Yangmei Chuang (Syphilitic Chancre) is named after its morphological characteristics. It originates from the pathogenic factors of damp-heat and wind-toxin, which penetrate deeply into the body. The resulting sores are severe. If treated correctly, recovery can be expected within a month; if treatment is inappropriate, the condition may persist for years. Medications containing Qinfen (Calomel, Hg2Cl2) must be strictly avoided as they may damage the sinews and bones.
For Yangmei Chuang in its early stage, in patients with robust constitution and sufficient Zheng Qi (Upright Qi), it is appropriate to first use purgation to clear heat and toxin, employing Fangfeng Tongsheng San (Saposhnikovia Decoction for Unblocking the Great Ancestors).
If Yangmei Chuang begins with aversion to cold, high fever, and body pain, sweating method should be used to expel wind and pursue toxins, employing Soufeng Zhuidu San (Wind-Expelling and Toxin-Chasing Powder), which is Wuyao Shunqi San (Aucklandia Decoction for Regulating Qi) added with Ruxiang (Frankincense, Resina Draconis) and Moyao (Myrrh, Resina Myrrhae).
