热毒之邪侵入眼部，导致眼睛红肿疼痛、生翳膜，视力丧失无法看见光明者，使用大黄栀子汤。
生大黄（一两） 升麻（半两） 瞿麦 甘草（各一分） 栀子（七个）
将药材切碎，加水二升，煎煮至一升，滤去药渣，分四次温服，以大便通畅为度。若难以通便者，煎好药后，加入朴硝二分混合服用。
先煎煮其他药物至一升半，然后放入大黄；大黄事先用水浸泡，连同水一起下锅煎煮，这样能折减热势且易于通便。
治疗毒病侵入眼部，突然生出红色翳膜，或白色，或眼睑肿胀突起，或红肿疼痛，不能视物见光，病邪深入心肝二经。或者眼睑浮肿，如同吹出的汁液流出，
有白膜覆盖黑珠，或者内障看不见物体。这大多是由于病后不慎，饮酒、吃面食以及食用炙烤过的五辛食物所致，适宜服用此方频繁通利大便，方用秦皮大黄汤。
秦皮 柴胡 常山 黄芩 升麻 芍药 白蔹 枳实 甘草（各半两） 大黄（三分）
When pathogenic heat-toxin enters the eyes, causing redness, pain, formation of corneal opacities (翳), and loss of vision such that light cannot be seen, Da Huang Zhi Zi Tang (Rhubarb and Gardenia Decoction) is indicated.
Raw Radix et Rhizoma Rhei (Da Huang, 大黄) (1 liang), Radix Cimicifugae (Sheng Ma, 升麻) (0.5 liang), Herba Dianthi (Qu Mai, 瞿麦), Radix Glycyrrhizae Preparata (Gan Cao, 甘草) (each 1 fen), Fructus Gardeniae (Zhi Zi, 栀子) (7 pieces).
Crumble the herbs, add two sheng of water, decoct to one sheng, remove the dregs, and take warm in four divided doses. The dosage should be adjusted until bowel movement occurs. If difficult to achieve bowel movement, after decoction, mix with two fen of Natrii Sulfas (Pu Xiao, 朴硝) and take together.
First decoct the other herbs to one and a half sheng, then add Da Huang. Soak Da Huang in water beforehand and add it along with the water; this method helps to reduce heat and facilitates easier bowel movement.
To treat toxic disease entering the eyes, suddenly causing red opacities, or white ones, or swollen eyelids protruding, or redness and pain preventing vision of light, with the pathogen affecting the Heart and Liver meridians. Or eyelid edema resembling exuded fluid,
with a membrane covering the pupil, or internal cataracts obscuring vision. This is largely due to imprudence after illness, consuming alcohol, wheat products, roasted foods, and the "Five Pungent Spices" (Wu Xin, 五辛). It is appropriate to take this formula frequently to induce purgation, using Qin Pi Da Huang Tang (Bark of Chinese Ash and Rhubarb Decoction).
Cortex Fraxini (Qin Pi, 秦皮), Radix Bupleuri (Chai Hu, 柴胡), Rhizoma Centipedrae (Chang Shan, 常山), Cortex Phellodendri Amurensis (Huang Qin, 黄芩), Radix Cimicifugae (Sheng Ma, 升麻), Radix Paeoniae Alba (Shao Yao, 芍药), Rhizoma Akebiae (Bai Lian, 白蔹), Fructus Aurantii Immaturus (Zhi Shi, 枳实), Radix Glycyrrhizae Preparata (Gan Cao, 甘草) (each 0.5 liang), Radix et Rhizoma Rhei (Da Huang, 大黄) (3 fen).
