Wound bleeding may occur due to the mutual overcoming of the five Zang organs and disharmony of Yin and Yang, causing blood to fail to stop; or it may result from the imbalance of Qi caused by the Six Exogenous Pathogens (Wind, Cold, Summerheat, Dampness, Dryness, Fire) and Seven Emotions (Joy, Anger, Worry, Pensiveness, Sadness, Fear, Fright) affecting the lactating mother, leading to reckless movement of blood. If caused by internal stirring of Liver Fire, use Siwu Tang (Four Substance Decoction), Gardeniae Fructus (Shanzhi), and Moutan Cortex (Mudanpi). For Blood deficiency in the Liver Meridian, use Liuwei Dihuang Wan (Six-Ingredient Rehmannia Pill). If Heart Qi is deficient and unable to control blood, use Siwu Tang, Ginseng Radix (Renshen), Atractylodis Rhizoma (Baizhu), Moutan Cortex (Mudanpi), and Ziziphus Seed (Suanzaoren). If Spleen Qi is deficient and unable to control blood, use Sijunzi Tang (Four Gentlemen Decoction), Gardeniae Fructus (Shanzhi), and Moutan Cortex (Mudanpi). For stagnation of Spleen Qi, use Guipi Tang (Restore the Spleen Decoction). For deficiency of both Spleen and Lung Qi, use Buzhong Yiqi Tang (Tonify the Middle and Augment the Qi Decoction). For deficiency of both Qi and Blood, use Shiquan Dabu Tang (Ten Complete Great Tonifying Decoction). For insufficient Kidney Yin with internal stirring of Liver Fire, use Liuwei Dihuang Wan (Six-Ingredient Rehmannia Pill) combined with Chaihu Zhizi San (Bupleurum and Gardenia Powder) plus Schisandrae Fructus (Wuweizi). Generally, when excessive blood loss presents with symptoms such as irritability, heat sensation, and thirst, regardless of the pulse or specific symptoms, urgently use Danshen Tang (Single Ginseng Decoction) to tonify Qi. The Classics state: "Blood is generated from Qi." Without sweet-warm herbs such as Ginseng Radix (Renshen), [Astragali Radix (Huangqi)], Angelicae Sinensis Radix (Danggui), and Atractylodis Rhizoma (Baizhu), recovery is impossible. If fever accompanies a large pulse, the condition is mostly incurable.
An eleven-year-old child presented with a nodule on the glabella, size of a red adzuki bean, with profuse bleeding, accompanied by fever, fatigue, poor appetite, and general weakness. This indicates Heat in the Blood of the Liver Meridian and Qi deficiency of the Spleen Meridian. Treatment with Chaishao Shenling San (Bupleurum, Peony, Ginseng, and Poria Powder) and Jiwei Lujian Wan (Nine-Ingredient Aloe Pill) resulted in recovery.
A child suffering from Liuzhu (flowing abscess) with bleeding presented with hiccups, abdominal pain, and cold extremities. Treatment with Liujunzi Tang (Six Gentlemen Decoction) and Danshen Tang (Single Ginseng Decoction) initially worsened the condition, indicating severe deficiency-cold of Yang Qi where the medicinal force had not yet taken effect. After continuous administration for several doses, symptoms gradually subsided, and recovery was expected after about one month. Later, due to improper diet, chills, fever, convulsions, and bleeding occurred, indicating Spleen Qi deficiency overwhelmed by Liver Fire. Treatment with Yigong San (Yi Gong Powder) augmented with Cimicifugae Rhizoma (Shengma) and Bupleuri Radix (Chaihu) stabilized the condition, followed by Bazhen Tang (Eight Treasure Decoction) and Sijunzi Tang (Four Gentlemen Decoction) for full recovery. Subsequently, mental exertion led to fever and headache; self-administration of cooling herbs caused sweating, anal spasms, and prolonged unconsciousness. Administration of Dadu Tang (Great Tonifying Decoction) for several doses stabilized the patient, followed by Bazhen Tang (Eight Treasure Decoction) for recovery.
A female patient presented with bleeding from an arm wound. I diagnosed Blood deficiency and treated with Shengyu Tang (Holy Recovery Decoction), resulting in recovery. Due to anger, the condition recurred. Initial treatment with Shengyu Tang (Holy Recovery Decoction) followed by Jiawei Xiaoyao San (Modified Free and Easy Wanderer Powder) showed improvement. However, influenced by others, she took fire-descending herbs, leading to vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain. I treated with Yigong San (Yi Gong Powder) and Shengyu Tang (Holy Recovery Decoction), resulting in cure.
A child with head sores and bleeding experienced convulsions during sleep. Upon inquiry, the mother was found to have chronic emotional depression, anger, and fever. The mother took Jiawei Xiaoyao San (Modified Free and Easy Wanderer Powder) and Jiawei Guipi Tang (Modified Restore the Spleen Decoction), which cured the child.
A child with head and face sores and bleeding presented with redness on the right cheek and dry mouth desiring cold drinks. This indicates Stomach Heat. Initial treatment with Qingwei San (Clear the Stomach Powder) led to gradual recovery, followed by Jiawei Jiedu San (Modified Detoxification Powder) for complete cure.
A child with arm sores and bleeding presented with a floating and large pulse that was weak upon pressure, especially at the Right Cun and Guan positions. This indicates deficiency of Spleen and Lung Qi, unable to control blood and return it to its source. Initial treatment with Buzhong Yiqi Tang (Tonify the Middle and Augment the Qi Decoction) stopped the bleeding, followed by Tuoli San (Support the Interior Powder) for wound healing.
A child with head and face sores, bleeding, pain, fever, and desire for cold drinks presented with excessive Heat in the Stomach Meridian causing reckless blood movement. Initial treatment with Xianfang Huoming Yin (Immortal Life Elixir) resolved all symptoms suddenly, followed by Qingre Xiaodu San (Clear Heat and Detoxify Powder) for gradual wound contraction.
A fourteen-year-old female suffered from Scrofula (Luoli) with intermittent bleeding, greenish complexion, and irritability. I diagnosed deficiency of Qi in the Liver and Gallbladder meridians, preventing blood from returning to the vessels, and proposed nourishing Kidney Water to generate Liver Wood. The patient refused, taking clearing-heat and detoxifying herbs instead, leading to uncontrollable bleeding and death.
A child with internal ulceration of Bone Abscess (Guju) presented with copious pus, followed by wound bleeding, aversion to cold, body fatigue, and a pulse barely perceptible. I diagnosed dispersion of Yang following Yin and collapse of Qi, treating with Danshen Tang (Single Ginseng Decoction) to tonify Qi. The patient refused, leading to death.
