[Danxi] Leukorrhea during pregnancy.
Cangzhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma, 3 qian) Baizhi (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix, 2 qian) Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma, stir-fried, 1.5 qian) Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix, stir-fried, 2 qian) Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex, stir-fried, 1.5 qian) Baishao (Paeoniae Radix Alba, 2.5 qian)
Chugenpi (Stemonae Radix Cortex, stir-fried, 1.5 qian) Shanzhuyu (Corni Fructus, 2.5 qian)
The above herbs are ground into fine powder, made into pills with paste, taken on an empty stomach, and swallowed with fifty pills using warm wine.
The principle of treating conditions before delivery begins with seeking conception. The method for seeking conception prioritizes regulating the menstruation. It is often observed that women who cannot conceive invariably have irregular menstruation, either advancing or delaying, with scanty or excessive flow,
pain before or after menstruation, purple, black, pale, or coagulated and irregular blood. Irregular menstruation leads to disharmony between Blood and Qi, preventing conception. Examining the causes of irregularity: those advancing, delaying, or painful after menstruation indicate Deficiency. Those with scanty and pale flow indicate Blood Deficiency. Excessive flow indicates Qi Deficiency. Pain before menstruation and un-dispersed clots indicate Stagnation. Purple-black color indicates Stagnation with Heat. Treatment methods: For Blood Deficiency, use Siwu Tang; for Qi Deficiency, Siwu Tang plus Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma) and Huangqi (Astragali Radix); for Stagnation, use Xiangfu (Cyperi Rhizoma), Suosha (Amomi Fructus Rotundus), Muxiang (Aucklandiae Radix), Binglang (Arecae Semen), Taoren (Persicae Semen), and Yuanhusuo (Corydalis Rhizoma); for chronic and entrenched Stagnation, use emetic and purgative methods; for patterns with Heat indicated by pulse and symptoms, use Siwu Tang plus Huangqin and Huanglian; for patterns with Cold indicated by pulse and symptoms, use Siwu Tang plus Rougui (Cinnamomi Cortex) and Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata) and Zishiyingsu (Hematitum). Only when stagnation is resolved, Qi moves freely, and Deficiency is restored, will Blood and Qi be in harmony, allowing conception. When I treat irregular menstruation,
I often use only Xiangfu powder made into pills with vinegar, which proves effective almost every time.
[Danxi] Obese women often cannot conceive because phlegm-dampness (lipid membranes) blocks the Uterus, causing amenorrhea. Emaciated women cannot conceive
because the Uterus lacks Blood, and Essence and Qi do not gather. Obese individuals infertile should first take regulating medicines.
Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix, 1 liang, washed with wine) Chuanxiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma, 7.5 qian) Baishao (Paeoniae Radix Alba) Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma) Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma, soaked in water) Xiangfu (Cyperi Rhizoma) Chenpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium, each 1 liang)
Fuling (Poria, 2 liang) Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, 1 liang)
Prepare as ten doses, each dose with three slices of fresh ginger, decocted in water, swallowing the following pills.
Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma, 2 liang) Banxiaqu (Pinelliae Fermentatum, 1 liang) Fuling (Poria, half liang) Juhong (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Rubrum, 4 qian) Chuanxiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma) Xiangfu (Cyperi Rhizoma, each 1 liang) Shenqu (Massae Medicamentosa Fermentata, stir-fried, half liang)
Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, 2 qian)
Make pills with congee, taking eighty pills per dose. If there is excess Heat, add Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma) and Zhishi (Aurantii Fructus Immaturus), one liang each. After finishing the previous medicine, take the subsequent Lisipill.
Houpo (Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex) Duzhong (Eucommiae Cortex) Guixin (Cinnamomi Ramulus) Qinjiao (Gentianae Macrophyllae Radix, each 2 qian) Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata) Fuling (Poria, each 6 qian) Baiwei (Cleomatis Caulis et Radix) Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma) Ganjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma) Niuxi (Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix) Shashen (Adenophorae Radix)
(each 2 qian) Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma, 4 qian) Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma, half liang)
Grind the above into powder, make pills with refined honey, size of small beans. Take five pills per dose on an empty stomach with wine, increasing to ten pills is acceptable. Once pregnancy is felt, stop taking it after three months.
Avoid beef and horse meat. This prevents difficult labor at term.
Note: This formula is Qingu Wan. Danxi advised against it, likely cautioning its use in emaciated individuals lacking Blood. For obese individuals with dampness, combined with the preceding regulating medicine, reducing the pill count by nine-tenths, taking only a small amount (five fen) is acceptable. These three formulas were obtained from Danxi's son Zhu Maocheng and have proven effective repeatedly.
[Haizang] Dawubu Pill Same as the three pills above.
Tianmendong (Asparagi Radix) Maidong (Ophiopogonis Radix) Changpu (Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma) Fuling (Poria) Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma) Yizhi (Alpiniae Oxyphyllae Fructus) Gouqi (Lycii Fructus) Digupi (Lycii Cortex) Yuanzhi (Polygalae Radix) Shudi (Rehmanniae Radix Praeparata, equal parts)
Grind into fine powder, make pills with refined honey, size of paulownia seeds. Take thirty pills on an empty stomach with wine. After several doses of this formula, administer Qixuan Wan to purge.
Zengsun Sancai Pill
Tianmendong (Asparagi Radix, soaked in wine, heart removed) Shudi (Rehmanniae Radix Praeparata, steamed with wine) Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma, rhizome head removed) Yuanzhi (Polygalae Radix, heart removed) Wuweizi (Schisandrae Fructus) Fuling (Poria, soaked in wine, heart removed, dried)
Lujiao (Cervi Cornus Degelatinatum, roasted with butter) One method adds Baima Jing (Equi Penis, roasted with butter). One method adds Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata) to tonify deficient Ministerial Fire. One method
adds Maidong (Ophiopogonis Radix) to enhance strength. One method
adds Xuduan (Dipsaci Radix) to strengthen sinews and bones. One method
adds Chenxiang (Aquilariae Lignum Resinatum) to warm deficiency-cold in the Lower Jiao.

[Zihe] Dairen passed through the Qiao military camp drinking. A soldier mentioned divorcing his wife. Dairen asked why. He replied: "When my wife was a maiden, she had cold accumulation under the heart like an inverted basin,
making a sloshing sound when pressed, feeling like ice when warmed by hot hands. We have been married fifteen years; I fear it will cut off my lineage, so I divorced her." Dairen said: "Do not divorce her. If you use my medicine,
the disease can be removed, and pregnancy achieved." The soldier agreed. Dairen palpated the Cun pulse as deep and slow, the Chi pulse as full and forceful, indicating this was not a case of infertility; pregnancy could occur within a year. Her husband
sighed and said: "Let us try." First, administer Sansheng San to induce vomiting of one dou of saliva/phlegm, until the area under the heart became soft; then administer Baizhu Tiaozhong Tang and Wuling San; finally harmonize with Siwu Tang. Within a month, Qi and Blood were balanced, and she conceived a son after several months. Dairen often said: "Using my method, there are no women who cannot conceive," and this statement is not false. A woman aged thirty-four dreamed of intercourse with spirits, experiencing extreme fear,
and visions of spirit halls, underworld offices, boats, and bridges, for fifteen years, without conceiving. She consulted shamans and priests extensively, drilling skin and moxing flesh, thousands of acupoints. She was sallow, feverish, thirsty, with abdominal fullness and swollen legs, resigning herself to fate. One day she bitterly requested Dairen. Dairen said: "Yang Fire is excessive above, Yin Water is excessive below. Seeing spirits is the manifestation of Yin. Spirit halls are Yin residences. Boats and bridges relate to water. Both Cun pulses are deep and hidden, indicating Phlegm-Excess in the Chest. Perform three rounds of emesis, three rounds of purgation, and three rounds of sweating. Within ten days, the dreams ceased, and she conceived within a month."
[Tai Ping Hui Min He Ji Ju Fang] Dangbao Tang Treats women who have never borne children since birth, or have been sterile for twenty to thirty years.

each ten pieces)
Cut the above ingredients. Take four qian per dose, with half cup water and half cup wine, decoct to six-tenths, strain, and take warm on an empty stomach, three times daily and once at night. Cover warmly to induce slight sweating. Expelled material will include accumulated blood and cold red pus resembling mung bean juice. Adjust dosage until fully expelled. If the patient is weak and unable to tolerate, stop after one or two doses. However, fearing incomplete expulsion of pathogenic factors and insufficient medicinal effect,
complete the course if possible; otherwise, use Sitao Yao (Vaginal Suppository Medicine).
Sitao Yao Treats complete infertility and cessation of menstruation. After taking Dangbao Tang, if pathogenic matter is not fully expelled, use this formula.
Zaojiao (Gleditsiae Sinensis Spina, skin and seeds removed) Wuzhuyu (Evodiae Fructus) Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix, each 2 liang) Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma, weeds removed) Wuweizi (Schisandrae Fructus) Ganjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma, processed. each 2 liang) Huang Kui Hua (Malvae Rosae Flower)

Grind into fine powder. Place in a silk bag the size of a finger, over three inches long, fill with medicine, tie securely, and insert into the vagina. Sit or lie as desired, avoid walking. Remove during urination and reinsert. Replace with a new one once daily. Clear yellow cold discharge will ensue; stop when discharge ceases. If no pathology is expelled, may leave in place for ten days. This is due to cold pathogenic matter in the Uterus
causing infertility. In cold weather, pain occurs. Must wait until all pathology is expelled before stopping; do not interrupt. Daily morning and evening, fumigate with Cong Cai (Allium fistulosum) decoction.
[Danxi] Discussion on Qingu Wan Causes of infertility often originate in women. Physicians fail to investigate the root cause, instead consulting ancient formulas. Only Qingu Wan has precise wording
and focused intent. Using warming herbs appeals to human desire, so patients gladly accept and eagerly take them, enduring burning harm, yet remaining ignorant and unrepentant. Why? Yang Essence is applied,
Yin Blood captures it. Essence forms the fetus, Blood forms the sac, thus conception occurs. Now, women infertile mostly suffer from insufficient Blood to capture Essence. Scarcity of Blood
has various causes. To conceive, one must regulate and tonify Yin Blood, ensuring no deficiency, thereby utilizing surplus to form the fetus. Why use heat-inducing agents recklessly,
scorching Zang-Fu organs, boiling Blood and Qi, bringing immediate disaster? Some
say: Spring warmth allows all things to grow; Winter cold causes all things to wither. Without the warmth of Qingu Wan, how can the Zi Zang (Uterus) become warm to conceive?
I say: The Book of Songs states: "When a woman is harmonious, she joyfully bears children." Harmony means balanced Blood and Qi, non-conflicting Yin and Yang. With this medicine, menstrual blood turns purple-black, gradually becoming scanty,
either early or late. Initially, appetite increases rapidly; later, bitter taste and dry mouth appear. Yin and Yang become imbalanced, Blood and Qi disharmonious, diseases arise frequently, how can conception occur? Even if conception occurs,
the child will likely be sickly and short-lived, as Qingu Wan depletes the True Yin. Beware and be cautious. (Note: Qingu Wan applied to obese individuals, with reduced dosage, combined with
regulating tonics, is acceptable. But contraindicated for emaciated individuals with excess Fire.)
[Su Wen] Disease of the Du Mai (Governor Vessel) causes female infertility.
