之水衰微也。水虚不能制火。火旺必来乘金。金燥乃为咽痛。理势之固然者也。以犀角泻南。玄
参补北。射干黄芩救西方之燥金。甘草和中。化毒。狂烦等症。靡不悉愈矣。

主解毒化 。 雷藏泽中。雷起而火随之。龙潜海底。龙起而火随之。龙雷之火燔灼。
熏逼
余邪。震木霁威。坎水归元。水火有既济之功。肌体无炎蒸之苦矣。
升麻、葛根、白芍药、甘草。
用于疹子欲出而未出的情况。用此汤剂来升发透疹。如果疹子已经发出，则不可使用。按语：疹是阳明经壅积的热毒所致。因此使用升麻、葛根。有人因为畏惧白芍药的酸敛之性，便擅自将其去掉，导致此汤剂的药效大减。唉！难道古人的心智不如现代人如此吗？
羌活、独活、柴胡、前胡、枳壳、桔梗、茯苓、川芎、升麻、白芍药、甘草、生姜。
主治疹子初起，伴有身体疼痛、头痛、憎恶寒冷、高热、胸中痞闷不适。按语：这是阳明的症状，升麻葛根汤（Shengma Gegen Tang, Cinnamon Twig and Kudzu Root Decoction）是确切的对症方剂。因为身体疼痛，所以加入羌活和独活；因为有寒热往来，所以加入柴胡和前胡；因为胸中痞闷不适，所以加入枳壳和桔梗。后来又确立了各种加减方法，这确实是确定不移的准则。
犀角屑、黑玄参、升麻、射干、黄芩、甘草。
主治痘毒炽盛，出现心烦、狂言乱语，或者咽喉疼痛的情况。心烦狂言，是南方心火亢盛炎上的表现；咽喉作痛，是北方肾水衰微的表现。肾水虚弱不能制约心火，心火旺盛必然乘袭肺金（五行中火克金）。肺金燥热从而引起咽喉疼痛，这是医理和形势发展的必然结果。使用犀角清泻南方心火，玄参滋补北方肾水，射干和黄芩救疗西方肺金的燥热，甘草调和脾胃，化解毒邪。像狂躁烦乱等症状，没有不痊愈的。
大青、阿胶、甘草、淡豆豉。
主治解毒化斑（消除皮肤斑疹）。雷藏于泽中，雷动而火随之；龙潜于海底，龙起而火随之。龙雷之火燔灼焚烧，熏逼残余的病邪，使震卦（木）收敛威力，坎卦（水）回归本源，达到水火既济的功效，肌体就没有炎热蒸腾的痛苦了。
Acoris Rhizoma (Xionghuang, 雄黄), Sophorae Flavescentis Radix (Kushen, 苦参), Celosiae Semen (Qingxiangzi, 青葙子), Coptidis Rhizoma (Huanglian, 黄连), Persicae Semen (Taoren, 桃仁).
Mainly treats sores in the lower part of the body.
Cimicifugae Rhizoma (Shengma, 升麻), Puerariae Lobatae Radix (Gegen, 葛根), Paeoniae Radix Alba (Baishaoyao, 白芍药), Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Gancao, 甘草).
Indicated for rashes that are about to emerge but have not yet appeared. This decoction is used to raise and diffuse them. If the rash has already emerged, it should not be used. Note: Rashes are heat-toxins accumulated and stagnant in the Yangming channel. Therefore, Cimicifugae Rhizoma and Puerariae Lobatae Radix are employed. Some individuals, fearing the astringent nature of Paeoniae Radix Alba, arbitrarily remove it from the formula, significantly reducing its efficacy. Alas! Could it be that the wisdom of ancient physicians was inferior to that of modern people?
Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix (Qianghuo, 羌活), Angelicae Pubescentis Radix (Duhuo, 独活), Bupleuri Radix (Chaihu, 柴胡), Peucedani Radix (Qianhu, 前胡), Aurantii Fructus Immaturus (Zhike, 枳壳), Platycodonis Radix (Jiegeng, 桔梗), Poria (Fuling, 茯苓), Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma (Chuanxiong, 川芎), Cimicifugae Rhizoma (Shengma, 升麻), Paeoniae Radix Alba (Baishaoyao, 白芍药), Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Gancao, 甘草), Zingiberis Recens Rhizoma (Shengjiang, 生姜).
Mainly treats early-stage rashes accompanied by body pain, headache, aversion to cold, high fever, and chest discomfort. Note: These are symptoms of the Yangming stage; Shengma Gegen Tang (Cinnamon Twig and Kudzu Root Decoction) is the precise indicated formula. Because of body pain, Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix and Angelicae Pubescentis Radix are added; because of alternating chills and fever, Bupleuri Radix and Peucedani Radix are added; because of chest discomfort, Aurantii Fructus Immaturus and Platycodonis Radix are added. Subsequent methods for modifications were established based on this, which is indeed an unchangeable principle.
Rhinocerotis Cornu (Xijiao, 犀角), Scrophulariae Radix (Heixuanshen, 黑玄参), Cimicifugae Rhizoma (Shengma, 升麻), Belamcandae Rhizoma (Shegan, 射干), Scutellariae Radix (Huangqin, 黄芩), Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Gancao, 甘草).
Mainly treats severe toxin eruption with mental restlessness, delirious speech, or sore throat. Mental restlessness and delirium indicate hyperactive fire of the South (Heart Fire); sore throat indicates deficient water of the North (Kidney Water). When Kidney Water is deficient and cannot control Heart Fire, the excessive Fire attacks Lung Metal (Fire overacts on Metal). The dryness of Lung Metal leads to sore throat, which is the natural course of pathology. Rhinocerotis Cornu clears the Southern Heart Fire; Scrophulariae Radix tonifies the Northern Kidney Water; Belamcandae Rhizoma and Scutellariae Radix rescue the dryness of Western Lung Metal; Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma harmonizes the middle jiao and transforms toxins. Symptoms such as mania and烦躁 will all heal.
Isatidis Folium (Daqingye, 大青), Asini Corii Colla (Ejiao, 阿胶), Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Gancao, 甘草), Sojae Seminis Preparatum (Dandouchi, 淡豆豉).
Mainly treats detoxification and transformation of macules. Thunder hides in marshes; when thunder rises, fire follows. Dragons lurk at the bottom of the sea; when dragons rise, fire follows. The fire of dragons and thunder burns fiercely, forcing out residual pathogens. The Wood element (Zhen trigram) restrains its power, and the Water element (Kan trigram) returns to its origin, achieving the balance of Water and Fire (Ji Ji). Thus, the body is free from the suffering of intense heat.
