[Initial Diagnosis by Chu Ping] After the Spring Equinox, the Liver Wood Qi becomes excessive and invades the Middle Jiao. If it overacts on the Spleen, diarrhea occurs; if it invades the Stomach, vomiting ensues. The illness began at midnight, presenting with cold limbs (Zhi Jue), hidden pulse (Mai Fu), panting, sweating, and macules (Ban). One must be cautious of critical changes such as closure (Bi) or collapse (Tuo). I tentatively propose a method based on Fuzi Lizhong Tang (Aconite Decoction for Regulating the Middle), which might salvage one in ten thousand cases. Please consult another expert for further advice.
Prescription: Korean Ginseng (Gao Li Bie Zhi Shen) steamed with five rose petals and taken with the decoction; Left Oyster Shell (Zuo Mu Li); Prepared Aconite Root (Shu Fu Zi, boiled with other herbs for 5 minutes, remove residue, use liquid for decoction); Xuan Quince (Xuan Mu Gua); Raw Shanyang Atractylodes Rhizome (Sheng Xian Ju Zhu); Light Dried Ginger (Dan Gan Jiang); Xin Hui Tangerine Peel (Xin Hui Pi); Clear-Honey-Fried Licorice Root (Qing Zhi Gan Cao); East White Peony Root (Dong Bai Shao); Zuo Jin Pill (Zuo Jin Wan, mixed in, 3 fen); Foxglove Scutellaria Root with Cinnabar (Jian Zhu Fu Shen).
[Second Visit] Yesterday's prescription using Ginseng and Aconite to restore Yang was effective. Today, vomiting and diarrhea have ceased, the patient feels hungry and can eat, with only slight nausea and dizziness. Although the Righteous Qi (Zheng Qi) has been restored, the Qi of the Liver and Stomach is not yet harmonized. The pulse is slow and weak; upon heavy pressure at the Right Cun (Cun position on the right wrist) and both Guan (Guan position on both wrists), a wiry pulse (Xian Mai) is felt. The treatment proposes a method to harmonize the Jueyin and Yangming channels. Dietary control and avoidance of wind are necessary to prevent recurrence. Attached is the formula for expert review.
Prescription: Korean Ginseng; East White Peony Root; Zuo Jin Pill (mixed and stir-fried, 3 fen); Pure Uncaria Ramulus cum Uncis (Chun Gou); Alisma Rhizome (Ze Xie); Rice-Stir-Fried Ophiopogon Tuber (Mi Chao Da Mai Dong); Broad Tangerine Peel (Guang Pi); Concha Arcae (Shi Jue Ming); Raw and Cooked Barley Sprouts (Sheng Shu Gu Ya, decocted separately to replace water); Original Stem Dendrobium Nobile (Yuan Zhu Jin Hu); Massae Medicamentae Fermentatae Cum Herbis (Ban Xia Qu); Foxglove Scutellaria Root with Cinnabar (Zhu Fu Shen).
[Gong Zuo, 19 years old, September 4th] Hidden Summerheat erupts internally, while new Coolness binds externally. Additionally, food stagnation obstructs, causing dysfunction of the ascending and descending of Fu-organ Qi. This results in alternating vomiting and diarrhea, epigastric fullness, thirst, and even cold limbs leading to unconsciousness. There are cold limbs, hidden pulse, continuous panting and sweating, and a white greasy tongue coating. Correlating the pulse with symptoms, one must guard against the danger of Jue syndrome and Collapse. I tentatively propose a modified formula based on Renshen, Fuzi, Guizhi, Gancao, Longgu, and Muli. However, I fear my efforts may be insufficient. Attached is the formula for expert decision.
Prescription: Ta Party Ginseng Tendrils (Tai Shen Xu); Dragon Bone (Long Gu); East White Peony Root; Zuo Jin Pill (mixed, 2 fen); Tian Sheng Atractylodes Rhizome (5 fen); Left Oyster Shell; Prepared Aconite Slice (Shu Fu Pian, boiled for 5 minutes, remove residue, use liquid for decoction); Tender Cinnamon Twig (Nen Guizhi, 5 fen); Honey-Fried Licorice Root (Zhi Cao); Foxglove Scutellaria Root with Cinnabar; Ge-Processed Pinellia Rhizome (5 fen); Laifu Dan (5 fen); Xin Hui Tangerine Peel.
