妇人有瘦法身躯，久不孕育，一交男子，即卧病终朝。人以为气虚之故，谁知是血虚之故乎！或谓血藏于肝、精
涵于肾，交感乃泄肾之精，与血虚何与，殊不知肝气不开，则精不能泄，肾精既泄，则肝气亦不能舒。以肾为肝之母，
母既泄精，不能分润以养其子，则木燥乏水而火且暗动以铄精，则肾愈虚矣。况瘦人多火而又泄其精，则水益少而
火益炽，水虽制火，而肾精空乏，无力以济，便成火在水上之挂，所以倦怠而卧也。此等之妇，偏易动火，然此火
因贪欲而出于肝木之中，又是虚燥之火，绝非真火也。且不交合则已，交合又偏易走泄，此阴虚火旺，不能受孕。
即偶尔受孕，必致逼干男子之精，随种而随消者有之。治法必须大补肾水而平肝木，水旺则血旺，血旺则火消，便
成水在火上之（卦）。
方用养精种玉汤。
大熟地（一两，九蒸） 当归（五钱，酒洗） 白芍（五钱，酒炒） 山萸肉（五钱，蒸熟）
水煎服。三月便可身健受孕，才可种子。此方之用，不特补血而纯于填精。精满则子宫易于摄精，血足则子宫
易于容物，皆有子之道也。惟是贪欲者多，节欲者少，往往不验。服此者果能节欲三月。心精神清，自无不孕之理。
否则，不过身体健壮而已，勿咎方之不灵也。
眉批∶服药三月后不受孕，仍照原方加贯众二钱。炒断丝、续断二钱、白术五钱，土炒、焦云苓三钱，服数
剂后必受孕矣。
歌括∶妇人瘦弱不孕生，肝木虚燥肾水空。
大补肾水滋肝木，水旺火消孕能成。
养精种玉贵子生，服药节欲三月整。
当归熟地白芍药，山萸四味滋肾精。
妇女中身体消瘦者，长期无法怀孕，一旦与男子交合，便会整日卧病不起。人们认为是气虚的缘故，哪里知道其实是血虚造成的呢！有人说血藏于肝、精涵于肾，性交时泄出的是肾精，这与血虚有什么关系？殊不知如果肝气不舒展，肾精就不能顺利泄出；而肾精既然已经泄出，肝气也就不能舒畅。因为肾是肝的母亲，母亲既已泄精，就不能分润精气来滋养儿子（肝），导致肝木干燥缺乏肾水滋润，同时虚火暗中躁动以煎熬肾精，使得肾更加虚弱。况且瘦人多内火，又再泄其精，那么肾水更少而虚火更旺。虽然水能制火，但肾精空乏无力济助，便形成了“火在水上”的既济卦反象（此处指水火不济之象），所以人会感到倦怠而卧床休息。这类妇女，偏容易动火，然而这种火是因为贪恋性欲而从肝木中生出的，属于虚燥之火，绝非真正的实火。而且如果不交合则罢，一旦交合又特别容易滑精早泄，这是阴虚火旺，不能受孕的表现。即使偶尔受孕，也必定会逼迫耗干男子的精液，随着种子形成随即消散的情况也是有的。治疗方法必须大补肾水并平抑肝木，肾水旺盛则血液充盈，血液充盈则虚火消退，这就形成了“水在火上”的未济卦正象（此处指水火既济、阴阳调和之象）。
方剂用养精种玉汤。
大熟地黄（一两，九次蒸制） 当归（五钱，酒洗） 白芍（五钱，酒炒） 山茱萸肉（五钱，蒸熟）
用水煎服。三个月后身体即可健壮并能够受孕，这才具备孕育的条件。这个方子的作用，不仅仅是补血，更是纯粹地填补精髓。精髓充足则子宫容易摄取精子，血液充足则子宫容易容纳胎元，这都是生育的道理。只是贪图房事的人多，节制欲望的人少，往往服药无效。服用此药的人如果能真正节制欲望三个月，心神清静，自然没有不孕的道理。否则，仅仅身体变得健壮而已，不要责怪方子不灵验。
眉批：服药三个月后仍不怀孕，仍然按照原方加入贯众二钱。炒杜仲、续断各二钱，土炒白术五钱，焦茯苓三钱，服用几剂后必然受孕。
歌诀：妇人瘦弱不孕生，肝木虚燥肾水空。
大补肾水滋肝木，水旺火消孕能成。
养精种玉贵子生，服药节欲三月整。
当归熟地白芍药，山萸四味滋肾精。
In women with a thin physique who have been unable to conceive for a long time, sexual intercourse immediately causes them to fall ill and remain in bed all day. People attribute this to Qi deficiency (Qi Xu), but little do they know it is actually due to Blood deficiency (Xue Xu). Some argue that Blood resides in the Liver (Gan) and Essence (Jing) is contained in the Kidney (Shen); since intercourse depletes Kidney Essence, what does it have to do with Blood deficiency? They fail to realize that if Liver Qi (Gan Qi) does not flow freely, Essence cannot be discharged; and once Kidney Essence is discharged, Liver Qi cannot relax. Since the Kidney is the Mother of the Liver, when the "Mother" depletes Essence, it cannot distribute nourishment to feed its "Child" (the Liver). This leads to dryness of Wood (Liver) lacking Water (Kidney) support, while latent Fire (Huojing) moves secretly to scorch Essence, causing further Kidney deficiency. Moreover, thin people tend to have internal Heat/Fire, and depleting Essence further reduces Water while intensifying Fire. Although Water controls Fire, the emptiness of Kidney Essence renders it powerless to assist, resulting in a state resembling the hexagram Ji Ji (Water over Fire, indicating imbalance/disharmony in this context), hence the fatigue and desire to lie down. Such women are prone to moving Fire easily, yet this Fire arises from the Liver Wood due to lustful desires; it is a deficient, dry Fire, not true Excess Fire (Zhen Huo). If intercourse does not occur, fine; but if it does, leakage or premature ejaculation occurs easily. This is Yin Deficiency with Hyperactive Fire (Yin Xu Huo Wang), which prevents conception. Even if conception occasionally occurs, it may force the depletion of the male's Essence, causing the conceived seed to dissipate immediately. The treatment method must strongly tonify Kidney Water (Shen Shui) and soothe Liver Wood (Gan Mu). When Water is abundant, Blood becomes abundant; when Blood is abundant, Fire subsides, creating a harmonious state resembling the hexagram Wei Ji (Fire over Water, symbolizing proper interaction/nourishment here).
The prescription is Yang Jing Zhong Yu Tang (Nourish Essence and Seed Jade Decoction).
Prepared Rehmannia Root (Shu Di Huang, 1 liang, steamed nine times)
Angelica Sinensis Root (Dang Gui, 5 qian, washed with wine)
White Peony Root (Bai Shao, 5 qian, stir-fried with wine)
Cornus Officinalis Fruit (Shan Yu Rou, 5 qian, steamed until soft)
Decoct in water and take orally. After three months, the body will become robust and capable of conception, thus meeting the conditions for seeding. The function of this formula is not merely to tonify Blood, but purely to fill Essence. When Essence is full, the uterus easily captures sperm; when Blood is sufficient, the uterus easily accommodates the fetus. These are the ways to bear children. However, those indulging in lust are many, while those practicing moderation are few, so efficacy is often not achieved. Those taking this medicine must truly practice sexual abstinence/moderation for three months and keep their mind clear and calm; otherwise, there is no reason for infertility. If they do not, they will only become physically robust, so do not blame the formula for being ineffective.
Marginal Note: If pregnancy does not occur after three months of medication, add Cyathula Root (Guan Zhong, 2 qian) to the original prescription. Stir-fried Eucommia Bark (Du Zhong, 2 qian), Dipsacus Root (Xu Duan, 2 qian), Earth-fried Atractylodes Macrocephala Rhizome (Bai Zhu, 5 qian), and Scorched Poria (Jiao Fu Ling, 3 qian). After taking several doses, pregnancy will surely occur.
Verse:
Women thin and weak, infertility arises,
Liver Wood dry, Kidney Water empty lies.
Tonify Kidney Water to nourish Liver Wood,
When Water thrives and Fire fades, conception succeeds.
Yang Jing Zhong Yu values the generation of offspring,
Take medicine and moderate desire for three months whole.
Angelica, Prepared Rehmannia, White Peony,
Cornus, these four ingredients nourish Kidney Essence.
