Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata (1.5 qian), Polygalae Radix (1 qian), Paeoniae Alba Radix (3 qian, stir-fried with wine), Angelicae Sinensis Radix (2 qian), Schisandrae Fructus (1.5 qian),
Rehmanniae Radix Praeparata (6 qian), Cinnamomi Cortex (0.5 qian), Poria (1.5 qian), Ginseng Radix (1.5 qian or 2-3 qian), Astragali Radix Praeparata (5 qian; if Ginseng is absent, double the dose), Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma (3 qian),
Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium (1.5 qian), Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma Praeparata cum Melle (1.5 qian), Zingiberis Rhizoma Praeparatum (2 qian), Jujubae Fructus (5 pieces).
First, mash the flesh of Rehmanniae Radix Praeparata and Jujubae Fructus until smooth. Stir-fry the remaining herbs and grind them into powder. Add honey to form pills. This is the "Wan Ying Yi Li Dan" (Ten-Thousand-Efficacy One-Pill Elixir) prepared by my family. For conditions such as Zhong Feng (Stroke/Wind-stroke), Shang Han (Cold Damage), Dou Zhen (Smallpox/Chickenpox), Tai Chan (Childbirth complications), Xue Zheng (Blood disorders), and Hou Bi (Sore throat), where the condition is critical and cannot be delayed even for an instant, administer one pill at a time. Crush it in boiling water and administer frequently. The condition will stabilize naturally. Subsequently, administer two or three pills, and the disease will recede. For the treatment of chronic illnesses, make smaller pills. Take 5 qian each time, twice daily (morning and evening), taken on an empty stomach with rice water.
Commentary: The above prescription primarily treats conditions caused by excessive labor, irregular eating habits, excessive worry, and deep emotional stagnation, leading to Qi and Lung deficiency, and insufficient Ying Blood (Nutritive Blood). Symptoms include aversion to cold and fever, poor appetite, weakness in the four limbs, lethargy, drowsiness, physical fatigue, emaciation, sallow complexion, shortness of breath, palpitations, restlessness, forgetfulness, and insomnia. It also treats sudden collapse due to Zhong Feng (Stroke), with open mouth, fixed gaze, relaxed hands, and urinary incontinence; severe Shang Han (Cold Damage) with delirium, stupor, grasping at empty air, and hallucinations; body tremors and erratic pulse; muscle twitching; continuous hematemesis, epistaxis, or hematochezia; spontaneous sweating, night sweats, or profuse head sweating; vomiting and diarrhea; edema and abdominal distension; vertigo and hiccups; phlegm accumulation with rapid breathing; bone and joint pain; flaccidity and numbness of the extremities; unbearable pain in the heart, abdomen, lower back, back, ribs, and hypochondrium; dysfunction of the nine orifices; malaria and dysentery unresponsive to other medicines; rectal prolapse, hemorrhoids, and fistulas that persist for years; night fevers and cough; nocturnal emission and turbid urine; amenorrhea, bloody strangury, metrorrhagia, leukorrhea in women, during pregnancy and postpartum; acute and chronic convulsions in children, malnutrition with vomiting and diarrhea, measles, and smallpox; carbuncles and sores on the back that fail to suppurate and heal; scrofula and flowing abscesses that fail to dissipate or ulcerate and close; and various miscellaneous diseases. Regardless of whether the disease is new or old, if the patient's complexion is pale and sallow, the illness worsens at night and improves during the day, and the tongue is swollen, tender, and slippery, this prescription should be administered without regard to the pulse or other symptoms, and it will invariably produce immediate results. Furthermore, if the tongue color changes from white to yellow, then to black, becoming dry and cracked, but the tongue body remains swollen and large, this indicates excessive use of cold-natured drugs leading to cold deficiency of the five Zang organs. This prescription is also essential for saving such cases. My family has long been recognized as specialists in treating critical conditions across various disciplines. In the regions of Suzhou, Zhejiang, and beyond, we have saved countless lives, and this prescription accounts for six out of ten cases of resurrection from near-death. Its broad application and miraculous efficacy are indeed too numerous to describe in detail. Here, I briefly outline its general principles for those seeking recovery.
