The *Zhu Bing Yuan Hou Lun* (Treatise on the Pathogenesis and Manifestations of All Diseases) states: In individuals with abundant menstrual blood, there is an excess of Jin-Ye (body fluids), resulting in excessive milk production and leakage.
The *Ge Shi Fang* (Prescriptions by Master Ge) states: For cases where milk engorgement causes urgent pain, apply hot stones for moxibustion-like warming therapy (Fu-Re).
It further states: If milk flows uncontrollably due to breastfeeding, burn chicken egg yolks and consume them.
The *Zi Mi Lu* (Secret Records of Mother and Child) states: Postpartum "Du Ru" (jealous breast/milk engorgement) occurs when milk leaks irregularly and accumulates internally, eventually forming an abscess; this condition is named Du Ru. It is more acute than typical carbuncles and sores (Yong Ju); its treatment is similar to that of internal abscesses.
The *Chan Jing* (Classic of Childbirth) states: Postpartum women should diligently express milk to prevent accumulation. If accumulated milk is not discharged promptly, it binds internally, causing severe pain and thirst, leading to suppuration.
It further states: A prescription for treating Du Ru swelling:
Mash cooked Plantago asiatica herb (Che Qian Cao) and apply topically after mixing with vinegar (Ku Jiu).
The *Duan Ju Fang* (Short Drama Prescriptions) for treating Du Ru:
Apply fresh Rehmannia glutinosa juice (Sheng Di Huang Zhi) externally.
Another prescription:
Grind Malva verticillata root (Kui Gen) into powder; take one cun-bi (a measuring spoon approx. 1 cubic inch) per dose, three times daily.
The *Hua Tuo Fang* (Prescriptions of Hua Tuo) for treating Du Ru:
Take fresh Vitex trifolia root (Sheng Man Jing Gen), mix with salt, pound into a paste, boil with water until combined; take five doses daily, or apply the dregs as a topical poultice.
The *Ge Shi Fang* for treating Du Ru:
Collect dust from roof beams, mix with vinegar, and apply topically. This also treats vulvar swelling.
Another prescription:
Bark of Ulmus pumila (Yu Bai Pi), pound and mix with vinegar for topical application.
The *Zhu Bing Yuan Hou Lun* states: Due to inherent deficiency of the Zi-Zang (uterus/womb), cold qi invades during childbirth. The Qi and Blood, affected by cold, fail to nourish each other, causing the vaginal opening to gape open.
The *Qian Jin Fang* (Essential Prescriptions Worth a Thousand Gold) for treating postpartum labor-induced gaping of Yu Men (vaginal opening):
Litharge (Liu Huang, four liang), Dodder seed (Tu Si Zi, five fen), Evodia fruit (Wu Zhu Yu, six fen), Cnidium fruit (She Chuang Zi, four fen).
Pound these four ingredients, sift them into a powder yielding one sheng. Take one cun-bi and add to warm water to wash the Yu Men twice daily.
It further states: A prescription for treating postpartum vaginal gaping:
Calcined iron ore/Scoria (Duan Shi, one sheng, calcined until capable of burning grass).
Use this single ingredient; add two sheng of water, adjust temperature to suit, and sit in the solution for soaking. Normalcy returns shortly. This is a divine prescription, kept secret but verified effective through multiple cures. (Current annotation: The *Yi Men Fang* records using one dou of Duan Shi with two dou of water, clarifying to obtain one dan san sheng.)
