After moxibustion, one must carefully avoid wind and cold; when emotions reach extremes, one should be cautious with daily life and diet; raw, cold foods, strong alcohol, and other rich and heavy flavors should be avoided, and only vegetables and light diets are suitable.
Annotation [1]: After any moxibustion treatment, one must carefully avoid wind and cold, regulate daily activities to nourish Qi and Blood, and ensure that the Seven Emotions (Joy, Anger, Worry, Pensiveness, Sorrow, Fear, Fright) do not become excessive. One should harmonize emotional states and prohibit the consumption of all raw, cold, alcoholic, and rich/heavy foods. Even when consuming vegetables and light diets, intake should be moderate and not excessive, to suit and nourish the Spleen and Stomach.

If the moxa sore does not erupt, it indicates exhaustion of Qi and Blood; if pus develops after seven days, the disease will surely be cured; apply a plaster when feverish to prevent external invasion, and use Coptis Rhizome (Huanglian), Scallion White (Congbai), and Coriander (Yansui) to clean the wound impurities.
Annotation [1]: In treating various diseases, if the moxa sore should erupt but does not, it signifies a severe deficiency of Qi and Blood. Re-moxibustion is unnecessary, and even if performed, it often fails to cure.
[2]: After seven days, when the moxa sore erupts with thick and abundant pus, the disease is likely to heal easily because Qi and Blood are abundant and circulating freely through the meridians.
[3]: Applying a plaster after eruption prevents invasion by the Six Exogenous Pathogens (Wind, Cold, Summerheat, Dampness, Dryness, Fire).
[4]: If the moxa sore is black and painful, with foul pus and intense heat-toxicity from the moxa fire, one must decoct Mint Herb (Bohe), Coptis Rhizome (Huanglian), Scallion Skin (Congpi), and Coriander (Yansui) in water to wash the wound, which will lead to self-healing.

Scutellaria Root (Qin), Coptis Rhizome (Lian), Angelica Dahurica Root (Baizhi), and Jinxingcao are good; Frankincense Resin (Ruxiang), Light Bamboo Shavings (Danzhu), and Angelica Sinensis Root (Danggui) are also beneficial. Add Mint Herb (Bohe), Ligusticum Chuanxiong Rhizome (Chuanxiong), and Scallion White (Congbai); fry these herbs in Sesame Oil (Xiangyou), grind into powder, and boil with Lead Powder (Qianfen) to make a plaster.
Annotation [1]: Take equal parts of the above herbs, fry them in Sesame Oil (Xiangyou), remove the dregs, then add Lead Powder (Qianfen) and boil until a plaster is formed, specifically for applying to moxa sores.

When performing needle manipulation, avoid rainy days and strong winds; avoid states of hunger, fullness, drunkenness, anger, thirst, fatigue, and fright. For men, avoid sexual intercourse (internal); for women, avoid going out (external); also check the location of the "Human Spirit" (Renshen) and avoid needling where it resides. Although such avoidance rules exist, one must still judge based on the urgency of the condition. For chronic conditions, select an auspicious day for needling; for acute conditions, slight delays or flexible timing may be applied.
Annotation [1]: Regarding avoidance rules for needling, before puncture, if there is wind, rain, or darkness, the patient's Qi and Blood become stagnant and unharmonious.
[2]: Extreme hunger leads to deficient Qi; recent fullness leads to abundant Qi; drunkenness leads to chaotic Qi; extreme anger leads to rebellious Qi; extreme thirst leads to scanty fluids; extreme labor leads to depleted Qi; extreme fright leads to scattered Qi. In all these cases, the pulse becomes disordered and Qi scatters. Needling must be avoided until the patient is clear-headed and calm, ensuring no errors.
[3]: After needling, caution is especially required. Men should avoid sexual activity (internal), and women should avoid going out (external). "Avoiding external" means firmly resisting the exit of Qi (consolidating Zheng Qi); "avoiding internal" means carefully guarding against the entry of pathogenic factors. Thus, evil Qi is expelled, and Healthy Qi recovers, which is called "Deqi" (arrival of Qi). This is the natural principle.
[4]: However, there are methods for flexibility. Chronic conditions require selecting auspicious times/days; can acute conditions wait for such timing?
