The (meridian) starts at Touwei (ST8) and ends at Lidui (ST45).
The Foot-Yangming Stomach Meridian originates from the sides of the nose at Yingxiang (LI18), ascends and crosses left and right at the root of the nose (Shangen), meeting laterally with the meridian of the Foot-Taiyang Bladder, descends along the lateral aspect of the nose, enters the upper teeth, emerges to encircle the lips, descends to intersect at Chengjiang (CV24), then retraces along the lower margin behind the chin, emerges at Daying (ST5), follows Jiache (ST6), ascends in front of the ear, passes through Keguoren (ST7/Shangguan GB23), follows the hairline, and reaches the frontal cranium. Its branch descends from the anterior part of Daying to Renying (ST9), follows the throat, enters the Supraclavicular Fossa (Quepen), descends through the diaphragm, belongs to the Stomach, and connects with the Spleen. Its main trunk descends from the Supraclavicular Fossa along the medial border of the breast, descends flanking the umbilicus, and enters the Qi Street (inguinal region). Another branch originates from the stomach opening, descends along the interior of the abdomen, reaches the Qi Street to merge with the previous branch, then descends through Biguan (ST31), arrives at Futu (ST32), descends into the patella, follows the lateral margin of the tibia, reaches the dorsum of the foot, and enters the space between the medial side of the second toe. A further branch separates three cun below the knee, descends into the lateral space of the second toe. Yet another branch separates from the dorsum of the foot, enters the space between the great toe, and emerges at its tip. When this meridian is affected, it causes shivering and aversion to cold, frequent groaning, yawning, dark complexion; upon onset, the patient dislikes people and fire, is startled by the sound of wood, feels palpitations, desires to close doors and windows and stay alone; in severe cases, they may climb high to sing, discard clothes and run, experience abdominal distension and borborygmus, which is termed "Jue" (reversal). This meridian primarily governs diseases related to blood, such as mania, malaria, febrile diseases with sweating, nasal congestion or epistaxis, facial paralysis, lip sores, neck swelling, pharyngolaryngeal obstruction, massive abdominal edema, pain and swelling of the knee and patella, pain along the chest, breast, Qi Street, thigh, Futu, lateral leg, and dorsum of the foot, and inability to use the second toe. When Qi is excessive, heat pervades the anterior body; if excess is in the Stomach, there is rapid digestion and hunger, and yellow urine; when Qi is deficient, cold and chills pervade the anterior body; cold in the Stomach causes distension and fullness. For these conditions, tonify deficiency, sedate excess, treat heat with quick needle withdrawal, treat cold with retained needling, apply moxibustion for sinking Qi, and select points on the meridian itself for neither excess nor deficiency. Excess is indicated when the Renying pulse is three times larger than the Cunkou pulse; deficiency is indicated when the Renying pulse is smaller than the Cunkou pulse.
(Note: The root of the nose is referred to as Bi Jing. The area below the cheekbone is Han. The center of the chin is Yi. The area in front of the cheek is the hairline. The area before the hairline is the frontal cranium. The inner thigh is Bi. The muscular prominence above the knee in front of the thigh is Futu. Behind Futu is Biguan. The kneecap is Bin. The shin bone is the tibia. The dorsum of the foot is Fu.)
The Foot-Yangming Stomach Meridian receives transmission from the Hand-Yangming Large Intestine Meridian, originating at Yingxiang (LI18) beside the nose, ascending to cross left and right at the root of the nose, passing the Jingming (BL1) point of the Foot-Taiyang Bladder Meridian, descending along the lateral nose, passing through Chengqi (ST1), Sibai (ST2), Juliao (ST3), entering the teeth, emerging to flank the corners of the mouth at Dicang (ST4), encircling the lips, crossing left and right at Chengjiang (CV24), then following the lower margin behind the chin, emerging at Daying (ST5), following Jiache (ST6), ascending in front of the ear, passing Xiaguan (ST7), through Keguoren (ST7), following the hairline, via Touwei (ST8), converging at Shenting (GV24) on the frontal cranium. Its branch descends from the anterior part of Daying to Renying (ST9), follows the throat, passing Shuitu (ST10), Qishe (ST11), enters the Supraclavicular Fossa, runs outside the Yufu (KI27) point of the Foot-Shaoyin Kidney Meridian, descends through the diaphragm, at the junction of Shangwan (CV13) and Zhongwan (CV12), belongs to the Stomach and connects with the Spleen. Its main trunk descends from the Supraclavicular Fossa, down the medial breast border, following Qihu (ST15), Kufang (ST16), Wuyi (ST17), Yingchuang (ST18), Ruzhong (ST18), Rugen (ST18), Burong (ST21), Chengman (ST22), Liangmen (ST23), Guanmen (ST24), Taiyi (ST25), Huaroumen (ST26), descending flanking the umbilicus, passing Tianshu (ST25), Wailing (ST29), Daju (ST30), Shuidao (ST28), Guilai (ST29), and entering the Qi Street. Its branch originates from the lower opening of the Stomach where it belongs, follows the abdominal interior, passing outside the Hunshu (KI16) of the Foot-Shaoyin Kidney Meridian but inside the Stomach Meridian, descends to the Qi Street, merging with the branch that previously entered the Qi Street, then descends through Biguan (ST31), reaches Futu (ST32), passes Yinshi (ST33), Liangqiu (ST34), enters the knee patella, passes Dubi (ST35), descends along the dorsum of the foot through Chongyang (ST42), Xangu (ST43), enters the lateral space of the second toe at Neiting (ST44), ending at Lidui (ST45). Its collateral branch separates three cun below the knee, descending outside the Zusanli (ST36) point, passing Shanglian (EX-LE7), Tiaokou (EX-LE8), Xialian (EX-LE9), Fenglong (ST40), Jiexi (ST41), Chongyang (ST42), Xangu (ST43), until merging at Neiting (ST44) and Lidui (ST45). Another branch separates from Chongyang (ST42) on the dorsum of the foot, enters the space between the great toes, exits outside the Xingjian (LR2) point of the Foot-Jueyin Liver Meridian, follows the underside of the great toe to its tip, and connects with the Foot-Taiyin Spleen Meridian. There are two Stomach meridians, one ascending to the head and one descending to the foot. There are four collaterals, two running along the chest and abdomen, and two running along the legs and feet. Although the upper and lower meridians do not follow the same path, they are connected by collaterals, thus remaining one continuous system. The two collaterals running along the chest and abdomen, one starting from the Stomach and one ending at the Stomach, still constitute one meridian. At the Qi Street, they merge and run along the legs and feet, where the collaterals and main meridian again form one unit. The lower two collaterals, one connecting with the Taiyin and one dividing and rejoining, although their paths differ, converge at specific acupoints in an orderly manner.
