One Gualou Fruit (Trichosanthis Fructus) (crushed), added with one qian of Gancao (Licorice Root), decocted together and taken orally.
Food stagnation in the chest cannot be dispelled by Dahuang (Rhubarb Rhizome), Mangxiao (Mirabilite), Zhike (Aurantii Fructus), Binglang (Areca Seed), Houpo (Magnolia Bark) and similar herbs; only Gualou can sink and resolve it. Since entering the Spleen may cause excessive purgation, a small amount of Gancao is added to retain and harmonize the action, preventing overly violent pushing and draining. This is a modified method for atypical syndromes, superior to standard orthodox treatment.
