Meridian (referring to the preceding text's method or herb entering the meridian, though the original text is incomplete here, it generally implies a connection to the previous context), used for treating fetal death in the uterus; Slippery Fetus Formula (a formula for habitual abortion) often uses it. Also treats sudden redness and swelling, and "Du Ru" (breast engorgement with pain and redness due to milk stasis) in women. For pediatric white alopecia areata (tinea capitis causing hair loss and white scalp), apply vinegar residue externally. For various burns and scalds ("Wu Dan Huo Chuang"), mix with egg white and apply.
Fruit, slightly pungent in taste. It can assist Lung Qi, kill various parasites and direct Qi downward, increase appetite, eliminate malignant Qi in the heart and abdomen, treat sudden cold pain in the heart, and cure pediatric cradle cap and various sores and tinea. The flower treats pediatric epilepsy, heat injury, and difficult urination. The pod, cooked in soup with beef, treats leukorrhea in women. Young leaves, cooked in soup, reduce edema, counteract the heat of mineral drugs (Dan Shi), and promote joint mobility. In the second lunar month, harvest the bark, remove the red outer layer, and roast dry. In the eighth lunar month, harvest the fruit, ensuring they do not get damp, as dampness harms the body.

"Hu" refers to auspicious jade; "Po" means white. It has the function of stabilizing the soul and spirit. It is formed when pine resin enters the ground and transforms over a millennium. It is non-toxic. It promotes urination, unblocks the five types of strangury, breaks up nodules, calms the mind, stops heart pain, stabilizes the soul, clears Lung Qi, facilitates descending transformation, dries Spleen Earth, brightens the eyes and removes nebulae, treats maniacal disorders, and expels evil spirits and myriad pathogenic factors. Materia Medica states: its main function is to calm the Five Zang organs. It is excellent for expelling blood stasis, postpartum syncope due to blood loss, and uterine lochia pain ("Er Zhen Tong"). It also resolves gu poison, stops bleeding from metal wounds, and generates flesh. However, for those with deficient blood and difficult urination, taking it may cause discomfort from dryness and urgency. *Bie Shuo* says: Poria and Amber both originate from pine trees, but Poria forms in Yin, while Amber forms in Yang and completes in Yin; thus, both regulate Ying (Nutritive) Qi, calm the mind, and promote urination. Genuine amber resembles blood color; rub it with cloth, heat it, and if it picks up mustard seeds, it is genuine. When using it, first mix powdered Bai Zi Ren (Biota Seed) with water in a porcelain jar, add the amber into the powder, boil for half a day until a strange light appears, then grind separately into powder and sieve. Single Amber Powder: grind into fine powder, take 2 qian mixed with decoction of Juncus effusus (Deng Xin Cao) and Mint, to treat hematuria with miraculous effect.

It grows in clusters in marshes in Jiangnan. The stem is round, thin, long, and straight; the pith can be used for lamp wicks. Decocted raw, the roots and shoots clear the Heart and reduce fever, benefit the urinary pathway, and unblock the five types of strangury. Danxi said: Juncus belongs to Earth. Burned to ash while retaining its nature, a small amount blown into the throat acts very quickly for laryngospasm. Applied to breast milk for the infant to suck, it treats night crying. Mixed with saliva and chewed, it applies to traumatic injuries.
Green Vitriol (Ferrous Sulfate)
Green vitriol is sour and cold. It reduces swelling and jaundice, dissipates childhood malnutrition and intestinal wind bleeding, treats laryngospasm, dental caries, sores, tinea, and worms, and quenches in vinegar for onychia and traumatic swelling.
Also known as Qing Fan. Non-toxic. It eliminates edema, jaundice, and childhood malnutrition; it is an agent that suppresses Liver and assists Spleen. For intestinal wind bleeding, ferment crucian carp, burn to ash, and make into pills. Treats laryngospasm, dental caries, mouth ulcers, and malignant sores/tinea with worms. For onychia with swelling, pain, and oozing, quench in vinegar three times over fire. *Ju Fang* often uses rice-frying, perhaps to enhance the power of the alum. Another preparation method is seen in Volume 5.
