For the condition of Gan accumulation diarrhea (Gan syndrome with diarrhea), characterized by undigested food in stool, uncontrolled defecation day and night, borborygmus (rumbling in the abdomen), and passage of complete undigested grains, one may first use Daoshui Wan (Water-Guiding Pill) and Yugong San (Yu Gong Powder) to purge. After purging is completed, after one or two days, Weifeng Tang (Stomach Wind Decoction) can be administered; if not cured, Guizhi Mahuang Tang (Cinnamon Twig and Ephedra Decoction) may then be given, and the disease will be cured through sweating. The *Neijing* states: "Long-standing wind entering the interior causes Changfeng (Intestinal Wind) and Sunxie (diarrhea with undigested food)." Qixuanzi (Wang Bing) said: "Wind in the intestines steams upward to the stomach, causing ingested food to be expelled without digestion." It also states: "Sunxie refers to food eaten at dusk remaining undigested." Furthermore, the *Classic* says: "If wind is injured in spring, Sunxie will inevitably occur in summer." Therefore, it can be cured by inducing sweating. The *Neijing* states: "Wind exits with sweat, pain diminishes with purging." If substances like Doukou (Nutmeg) and Ying Susiao (Poppy Shell) are taken for a long time without cessation, they will transform into edema, leading to an incurable state.
For bleeding from Zangdu (Toxic Heat in the Zang organs manifesting as bloody stool), Diaowei Chengqi Tang (Harmonize the Stomach and Direct Downward Decoction) added with Danggui (Angelica Sinensis) can be used; after purging, Shaoyao Bopi Wan (Peony and Phellodendron Bark Pill), Huanglian Jiedu Tang (Coptis Detoxification Decoction), Wuling San (Five-Ingredient Powder with Poria), and Yiyuan San (Benefit Origin Powder) should be mixed in equal proportions, taken orally with five to seven qian each time. The *Neijing* asks: "What about bloody stool?" The answer is: "This refers to water accumulation in the intestines." Fever indicates death, while coldness indicates survival. Fever signifies the failure of blood and qi, hence death; coldness signifies the presence of Ying Qi (Nutritive Qi), hence survival. Death on the seventh day occurs due to the completion number of Fire.
For diarrhea with pus and blood, accompanied by unceasing abdominal pain, Diaowei Chengqi Tang (Harmonize the Stomach and Direct Downward Decoction) added with Shengjiang (Fresh Ginger) and Zao (Jujube) for decoction can be used; followed by purging using Zangyong Wan (Zang Yong Pill), 70 to 80 pills, adjusted according to deficiency or excess; after purging, Wuling San (Five-Ingredient Powder with Poria) mixed with flowing fresh water, taken in doses of five to seven qian; or mixed with Dengxincao (Juncus Effusus) decoction is also acceptable; mixing Yiyuan San (Benefit Origin Powder) in doses of five to seven qian is also permissible. Strictly avoid greasy foods and all hot-natured substances, and the disease will heal.
Whether male or female, suffering from continuous watery diarrhea due to the intake of harsh hot agents such as Doukou (Nutmeg), Wumei (Mume Fruit), Shengjiang (Fresh Ginger), and Fuzi (Aconite Root), resulting in the closure and stagnation of the Sanjiao (Triple Burner), obstruction of water pathways, water filling the skin, body bloating and swelling, yellowish complexion, and distended abdomen with difficult urination, Dusheng San (Single Miracle Powder) can be used to induce vomiting. If during cold seasons, one should be in a warm, draft-free room, place a fire basin nearby to borrow heat to induce sweating. Then, use Daoshui Wan (Water-Guiding Pill) and Yugong San (Yu Gong Powder) to purge more than ten times according to deficiency or excess; when dampness is removed and swelling decreases, the patient heals. This employs the simultaneous application of sweating, purging, and vomiting methods. After sweating, purging, and vomiting are completed, the fu-zang organs are empty; thus, light millet gruel should be used to nourish the stomach and intestines for two to three days. Subsequently, Wuling San (Five-Ingredient Powder with Poria) and Yiyuan San (Benefit Origin Powder) should be decocted together and taken with Dengxincao (Juncus Effusus) tea. If the pathogenic factor remains, Shen Zhu San (Divine Assistance Powder), formerly known as Tingli San (Descurainia Seed Powder), should be taken; it can moisten dryness, separate yin and yang, and promote diuresis. Promoting diuresis is essential; otherwise, it is not the correct method. After the condition stabilizes, major dietary and lifestyle regulation is required. Avoid fish, salt, alcohol, meat, fruits, and sexual intercourse for three years. Otherwise, death is inevitable and incurable.
