Zheye (Radix Ophiopogonis), Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum), Gegen (Radix Puerariae), Xingren (Semen Armeniacae Amarum), Chuanxiong (Rhizoma Chuanxiong), Mahuang (Herba Ephedrae), Qianghuo (Rhizoma et Radix Notopterygii), Baiwei (Radix Cynanchi Atrati), Qingmuxiang (Fructus Tsaoko).
Mainly treats Fengwen Bing (Wind-Warmth Disease, an exogenous febrile disease caused by wind-heat pathogens). When the pathogen is located in Shaoyin Jing (Foot-Shaoyin Kidney Meridian) and Jueyin Jing (Foot-Jueyin Liver Meridian). Note: First injured by Wind, subsequently injured by Heat. Wind and Heat contend with each other, thereby forming Fengwen Bing. Therefore, Mahuang, Gegen, Qianghuo, and Chuanxiong are used to dispel Wind at the exterior; Zheye, Shigao, Xingren, and Baiwei are used to clear Heat at the exterior. Generally speaking, Wind syndromes often originate from disorders of the Jueyin Wind-Wood meridian. Thus, Qingmuxiang is used to unblock the Qi of the East (Liver belongs to Wood, direction is East), so that Wind and Heat can be easily resolved.
Gegen (Radix Puerariae), Zhimu (Rhizoma Anemarrhenae), Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum), Qianghuo (Rhizoma et Radix Notopterygii), Renshen (Radix Ginseng), Fangfeng (Radix Saposhnikoviae), Xingren (Semen Armeniacae Amarum), Chuanxiong (Rhizoma Chuanxiong), Zheye (Radix Ophiopogonis), Gancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae), Shengma (Rhizoma Cimicifugae), Nanxing (Rhizoma Arisaematis Cum Bile), Muxiang (Radix Aucklandiae), Haren (Semen Cannabis).
Mainly treats persistent fever after sweating. Note: If the pathogen is resolved through sweating, the burning heat should be eliminated. Now that sweating has occurred but the heat remains unchanged, this indicates that the medicinal force is shallow while the disease is deep. Qianghuo, Gegen, Shengma, and Fangfeng are still used to regulate the exterior; Shigao, Zhimu, Chuanxiong, and Xingren are used to resolve the muscle layer. As Wind-Heat penetrates deeper day by day, Wind-Phlegm must accumulate. Therefore, Nanxing and Muxiang are used to cleanse Phlegm. Since sweating has already been induced, the Middle Qi must be deficient. Thus, Renshen and Zheye are used to nourish the Righteous Qi. Gancao is used to harmonize, and Haren is used to moisten. Consequently, the syndrome of Wind-Heat contention will naturally be resolved through dual action.
Shengma (Rhizoma Cimicifugae), Huangjin (Folium Aurum), Ningshuishi (Alumen Exsiccatum), Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum), Xijiao (Cornu Rhinocerotis), Lingyangjiao (Cornu Saigae Tataricae), Xuanshen (Radix Scrophulariae), Chenxiang (Lignum Aquilariae Resinatum), Muxiang (Radix Aucklandiae), Dingxiang (Flos Caryophylli), Gancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae).
Mainly treats the eruption of macules/rashes. Also mainly treats San Yang Zhong (Summerheat invading the Three Yang meridians: Taiyang, Yangming, Shaoyang), characterized by high fever, irritability, and thirst, as well as all kinds of Heat syndromes. Note: Zi Xue (Purple Snow Decoction) is a formula for Yangming Jing diseases. Shengma is acrid, sweet, and slightly cold. It is taken for its ability to enter the Heat division, acting as a vanguard guide to prevent rejection or obstruction. It is also taken for its ability to circulate Qi in the Qi division, serving a descending function to prevent inflammatory rebellion. Huangjin is heavy and sinking, capable of calming the South (Heart belongs to Fire, direction is South). Gancao is mild and peaceful, capable of harmonizing Middle Qi. When Water is strong, Heat transforms itself; when Qi descends, Fire clears itself. The pathogens accumulated in Yangming Jing and the suffering of burning heat on the skin and surface will heal spontaneously without explicit expectation.
