When cooking porridge, collect the rice foam floating on the surface of the boiling pot. Add a small amount of refined salt and take it on an empty stomach. The essence will naturally become dense, leading to conception.
Geng Sheng notes: This is a secret prescription from Purple Bamboo Grove. However, one must use "porridge oil" (the thick layer of starch that forms on top of cooked congee), not the foam formed when first boiling. It refers to the concentrated juice that rolls into a mass when the porridge is nearly ready. Mr. Yuan Liaofan called it "rice liquid," stating it specifically tonifies essence; *Bencao Gangmu Shiyi* says it can solidify hair follicles and its yin-nourishing power surpasses that of prepared Rehmannia root (*Shu Di Huang*). Indeed, indeed.
A candidate for the imperial examination tried this method. On the day of the exam, he drank decoction made from fifty ginkgo nuts in the early morning, allowing him to go all day without urinating.
Roast pinellia tuber (*Ban Xia*) until dry, grind into powder, mix with rice vinegar, and apply externally. Avoid exposure to wind. Repeat as many times as necessary from morning to evening for three consecutive days. Wash with soap pod decoction (*Zao Jiao Tang*), and the face will become smooth and jade-like.
To treat postpartum breast suspension (*Ru Xuan*), where the breasts suddenly become thin and long, hanging down like intestines extending over the lower abdomen, unbearable pain ensues. Use one jin (approx. 500g) each of ligusticum chuanxiong rhizome (*Chuan Xiong*) and angelica sinensis radix (*Dang Gui*). Take half a jin, chop it up, place it in a clay vessel, add water, and decoct until thick. Drink frequently without restriction on quantity. Take the remaining half a jin, chop it into pieces, burn it in the room, and let the patient inhale the smoke. If not cured, decoct eight liang of scutellaria baicalensis radix (*Huang Qin*) and drink it. If the breast has not yet retracted, grind one castor bean (*Bi Ma Zi*) with cold water and apply it to the vertex of the head (*Baihui*, GV20). After a short while, wash it off, and it will settle naturally.
Due to excessive effort during childbirth, flesh strands protrude from the vaginal opening, measuring three to four chi in length. Touching them causes pain radiating to the heart and abdomen, nearly causing fainting. Use three jin of old ginger with skin, pound it into a paste, add two jin of sesame oil, mix well, and stir-fry until dry. First, fold five chi of cooked silk cloth into a square bag. Have someone gently lift the protruding flesh strand, coil it into a ball, and insert it back into the vagina. Then, place the silk bag containing the fried ginger near the area for fumigation. Replace when cool. Fumigate for one day and night; the strand will retract by more than half. By the second day, it will fully retract. Internally administer formulas to tonify qi and blood. This is a strange disease prescription secretly transmitted by Lady Wei. Do not allow the flesh strand to break; if broken, it cannot be treated.
Geng Sheng notes: I have seen this condition. The flesh strand was over one chi long, resembling an roundworm. It was white and as thick as rush pith, causing sharp pulling pain upon touch. Initially unaware of this prescription, I treated it using the method for breast suspension, and it also healed.
The prescription uses one jin each of ligusticum chuanxiong rhizome (*Chuan Xiong*) and angelica sinensis radix (*Dang Gui*). Decoct half a jin for oral administration. Chop the other half jin finely, burn it to produce smoke, and let the patient inhale the medicinal vapor through the mouth and nose.
