Li Jie Feng (Joint-Striking Wind) is a disease caused by the pathogenic factors of Wind, Cold, and Dampness injuring the sinews and bones. Its manifestations include pain in the limbs and joints, swelling of the feet, dizziness, shortness of breath with a desire to vomit, emaciation with fever, and yellow sweat that stains clothing with a color resembling cypress juice. This condition arises from drinking alcohol, then exposing oneself to wind while sweating to cool down; the qi of alcohol remains in the meridians, being closed off by Wind, leading to the infiltration of Dampness which injures the sinews and bones. Within its meridians, there is Damp-Heat, whereas within the bone marrow, there is Damp-Cold. The principal formula for treatment is Guizhi Shaoyao Zhimu Tang (Cinnamon Twig, Peony, and Anemarrhena Decoction).
Guizhi Shaoyao Zhimu Tang (Cinnamon Twig, Peony, and Anemarrhena Decoction)
Guizhi (Ramulus Cinnamomi, four qian), Shaoyao (Radix Paeoniae Alba, three qian), Gancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae, two qian), Baizhu (Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae, two qian), Fuzi (Radix Aconiti Lateralis Preparata, two qian), Zhimu (Rhizoma Anemarrhenae, four qian), Fangfeng (Radix Saposhnikoviae, four qian), Mahuang (Herba Ephedrae, two qian), Shengjiang (Rhizoma Zingiberis Recens, five qian). Decoct in water until half a cup remains, take warm. If the condition is severe and does not respond quickly, add Huangqi (Radix Astragali) to promote circulation in the meridians, and Wutou (Radix Aconiti) to dispel Cold-Dampness; recovery is assured.
Bi Syndrome (Obstruction Syndrome) is a disease caused by the combination of Wind, Cold, and Dampness pathogens. The lesions are located in fixed areas, sometimes accompanied by numbness within the pain. It is primarily treated with Guizhi Shaoyao Zhimu Tang (Cinnamon Twig, Peony, and Anemarrhena Decoction). For Blood Bi (Blood Obstruction) and all types of Bi Syndrome belonging to Deficiency patterns, Huangqi Wuwu Tang (Astragalus Five-Ingredient Decoction) is the principal formula.

He Xi Feng (Crane-Knee Wind) refers to a condition characterized by thin calves and swollen knees. This syndrome results from the combined obstruction of Wind, Cold, and Dampness at the knee joint. It is primarily treated with Guizhi Shaoyao Zhimu Tang (Cinnamon Twig, Peony, and Anemarrhena Decoction). In cases of simultaneous Qi and Blood Deficiency, Shiquan Dabu Tang (Comprehensive Great Tonifying Decoction) with modifications is used. In the early stages, Baijiezi (Semen Sinapis Albi) can be ground into powder, mixed with ginger juice and scallion juice, and applied topically to the affected area. Blisters will form during application; once the blisters dry and the skin peels off, the condition will heal spontaneously.
