Pediatric gan disease (a chronic condition characterized by malnutrition and emaciation due to spleen-stomach dysfunction) presents with body fever; the severity and deficiency-excess patterns must be differentiated. For early-stage cases, Qinghao Yin is appropriate; for long-standing cases, Jia San is most effective.
[Note]
Gan disease typically manifests with body fever. Practitioners should treat based on differentiation of severity and deficiency-excess patterns.
Early-onset cases are mostly excess patterns, treated primarily with Jia Qinghao Yin. Long-standing cases are mostly deficiency patterns, treated primarily with Jia San.

Chapter on Gan Diseases
Nao Gan (Brain Gan) often arises from contracting wind-heat pathogens, compounded by improper breastfeeding or feeding management. This leads to scalp that is shiny and tight, developing "bing chuang" (pancake-like sores); the head feels hot, hair becomes brittle and matted into tufts like grain ears.
Symptoms include dry nose, irritability, swollen cheeks, lethargy, dull eyes, spontaneous sweating, and body heat. Longdan Longnao Wan is highly effective, and blowing Longnao powder into the nose yields rapid results.
[Note]
Nao Gan occurs when a child has previously been affected by wind-heat, combined with inadequate nursing care, resulting in this syndrome.
Manifestations include shiny and tight scalp, brain sores resembling pancakes, head heat, brittle hair matted into tufts, dry nose, irritability, hard and swollen cheeks,
lethargy, dull eyes, spontaneous sweating, and body heat.
For brain heat causing sores, use Longdan Wan.
For irritability, heat, and emaciation, use Longnao Wan.
Externally, blow Longnao San into the nose; the syndrome will resolve spontaneously.
