Bencao (Materia Medica) states: The venom of spiders can be resolved using Indigofera tinctoria Leaf (Lanqing, 蓝青) and Moschus (Shexiang, 麝香).
Shiyi (Supplementary Records) states: Apply seeds of Brassica rapa var. trilocularis (Wujingzi, 芜菁子) mixed with oil to the spider bite to prevent the toxin from entering the interior. It can also be ground into powder and taken with wine. There are no spiders in gardens of Vitex trifolia (Manjing, 蔓荆) because they mutually repel each other.
It further states: Earth wasps are red-black in color. Burn them into ash, mix with oil, and apply to spider bite sores. This insect feeds on spiders, demonstrating mutual subjugation.
Qianjin Fang (Essential Prescriptions Worth a Thousand Gold) states: Mix Sesame Oil (Wuma You, 乌麻油) and Lead Carbonate (Hufen, 胡粉) into a paste for application. Change when dry.
Guangji Fang (Broad Salvation Prescriptions) states: Take rust from iron clothing, grind it with vinegar to extract juice, and apply.
Yimen Fang (Medical Gate Prescriptions) states: For spider bites that do not heal after a year:
Apply fresh leaves of Pinellia ternata (Banxia Miao, 半夏苗); this is highly effective.
Jiyao Fang (Essential Prescriptions) states: Powderize Bombyx Batryticatus (Bai Jiangcan, 白僵蚕), mix with saliva, and apply.
Another prescription: Crush Metapogon caudatus (Luocao, 萝草) into a paste and apply as a dressing.
Yet another prescription: Use one liang of Willow Bark (Liupi, 柳皮) and one liang of Pinellia ternata Rhizome (Banxia, 半夏), burn them into ash, and apply.
Chuanxin Fang (Prescriptions of Faithful Transmission) states: For treating spider bites resulting in silk-like growths all over the body:
Consume only goat milk for an extended period until cured.
In the 11th year of Zhenyuan era, I happened to visit the residence of Official Xi. Cui Congzhi, an official from the Ministry of Justice, discussed this prescription with me. Cui said he witnessed someone bitten by a spider on the abdomen; the abdomen swelled like pregnancy, and silk-like structures grew all over the body. The family abandoned him, and he begged on the streets. A monk met him and taught him to drink goat milk, resulting in recovery and restoration of normal appearance.
Bingyuan Lun (Treatise on Disease Origins) states: On rocks, plants, and roads in mountains, leeches attach to humans, piercing and biting the skin and muscle, causing creeping ulcers.
Qianjin Fang states: Moxibustion at the site to block their path leads to cure.
It further states: When walking in mountain grasslands, always mix lard from the twelfth lunar month with salt and apply to calves and between toes, or put it in shoes, to prevent leeches from attaching.
Chuanxin Fang treats earthworm bites:
Frequently soak and wash with strong saline solution until healed.
Zhang Shao, a military general in Zhejiang West Circuit, was bitten by these creatures. His condition resembled Hansen's disease (Da Feng, 大风), with loss of eyebrows and hair. Every night, earthworms were heard chirping inside his body. A monk met him on the road and taught him this method, leading to quick recovery.
