*Zhubing Yuanhou Lun* (Treatise on the Pathogenesis and Manifestations of All Diseases) states: In cases where metal wounds penetrate internally with massive internal hemorrhage, if abdominal distension, fullness in both hypochondriac regions, and inability to eat occur, death ensues. If blood stasis remains within, causing abdominal distension, a firm and large pulse indicates survival, whereas a deep and fine pulse indicates death.
The *Ge Shi Fang* (Prescriptions by Master Ge) provides formulas for internal hemorrhage:
Administer two "fang cun bi" (a measure roughly equivalent to a square inch spoonful) of Puhuang (Caulis et Flos Nelumbinis), and the blood will be expelled immediately.
Another formula:
Boil Vigna angularis (Adzuki Bean), and drink five sheng (approx. 1 liter) of its juice.
Yet another formula:
Fill a vessel with hot water and apply it as a warm compress to the abdomen; allowing the heat to penetrate deeply will dissipate the blood stasis.
Yet another formula:
Dig a pit in the ground, pour water into it, and stir. Drink approximately two sheng (approx. 0.4 liters) of the turbid liquid.
The *Qianjin Fang* (Essential Prescriptions Worth a Thousand Gold) offers a formula for internal hemorrhage from metal wounds:
Grind Mudanpi (Cortex Moutan) into a powder, take three "zhi cuo" (a measure taken with three fingers) with water, and bloody urine will be expelled immediately.
The *Yimen Fang* (Medical Gate Prescriptions) provides a formula for metal wound internal hemorrhage with severe abdominal fullness approaching death:
Baizhi (Radix Angelicae Dahuricae), Huangqi (Radix Astragali), Danggui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis), Xuduan (Radix Dipsaci), Xiongqiong (Radix Chuanxiong) (each 8 fen), Gancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae, 6 fen, prepared by roasting), Puhuang (Caulis et Flos Nelumbinis), Dihuang (Radix Rehmanniae Preparata) (each 12 fen).
Pulverize and sieve into a powder. Take one "fang cun bi" with wine on an empty stomach, three times daily. The blood stasis will transform and be discharged as fluid. If trismus (lockjaw) is present, add Dahuang (Radix et Rhizoma Rhei) 12 fen.
*Zhubing Yuanhou Lun* states: Metal wounds often damage meridians and collaterals, depleting blood and qi. While the wound has not healed, blood and qi remain deficient. If sexual intercourse occurs under these circumstances, emotional arousal leads to the release of yin and yang energies, and shock disturbs the wound, causing blood and fluids to flow out again.
*Ge Shi Fang* states: If sexual intercourse occurs before the metal wound has healed, resulting in leaking blood and shock, it can be fatal. Emergency treatment:
Immediately dust the wound with Puhuang powder.
Another formula:
Take a three-cun (approx. 10 cm) strip of the girdle from the woman's middle skirt involved in the act, burn it to ash, and ingest it.
The *Yimen Fang* provides a formula for wind-stroke following metal wounds, characterized by trismus and approaching death:
Use 1 jin (approx. 500-600g) of fresh Gegen (Puerariae Radix), chop it, boil in nine sheng (approx. 1.8 liters) of water until reduced to three sheng (approx. 0.6 liters), remove the dregs, and divide into three doses. If fresh Gegen is unavailable, use dried Gegen powder, taking three "zhi cuo" with warm wine. If trismus is present, drinking abundant Zhuli (Bambusae Caulis in Taeniam) is also beneficial.
*Ge Shi Fang* states: Patients with metal wounds should avoid anger, loud talking, excessive laughter, thinking about sexual matters, strenuous physical activity, consuming salty or sour foods, drinking alcohol, and eating hot soups, as all these factors cause pain in the wound. It takes one hundred days to half a year after the wound heals for the body to gradually return to normal.
It also states: Excessive consumption of porridge-like foods can cause blood to overflow and lead to death.
*Tao Hongjing's Commentary on Bencao* states: Patients with metal wounds are prohibited from eating pork and pears.
