In cases of venomous snake bites, immediately bind the area above and below the wound to prevent the spread of toxins. Submerge the patient in a latrine pit, and have them consume garlic and alcohol until full, to prevent the toxin from attacking the heart. Alternatively, administer equal parts of Baiming (Alumen, 白矾) and Gancao (Licorice Root, 甘草) mixed with cold water, two or three qian. Further, crush garlic and apply it topically to the affected area, accompanied by moxibustion around the site; this method is also excellent for treating various insect stings. Another prescription consists of equal parts of Xionghuang (Realgar, 雄黄), Wulingzhi (Trogopterus Dung, 五灵脂), Beimu (Fritillaria Bulb, 贝母), and Baizhi (Angelica Dahurica Root, 白芷), ground into powder. Take three qian per dose, mixed with hot wine, and apply the dregs topically. Another method uses Qingmuxiang (Aucklandia Root, 青木香) in any quantity, decocted and taken orally to stop pain immediately. Another method involves grinding a small amount of Jinxianzhonglou (Paris Polyphylla Rhizome, 金线重楼) with water to make a paste for topical application on the bite; alternatively, grind it into powder and take with wine. Another method uses Beimu (Fritillaria Bulb, 贝母) ground into powder, taken with wine until intoxication occurs; after a short while, the wine reaches the wound and transforms into fluid that flows out. Once the fluid ceases, apply the dregs to the sore, which can save even those near death. Another method involves crushing a toad (Laihamama, 癞蛤蟆) and applying it to the wound, securing it with cloth. Another method for injuries caused by venomous snakes or sand fleas, presenting with closed eyes, locked jaws, and stiff limbs indicating internal toxin penetration, is to immediately crush Cang'ercao (Xanthium Herb, 苍耳草) to extract juice, mix with wine, consume the residue, and apply thickly to the affected area.
One prescription treats centipede bites by applying rooster comb blood. If the tongue protrudes, swells, and becomes hard due to ingested centipede venom, apply it to the tongue and swallow. Another method uses smoke from burning tangled hair. Another uses black chicken manure applied topically. Another places a large spider on the wound to absorb the venom. For scorpion stings, use equal parts of Baiming (Alumen, 白矾) and Banxia (Pinellia Tuber, 半夏), ground into powder and mixed with vinegar for topical application. For tiger bites, drink fresh Gegen (Kudzu Root, 生葛根) juice and wash the wound; both are effective. Alternatively, insert Baiming (Alumen, 白矾) powder into the wound to stop pain instantly. Another method involves lying in a deep pit dug in the earth to avoid death.
For horse bites, apply Bohe (Mint Leaf, 簿荷汁) juice. For pig bites, melt Songzhi (Pine Resin, 松脂) into a cake and apply it.
For human bites, where finger wounds cause unbearable pain and potential necrosis of fingers or palms over time, immerse the injured finger in a bottle of human urine overnight for cure. Alternatively, burn turtle shell into ash and apply. Another method involves chewing raw chestnuts with rice into a paste and applying it thickly to the wound.
For traumatic bleeding from metal weapons (Jinchuang, 金疮), use Banxia (Pinellia Tuber, 半夏), Fenghua Duanshi (Calcined Alumen, 风化锻石), and Yujin (Curcuma Root, 郁金) ground into powder and sprinkled on the wound to stop bleeding. Alternatively, use Hai Piaoxiao (Cuttlefish Bone, 海螵蛸) powder to stop bleeding instantly.
Another method uses ancient mine Duanshi (Alumen, 锻石) powder. Another uses roasted Cansemo (Bombyx Batryticatus, 原蚕蛾) powder. Another for severe knife or axe wounds uses Zhen Jiangxiang (Agarwood, 真降香) scraped with porcelain, ground to fine powder, and applied; a scab forms like a coin the next day, ensuring immediate healing. Another uses Xuexie (Dragon's Blood, 血竭) powder to stop bleeding and promote tissue regeneration. Another uses newborn mice crushed with alumen, dried in shade, and applied to traumatic wounds and burns/scalds.
For Yang-pattern swelling/toxins and traumatic wounds, insert Dagengcao (Ganoderma? Note: Context implies Licorice/Gancao, specifically "Da Fen Cao" often refers to refined Licorice or similar root in folk contexts, but literally "Big Powder Grass". Given context of "Gancao" earlier, likely referring to a specific preparation of Licorice or similar herb. However, strictly translating entity: Da Fencao) into a bamboo tube stripped of green skin, seal with oil paste, bury in a latrine pit on the Winter Solstice, retrieve one day before Spring Festival, dry vertically in shade, remove from bamboo, and grind finely. Mix with water for topical application on dry traumatic wounds; internally for heat-toxin and epidemic toxins.
