[Prescription Verse] Sanli Fa (Sanli Abscess) presents with swelling resembling a cow's eye, located below the knee eye, characterized by coldness and congealed pain. It is caused by strain injuring the tendons combined with Stomach Heat. The swelling appears blue-black, and upon ulceration, purple blood and pus are discharged.
[Annotation] This condition arises three cun below the knee eye, between the two tendons on the anterior-lateral aspect. Initially, the swelling resembles a cow's eye, with stiffness, urgency, coldness, and pain, resulting from strain injuring the tendons and congealing of Stomach Heat. As it progresses, swelling and pain increase, turning blue-black; upon ulceration, purple blood is discharged first, followed by thin pus. Both internal and external treatments follow the protocols in the "Abscesses, Ulcers, and Sores" and "Ulcerated Lesions" sections.
Verse: Fei Zhuan Fa (Calf Abscess) occurs in the calf muscle belly, arising from aversion to cold, irritability, and accumulated heat. Redness, swelling, high elevation, pain, and discharge of pus and blood indicate a favorable prognosis; diffuse swelling, flat collapse, and discharge of clear fluid indicate an unfavorable prognosis.
[Annotation] This condition occurs in the Fei Zhuan (calf muscle belly). It results from insufficient Kidney Water and accumulated Heat in the Bladder, leading to congealment. Ancient texts consider it incurable. If there is intense redness, high swelling, severe pain, and discharge of proper pus mixed with blood, it is auspicious and represents a smooth course (Shun). If there is diffuse swelling, flat collapse, purple-dark discoloration, pain, and discharge of clear fluid, it is ominous and represents a reversed course (Ni). In the initial stage, administer Xianfang Huoming Yin (Immortal Life Elixir); after ulceration, administer Bazhen Tang (Eight-Treasure Decoction). For those with Qi and Blood deficiency, administer Shiquan Dabu Tang (Ten Significant Tonifying Decoction); for deficiency in the lower Jiao, tonify with Guifu Dihuang Wan (Cinnamon Twig and Aconite Rehmannia Pill). External treatments are the same as those for abscesses and ulcerated lesions.
Prescriptions: Xianfang Huoming Yin (see Abscesses, Ulcers, and Sores section); Bazhen Tang, Shiquan Dabu Tang (see Ulcerated Lesions section); Guifu Dihuang Wan (see Facial Sores section).
[Prescription Verse] Huangqiu Yong (Yellow Loach Carbuncle) arises on the side of the calf muscle belly. It presents with painful, hard swelling, elongated like a loach. It is caused by Damp-Heat congealing in the Liver and Spleen meridians, appearing slightly red. Discharge of thick pus indicates a favorable course; discharge of foul slough indicates an adverse course.
[Annotation] This condition arises on the medial side of the calf muscle belly. It presents with painful, hard swelling, several inches long, shaped like a loach, with a slightly red color. It results from Damp-Heat congealing in the Liver and Spleen meridians. Ulceration occurring at the appropriate time with discharge of thick pus indicates a favorable course (Shun); discharge of foul water and slough indicates an adverse course (Ni). In the initial stage, administer Wuxiang Liuqi Yin (Five-Aroma Qi-Circulating Decoction). Subsequently, both internal and external treatments follow the protocols in the "Abscesses, Ulcers, and Sores" and "Ulcerated Lesions" sections.
Prescription: Wuxiang Liuqi San (Five-Aroma Qi-Circulating Powder)
