[Song of the Yang Wei Vessel's Course]
The Yang Wei vessel originates from the Foot-Taiyang Bladder Meridian, at the Jinmen (BL63) point located below the lateral malleolus. It travels along the posterior aspect of the lower leg, the lateral back, the shoulder, the nape, the face, and the head, connecting all Yang meridians and converging with the Du Mai (Governing Vessel).
Annotation:
[1] The Yang Wei vessel originates at the Jinmen (BL63) point, located below the lateral malleolus of the Foot-Taiyang Bladder Meridian.
[2] From the posterior tibia, the lateral back, the scapula, the side of the neck, the face, to the Fengfu (DU16) point at the back of the head, it connects the various Yang vessels and meets the Du Mai (see Figure 86).
[Song of the Acupoints on the Yang Wei Vessel]
The starting acupoint of the Yang Wei vessel is Jinmen (BL63), followed by Naoshu (SI14), Tianliao (TE15), and Shenjing (GB21); further along are Benshen (GB13), Yangbai (GB14), and Zulinqi (GB41); then Zhengying (GB17), Naokong (GB18), and Fengchi (GB20) are visited in sequence. The two points, Fengfu (DU16) and Fengmen (BL12), located where the hairline begins at the back of the neck, serve as its root.
[Song of the Measurements of Points on the Yang Wei Vessel]
The Yang Wei vessel originates from the Foot-Taiyang Bladder Meridian, hidden at Jinmen (BL63), one cun below the lateral malleolus. At seven cun above the lateral malleolus lies Yangjiao (GB35); at the back of the shoulder, above the scapula, is Naoshu (SI14).
Tianliao (TE15) is located above the clavicular fossa; Shenjing (GB21) is in the depression on top of the shoulder. Benshen (GB13) is approximately four fen inside the hairline; Yangbai (GB14) is described as one cun above the eyebrow.
Linqi (GB41) is five fen inside the hairline; moving upward one cun leads to Zhengying (GB17). Below the occipital bone lies Naokong (GB18); Fengchi (GB20) is situated in the depression outside the large tendon behind the ear.
Fengmen (BL12) is located where the hairline begins at the back of the neck; Fengfu (DU16) is one cun inside the hairline.
Annotation:
[1] The statement that the Yang Wei vessel originates from the meeting of all Yang vessels refers to its origin at Jinmen (BL63), one cun below the lateral malleolus of the Foot-Taiyang Bladder Meridian.
[2] From Jinmen (BL63), it travels to Yangjiao (GB35), seven cun above the lateral malleolus on the Foot-Shaoyang Gallbladder Meridian.
[3] It also meets with the Hand-Taiyang, Foot-Taiyang, and Yin-Yang Qiao vessels at Naoshu (SI14), located below the greater tubercle of the humerus and at the upper edge of the scapula.
[4] It also meets with the Hand-Shaoyang and Foot-Shaoyang vessels at Tianliao (TE15), located in the clavicular fossa at the margin of the clavicle.
[5] It also meets at Shenjing (GB21), located in the depression on top of the shoulder.
[6] Ascending from Shenjing (GB21) to the head, it meets the Foot-Shaoyang Gallbladder Meridian at Yangbai (GB14), one cun above the eyebrow.
[7] Ascending from Yangbai (GB14) above the eye and directly into the hairline are Benshen (GB13) and Zulinqi (GB41).
[8) Moving upward two cun from Linqi (GB41) is Zhengying (GB17).
[9] Following Zhengying (GB17) to below the occipital bone is Naokong (GB18).
[10] Descending from Naokong (GB18) to the lateral edge of the large tendon behind the ear is Fengchi (GB20).
[11] It also meets the Du Mai at Fengfu (DU16) and Fengmen (BL12) at the back of the neck; these are the sites where the Qi of the Yang Wei vessel emerges (Figure 87).
