterization; piercing and extracting the root of the toxin facilitates easy recovery. Otherwise, the toxin flows along the meridians, causing generalized severe swelling, leading to sudden death.
For treating Fu Gu Ju that has not healed for a long time, with corrupted pus, or bones extruding from the sore:
Da Xia Ma (Large Ptoad, 1 piece); Luan Fa (Tangled Hair, 1 piece, size of an egg); Zhu Zhi You (Pork Fat Oil, 1 jin).
Decoct the three substances together until the first two are largely consumed. Filter to remove dregs. Cool until it solidifies into an ointment and apply to the affected area. Before applying the ointment to the sore, first wash and dry the area with a decoction of Sang Bai Pi (Morus Alba Bark) and Wu Dou (Black Soybean). Sprinkle Long Gu powder (Fossilized Bones) around the edges of the sore to facilitate contraction, then apply the medicament.
