Zhang (6 years old): Liver water and qi are rampant. Abdominal pain with a wiry pulse. Treatment should focus on soothing the liver and purging turbidity.

Lu (6 years old): Abdominal pain for several days. Initially caused by falls, trauma, fright, and terror. The medical classics state: "Fright causes Qi to become chaotic; terror causes Qi to sink." Consequently, Qi wanders without return, so the pain lies entirely in Qi stagnation. Now that the condition is critical, it is due to the mistaken administration of anthelmintics (drugs to expel roundworms). The five flavors disturbed the Jueyin Liver collaterals, injuring the Stomach and causing anorexia. The patient does not desire food. The Guan pulse is slow and moderate; pain ceases upon pressure, and feels slightly comfortable upon stroking. The complexion appears dark and stagnant. If vomiting and regurgitation occur, this would be a favorable sign. However, now that the Earth element (Spleen/Stomach) is depleted and exhausted, it is difficult to formulate a prescription. I tentatively apply the established method of Wuji Tang, removing Ginseng, and adding Banqu (Pinellia Fermented Dough) and Guya (Grain Sprout).

Dai (11 years old): Cold pathogens reside in the Stomach. Fu-Yang (Yang of the Bowels) is not disseminated. Abdominal pain with a wiry pulse and reduced appetite. However, the Six Fu organs belong to Yang and function through unobstructed flow. The ancients said, "Where there is pain, there is obstruction."

Lu (6 years old): Yesterday, using the sweet and緩 (soothing) method of Wuji Tang, the pain has slightly decreased, and dietary intake has slightly improved. This is a fortunate opportunity for recovery. However, sweating occurs when pain strikes, indicating injury to the Heart due to fright, which subsequently injures Metal (Lung). This is damage to Zang-Qi (Visceral Qi). Previously, due to anthelmintic use, Fu-Yang had not yet recovered. At this stage, one should tonify Earth (Spleen) to drain Liver Wood, thereby supporting healthy Qi.

Yu (5 years old): Fever and abdominal pain. Previous discussion on soothing and purging was effective. However, because the child's constitution is extremely thin, pathogens took advantage of the deficiency to spread. Abdominal pain recurred, and fever persists. Pediatricians only know how to treat fright, lacking understanding of the principles of various pains in the Neijing. The formulas used were all sedating fright and resolving pain agents. Not only did the abdominal pain not subside, but constipation with hard stools developed, along with bi-sensation and heat in the lower abdomen, and cold limbs,酿成 (brewing into) a critical condition.
