Tai Chi (Neonatal Erythema) results from toxic heat acquired in the womb; after birth, the whole body appears red as if painted with cinnabar. Qingre Jiedu Tang (Heat-Clearing and Toxin-Resolving Decoction) is extremely effective, while Jiangshi Huadu Dan (Jiang's Toxin-Resolving Pill) also demonstrates remarkable efficacy.
[Note]
Tai Chi (Neonatal Erythema) occurs because the pregnant woman has consumed excessive amounts of pungent and hot foods, causing toxic heat to condense and accumulate in the Baozhong (uterus/womb). Consequently, the newborn's head, face, and limbs appear red as if painted with cinnabar, hence the name Tai Chi (Neonatal Erythema). It should primarily be treated with Qingre Jiedu Tang (Heat-Clearing and Toxin-Resolving Decoction). If the heat is severe accompanied by constipation, Jiangshi Huadu Dan (Jiang's Toxin-Resolving Pill) should be used.
(Qingre Jiedu Tang [Heat-Clearing and Toxin-Resolving Decoction]) Shengdi Huang (Rehmanniae Radix Preparata), Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma), Jinyinhua (Lonicerae Japonicae Flos), Bohe Ye (Menthae Haplocalycis Folium), Lianqiao (Forsythiae Fructus, heart removed), Chishao (Paeoniae Radix Rubra), Mutong (Akebiae Caulis), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, raw).
Decoct with Dengxincao (Junci Medulla) water for administration.
(Fangge [Prescription Verse])
Qingre Jiedu Tang deserves praise, containing Shengdi Huang, Huanglian, and Jinyinhua; Bohe, Lianqiao, and Chishao are added, along with Mutong, Gancao, and Dengxincao.
(Jiangshi Huadu Dan [Jiang's Toxin-Resolving Pill]) Xijiao (Rhinocerotis Cornu), Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma), Jiegeng (Platycodonis Radix), Yuan Shen (Scrophulariae Radix), Bohe Ye (Menthae Haplocalycis Folium), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, raw), Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, each 1 liang, raw), Qingdai (Indici Folium 5 qian).
Grind the above into fine powder, form pills using refined white honey, each pill weighing 6 fen. Take one pill per dose, dissolved and administered with Dengxincao (Junci Medulla) decoction.

Chiyou Feng (Wandering Redness) arises from fetal toxic heat; the skin becomes red, swollen, and wanders over the entire body. If located on the head and limbs, it is treatable; if it returns inward to the heart and abdomen, life is difficult to save. Internally administer Xijiao Lanye San (Rhino Horn and Isatis Leaf Powder); externally apply Bianfa (Bloodletting with a Stone Needle) and Shengong San (Shengong Powder) for miraculous effects. However, bloodletting is contraindicated for infants within one hundred days; applying paste and topical methods can bring peace.
[Note]
The syndrome of Chiyou Feng (Wandering Redness) in children mostly results from fetal toxic heat, or excessive warmth after birth causes toxic heat to evaporate outward. This leads to red, hot, and swollen skin, appearing like cinnabar paint and wandering不定ly across the body, hence named Chiyou Feng (Wandering Redness). It frequently occurs between the head, face, and limbs. If the pathogen returns inward to the heart and abdomen, death ensues. The treatment method is to take Xijiao Jiedu Yin (Rhino Horn Toxin-Resolving Decoction). If not cured, continue with Lanye San (Isatis Leaf Powder). Externally use Bianfa (Bloodletting with a Stone Needle) to prick out toxic blood. For severe toxicity, apply Shengong San (Shengong Powder); for mild toxicity, no external application is needed. For infants within one hundred days, bloodletting is contraindicated because their muscles cannot withstand it; instead, the Zhu Rou Tie Fa (Raw Pork Paste Method) must be used, or Chixiaodou Mo (Red Adzuki Bean Powder) mixed with Jizi Qing (Egg White) applied topically, which is very effective.
(Xijiao Jiedu Yin [Rhino Horn Toxin-Resolving Decoction]) Niubangzi (Arctii Fructus, stir-fried), Xijiao (Rhinocerotis Cornu), Jingjie Sui (Schizonepetae Spica), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix), Lianqiao (Forsythiae Fructus, heart removed), Jinyinhua (Lonicerae Japonicae Flos), Chishao (Paeoniae Radix Rubra), Sheng Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, raw), Chuan Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma), Sheng Di Huang (Rehmanniae Radix Preparata). Decoct with Dengxincao (Junci Medulla) water for administration.
(Fangge [Prescription Verse])
Xijiao Jiedu Yao is the best medicine; Niubang and Xijiao combined with Jingjie and Fangfeng; Lianqiao, Yinhua, and Chishao are added, along with Gancao, Chuan Lian, and Sheng Di Huang.
(Lanye San [Isatis Leaf Powder]) Lanye (Isatidis Folium 5 qian), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix), Xijiao Xie (Rhinocerotis Cornu cuttings), Chuan Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, sliced and lightly stir-fried), Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix), Zhizi (Gardeniae Fructus, each 2 qian, raw), Chuan Shengma ( Cimicifugae Rhizoma 1 qian), Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum), Sheng Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, raw 1 qian). Grind the above into coarse powder. Take 1 qian per dose, with one small cup of water, decoct until reduced to half a cup, remove dregs, add one wine glass of Zhuli (Bamboo Sap), boil three times vigorously. Warm it up and administer according to the infant's size. For those with weak Qi, Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma) may be omitted.
(Bianxue Fa [Bloodletting Method with Stone Needle])
Suck the toxic blood gathered in one place with the mouth. Crush a fine porcelain vessel, take the sharp fragments, split the end of a tendon/claw-like tool to clamp the fragment, tie it securely with thread. Hold the tip lightly with two fingers, align the porcelain shard with the site of pooled blood, and repeatedly strike with another tendon/claw-like tool to prick out the toxic blood. After Bianfa (Bloodletting with a Stone Needle), if toxicity is severe, apply Shengong San (Shengong Powder); if mild, do not use it after pricking, lest the skin break and Caowu (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Preparata) cause pain. If the lesion is on the head, do not use Bianfa (Bloodletting with a Stone Needle); only use a needle laid horizontally to pierce and挑 (lift/pick) the affected area to release toxic blood, then it will heal.
(Shengong San [Shengong Powder]) Huangbo (Phellodendri Cortex, stir-fried), Caowu (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Preparata, raw). Grind the above into powder, use equal parts, mix with mouthwash (shukoushui) to form a paste for application, and frequently moisten with mouthwash.
(Zhurou Tie Fa [Raw Pork Paste Method]) Use slices of raw pork, apply to the red and swollen area, change frequently.
(Tu Fa [Topical Application Method]) Take any amount of raw Chixiaodou (Vigna angularis var. nipponica seeds), grind into fine powder, mix with Jizi Qing (Egg White) to apply topically to the affected area. Reapply when dry.
