After the eruption of smallpox (or chickenpox), the lesions are arranged in a ring-like pattern resembling beads. This condition is caused by the stagnation and accumulation of toxic heat, requiring early intervention. The optimal treatment is to clear heat and detoxify; once the toxin is resolved and pustules form, the illness will naturally subside.
[Note]
The term "Huanzhu" (Ring Beads) refers to eruptions that appear surrounded in a ring, shaped like circular beads. This is caused by the stagnation of toxic qi. Early treatment is essential. The primary formula is Qingre Jiedu Tang (Clear Heat and Detoxify Decoction). Once the toxin is cleared and pus forms, the condition resolves spontaneously.
(The formula for Qingre Juedu Tang is found in the section on "Treatment of Manifesting Spots".)
Upon observation, spots are visible but feel flat upon palpation. They are irregular in shape, purple-dark in color, and resemble floating duckweed. One should promptly use a blood-cooling and toxin-attacking formula. This can loosen the toxin and cause the color to turn red.
[Note]
"Fuping" (Floating Duckweed) describes lesions that appear as spots visually but are flat to the touch, irregular in arrangement, and purple-dark in color, resembling floating duckweed. This indicates blood stasis with intense toxicity, which requires urgent attacking treatment. Promptly use Liangxue Gongdu Yin (Cool Blood and Attack Toxin Decoction) to treat it. If successful, the toxin loosens and the color becomes red and vibrant, offering hope for survival.
(The formula for Liangxue Gongdu Yin is found in the section on "Treatment of Manifesting Spots".)
Article 100:
The lesions are continuous, granular, fine, and dense. The upper part is wide while the lower part is narrow, resembling crab claws. When the lesions swell and their bases become loose, the toxin begins to resolve. Administration of Qingre Jiedu Tang (Clear Heat and Detoxify Decoction) yields merit.
[Note]
"Xiezha" (Crab Claws) refers to lesions that are continuous, with fine and dense granules, wide at the top and narrow at the bottom, resembling the shape of crab claws. Urgently treat with Qingre Jiedu Tang (Clear Heat and Detoxify Decoction) so that the continuous areas swell and the bases become loose, allowing the toxin to be resolved.
(The formula for Qingre Jiedu Tang is found in the section on "Treatment of Manifesting Spots".)
Article 101:
The lesions are tilted, flattened, and broad. Lacking a distinct apex and base, they are named "Qisha". Tongsheng San (Universal Salvation Powder) or Guizong Tang (Guizong Decoction) should be used according to circumstances. Only when the apex rises and the base becomes loose is the prognosis favorable.
[Note]
"Qisha" refers to lesions that are flattened, broad, tilted, and not round, lacking an apex and a base. If Qisha is fine and small, Songji Tongsheng San (Relax Muscle Universal Salvation Powder) should be used first. If the color is purple-dark, Guizong Tang (Guizong Decoction) should be used. When the apex rises and the base becomes loose, the condition reaches an ideal state.
(The formula for Songji Tongsheng San is found in the section on "Treatment of Head Covering".)
(The formula for Guizong Tang is found in the section on "Treatment of Fever".)
