子,庚午也. 以阴年名曰: 同岁会, 如水运水在泉, 辛丑, 辛未也 ;
12. On the palm, the upper end of the middle finger determines the position of the Si Tian (Si Tian refers to one of the six Qi governing the climate of the first half of the year), and the root crease of the middle finger determines the position of the Zai Quan (Zai Quan refers to one of the six Qi governing the climate of the second half of the year). Proceeding along the fingers, the second and third segments of the index finger correspond to the First Qi and Second Qi respectively; the head segment of the fourth finger (ring finger) corresponds to the Fourth Qi, and its second segment corresponds to the Fifth Qi. The Si Tian Qi is located at the position of the Third Qi, and the Zai Quan Qi naturally occupies the position of the Sixth Qi. The Zhu Qi (Zhu Qi refers to the six steps of climate change that remain fixed annually) follows the sequence of Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water; the Ke Qi (Ke Qi refers to the six steps of climate change that rotate annually) is named using Yin-Yang and One-Two-Three.
[Annotation] With the left hand palm facing up, the area above the tip of the middle finger marks the position of Si Tian, and the transverse crease at the base of the middle finger marks the position of Zai Quan. Moving sequentially towards the index finger, the third segment crease of the index finger marks the position of the First Qi, and the head segment crease marks the position of the Second Qi. The area above the tip of the middle finger marks the position of the Third Qi, which is the position of Si Tian. The head segment crease of the fourth finger (ring finger) marks the position of the Fourth Qi, and the second segment crease marks the position of the Fifth Qi. The transverse crease at the base of the middle finger marks the position of the Sixth Qi, which is the position of Zai Quan. The term "Zhu Qi" following the order of Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water refers to the five positions where the Five Elements Qi are distributed in sequence. Therefore, the First Qi is Jue Yin Wind-Wood; the Second Qi is Shao Yin Sovereign-Fire; the Third Qi is Shao Yang Minister-Fire; the Fourth Qi is Tai Yin Damp-Earth; the Fifth Qi is Yang Ming Dry-Metal; and the Sixth Qi is Tai Yang Cold-Water. This represents the generative sequence of Wood generating Fire, Fire generating Earth, Earth generating Metal, Metal generating Water, and Water generating Wood, which is fixed and unchangeable. The term "Ke Qi" being named by One, Two, Three refers to the superposition of the Six Qi of Three Yin and Three Yang. Thus, Jue Yin is One Yin, Shao Yin is Two Yin, Tai Yin is Three Yin, Shao Yang is One Yang, Yang Ming is Two Yang, and Tai Yang is Three Yang. This reflects the principle that One generates Two, Two generates Three, and Three regenerates One; when Yin reaches its extreme, Yang is born; when Yang reaches its extreme, Yin is born. This is the sequence of ascent and descent of the six steps, arranged annually. By using this positioning method, the Zhu Qi and Ke Qi become clear within the grasp of the hand (Figure 17).
13. Tian Fu (Tian Fu refers to years where the Central Yun is identical to the Si Tian Qi) indicates that the Central Yun is identical to the Heavenly Qi. Sui Hui (Sui Hui refers to years where the Central Yun shares the same elemental attribute as the Earthly Branch) means the original Yun governs its own branch position. The four cardinal directions and four intercardinal directions are all Sui Hui, while Tai Yi Tian Fu (Tai Yi Tian Fu refers to years where Central Yun, Si Tian, and Earthly Branch are all identical) involves the convergence of these符会 (Fu Hui). Tong Tian Fu (Tong Tian Fu refers to years where the Central Yun is identical to the Zai Quan Qi in a Yang year) and Tong Sui Hui (Tong Sui Hui refers to years where the Central Yun is identical to the Zai Quan Qi in a Yin year) imply that the Zai Quan Qi is identical to the Central Yun, thus sharing the same governance. Yin years are called Tong Sui Hui, and Yang years are known as Tong Tian Fu.
[Annotation] Tian Fu refers to years where the Zhong Yun (Zhong Yun refers to the Five Elements Qi governing the climate of the entire year) and the Si Tian Qi belong to the same category of Qi. For example: Wood Yun with Wood Si Tian, such as Ding Si year and Ding Hai year; Fire Yun with Fire Si Tian, such as Wu Zi year, Wu Wu year, Wu Yin year, and Wu Shen year; Earth Yun with Earth Si Tian, such as Ji Chou year and Ji Wei year; Metal Yun with Metal Si Tian, such as Yi Mao year and Yi You year; Water Yun with Water Si Tian, such as Bing Chen year and Bing Xu year, totaling twelve years. Sui Hui refers to the situation where the original Yun governs its own branch position (where the Earthly Branch's elemental attribute matches the Yun). For example: Wood Yun governing Mao (Mao belongs to Wood) is Ding Mao year; Fire Yun governing Wu (Wu belongs to Fire) is Wu Wu year; Metal Yun governing You (You belongs to Metal) is Yi You year; Water Yun governing Zi (Zi belongs to Water) is Bing Zi year. These are called the Four Cardinal Directions. Earth Yun governing the four seasons (Chen, Xu, Chou, Wei all belong to Earth) are Jia Chen year, Jia Xu year, Ji Chou year, and Ji Wei year. These are called the Four Intercardinal Directions, totaling eight years. Tai Yi Tian Fu refers to years that are both Tian Fu and Sui Hui, meaning the Heavenly Qi (Si Tian), Yun Qi (Zhong Yun), and Sui Zhi (Earthly Branch) converge. For example: In Ji Chou and Ji Wei years, the Zhong Yun is Earth, which matches the Earth Si Tian, and Earth Yun governs Chou and Wei (which belong to Earth); in Yi You year, the Zhong Yun is Metal, matching the Metal Si Tian, and Metal Yun governs You; in Wu Wu year, the Zhong Yun is Fire, matching the Fire Si Tian, and Fire Yun governs Wu. This totals four years. Tong Tian Fu and Tong Sui Hui refer to years where the Zai Quan Qi and the Zhong Yun belong to the same category of Qi. Yang years are named Tong Tian Fu, such as Wood Yun with Wood Zai Quan, like Ren Yin year and Ren Shen year; Earth Yun with Earth Zai Quan, like Jia Chen year and Jia Xu year; Metal Yun with Metal Zai Quan, like Geng Zi year and Geng Wu year. Yin years are named Tong Sui Hui, such as Water Yun with Water Zai Quan, like Xin Chou year and Xin Wei year; Fire Yun with Fire Zai Quan, like Gui Mao year, Gui You year, Gui Si year, and Gui Hai year, totaling twelve years. These differences in the convergence of Qi and Yun must be understood. There are twelve years of Shang Tian Fu, four years of Tai Yi Tian Fu, eight years of Sui Hui, six years of Tong Tian Fu, and six years of Tong Sui Hui. However, the four years of Tai Yi Tian Fu are already included within the twelve years of Tian Fu. Among the eight years of Sui Hui, four are also included within the Tian Fu. In summary, out of sixty years, only twenty-eight years meet these specific conditions (Figure 18-20).
