[Luo Tianyi] Zhu Gan Wan (Boiled Liver Pill): Treats pediatric gan eye disease (eye disorder caused by gan accumulation) accompanied by nebula, photophobia, and inability to see objects; the nebula will definitely recede after ten days of administration. Moxibustion Method for Night Blindness and Gan Eye Disease:
For pediatric night blindness where the child cannot see at night, moxibustion can be applied to the white flesh margin at the transverse crease head, one cun proximal to the nail bed on the radial side of the thumb, one mound each side. The moxa cone should be the size of a wheat grain. For pediatric gan eye disease, apply one mound each to the Hegu (LI4) acupoints. The moxa cone should be the size of a wheat grain. The acupoint is located in the depression between the first and second metacarpal bones.
[Tang] Dao Chi San (Guide Out Red Powder): Treats heart heat, dark red urine, and red, swollen eyes.
Ingredients:
Chi Shao Yao (Paeoniae Radix Rubra), Qiang Huo (Radix Notopterygii), Fang Feng (Saposhnikoviae Radix). Each 0.5 liang; Da Huang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma), Gan Cao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma). Each 1 qian.
Preparation and Administration:
Grind the above ingredients into powder. Decoct with Deng Xin Cao (Junci Medullia) and Hei Dou (Sojae Semen Nigrum), and take after meals.
I have never suffered from red eye disease in my life, but this formula works like magic. It can be used universally for both adults and children. In the initial stage of red and dry eyes, simply use one's own urine. Open the eyes while urinating, catch the urine with one finger, smear it onto the eye, and immediately close the eye. Relief occurs shortly thereafter. This method uses true qi to force out pathogenic heat.
[Ben Cao] Treats pediatric red, hot, and swollen eyes.
Ingredients:
Da Huang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma), Bai Fan (Alumen).
Preparation and Administration:
Grind the two ingredients into equal parts. Mix with cold water to form a poultice, apply to the eye, and immediate effect is achieved.
[Ming Yi Zhi Zhang] If the eyes suddenly become uneven in size and red, apply three mounds of moxibustion to the Hegu (LI4) acupoint. If severe heat-toxin and wind cause eye pain, apply three mounds of moxibustion to the base of the middle finger.
