Treats all kinds of carbuncles, sores, and malignant ulcers.
When a person first feels the onset of a back carbuncle (a carbuncle occurring on the back), before it has fully formed, presenting with redness, swelling, and pain, cover the area with a wet paper; the spot that dries out first indicates the head of the abscess. Take a slice of single-clove garlic and place it on the head of the abscess, then apply moxibustion. Replace the garlic slice after every three moxa cones (Zhuang). If there is pain, moxa until the pain ceases; if there is no pain, moxa until pain appears, which is considered ideal. The most important principle is to detect it early and treat with moxibustion as soon as possible. If there are ten or more heads, grind the garlic into a paste, make it into a cake, spread it over the heads, and burn the moxa cones gathered on top of the garlic cake. If the initial presentation is a patch of redness and swelling with a small yellow millet-grain-sized pustule in the center, place a slice of single-clove garlic on the head and apply fourteen or forty-nine moxa cones, allowing the toxic factors to exit outward, which facilitates healing. (Li Xun stated: For treating carbuncles and sores, moxibustion is superior to medication. Change the moxa every three cones, with one hundred cones as the standard limit. However, moxibustion must absolutely not be used on the head and neck, lest it draw Qi upward and cause greater disaster. Shi Yuan stated: Some cases involve up to eight hundred cones, consuming approximately one sieve of moxa. Initially, necrotic tissue does not hurt; only when healthy flesh is reached does pain occur. By night, the heat fills the back, and hundreds of holes appear at the elevated points, allowing toxins to exit outward; otherwise, toxins will press inward against the five Zang organs, leading to danger. *Bencao Gangmu* states: *Waike Jingyao* claims that toxicity on the head cannot be treated with moxibustion, which is incorrect! The head is the gathering point of all Yang meridians; moxa cones should be small, and the number of cones few—small like a pepper grain, and few, only three to five cones.)
For all kinds of carbuncles, sores, and swelling/toxicity. Use hibiscus flower, or leaves, or root bark, crush them into a paste, or dry and grind into powder. Mix with honey and apply around the periphery, leaving the head exposed. When dry, apply Lianggao, Qinglu San, or Tiegu San, all of which are made from this substance. Alternatively, add powder of Adzuki Bean (*Vigna angularis*), or powder of prepared *Xanthium fructus* (burned to retain its nature), which is also excellent. (Hibiscus is acrid and neutral in nature...)
Women's diseases are the same as men's; however, during menstruation and pregnancy, they cannot be treated according to general rules. Therefore, several prescriptions for obstetrics, gynecology, menstruation, and leukorrhea are selected for reference. Prescriptions that can be used by both men and women are not repeated here.
(Haizang [Zhang Yuansu])
Treats cold damage (Shanghan) during pregnancy, characterized by headache, fever, absence of sweating, and a tight pulse, indicating a disease of the Taiyang meridian.
Siwu Tang (Four liang total, one liang per ingredient) Ephedrae Herba (Mahuang, 麻黄) Asari Radix et Rhizoma (Xixin, 细辛) (Five qian)
These are medicines for the Foot-Taiyang Bladder Meridian. Generally, the treatment principles for the Six Meridians in women with cold damage are the same. However, in pregnant women, the primary focus is to calm the fetus; medications that harm the fetus should be avoided.

Treats cold damage during pregnancy with table-deficiency, spontaneous sweating, fever, aversion to cold, and headache...
Shiliu... Qiao... Chaihu... Jada... Chen Shu, this is a disease of the Taiyang and Yangming meridians; urgent purgation is required (Rhubiz Radix et Rhizoma (Dahuang, 大黄) and Peach Kernel (Taoren, 桃仁) are contraindicated in pregnancy, yet occasionally used in cold damage treatment, under the premise that the medicine matches the disease. The classic states: "If a woman is heavily pregnant, how should toxic drugs be used?" Qibo replied: "If there is an existing pathology, there will be no injury to the mother or fetus." This refers to such cases.)
Renshen Liuhe Tang (Ginseng Six-Harmony Decoction): Composed of Siwu Tang (Four liang) plus Ginseng Radix (Renshen, 人参) and Schisandrae Fructus (Wuweizi, 五味子) (Five qian each). Treats persistent coughing after sweating or purging in pregnant women with cold damage.

Treats deficiency-type bloating and fullness after cold damage in pregnancy, indicating Yangming deficiency (Ben refers to the Stomach Fu organ).
Zhizi Liuhe Tang (Gardenia Six-Harmony Decoction): Composed of Siwu Tang (Four liang) plus Gardeniae Fructus (Zhizi, 栀子) and Scutellariae Radix (Huangqin, 黄芩) (Five qian each). Treats insomnia after sweating or purging in pregnant women with cold damage.
Shigao Liuhe Tang (Gypsum Six-Harmony Decoction): Composed of Siwu Tang (Four liang) plus Gypsum Fibrosum (Shigao, 石膏) and Anemarrhenae Rhizoma (Zhimu, 知母) (Five qian each). Treats severe thirst and irritability with a long and large pulse in pregnant women with cold damage.
Fuling Liuhe Tang (Poria Six-Harmony Decoction): Composed of Siwu Tang (Four liang) plus Poria (Fuling, 茯苓) and Alisma Rhizoma (Zexie, 泽泻) (Five qian each). Treats difficult urination in pregnant women with cold damage, indicating a disease of the Taiyang meridian (Ben refers to the Bladder Fu organ).
Jiao'ai Siwu Tang (Donkey-Hide Gel and Mugwort Siwu Decoction): Composed of Siwu Tang (Four liang) plus Donkey-Hide Gel (Ejiao, 阿胶) and Mugwort Leaf (Aiyè, 艾叶) (Five qian each). (One formula adds Licorice Root (Gancao, 甘草); another adds Licorice Root, Scutellariae Radix, and Dried Ginger (Ganjiang, 干姜)). Treats continuous vaginal bleeding damaging the fetal qi after sweating or purging in pregnant women with cold damage.
Fuzi Liuhe Tang (Aconite Six-Harmony Decoction): Composed of Siwu Tang (Four liang) plus Prepared Aconite Root (Fuzi, 附子) and Cinnamon Bark (Rougui, 肉桂) (Five qian each). Treats cold damage during pregnancy with limb stiffness, cool body with slight sweating, abdominal pain, and a deep, slow pulse, indicating Shaoyin disease (Cinnamon and Aconite are also acrid-hot herbs that may disturb the fetus, but are occasionally used when necessary).
Siwu Dahuang Tang (Siwu with Rhubarb Decoction): Composed of Siwu Tang (Four liang) plus Rehmanniae Radix Preparata (Shengdi, 生地) and Rhizoma et Radix Notopterygii (Dahuang, 大黄) (Five qian each, soaked in wine). Treats blood stasis syndrome in pregnant women with cold damage. (The verse states: "If a pregnant woman has blood stasis, do not recklessly use Digang Decoction [containing Persicae Semen and Euphorbiae Kansui]; to save both mother and child without harm, divide Rhubarb and Siwu Tang equally." Wu Shou stated: "Postpartum cold damage should not be lightly treated with diaphoresis. Fever may arise from exertion during delivery, excessive blood loss, incomplete lochia expulsion, breast engorgement on the third day, or early labor/dietary stagnation, all mimicking cold damage. Careful differentiation is essential. Generally, postpartum blood deficiency means sweating can lead to muscle twitching, coma, convulsions, or constipation, causing serious harm. For any fever, initially administer Siwu Tang, using Angelicae Sinensis Radix (Danggui, 当归) and Ligusticum Chuanxiong Rhizoma (Chuanxiong, 川芎) as sovereign herbs in high doses. White Peony Root (Baishao, 白芍) should be stir-fried, supported by Wine-processed Rehmanniae Radix Preparata (Shudihuang, 熟地黄), combined with soft-stalk Bupleuri Radix (Chaihu, 柴胡), Dried Ginger, and Ginseng for best effect. Dried Ginger is acrid-hot, guiding blood-invigorating herbs into the blood level and Qi-regulating herbs into the Qi level; it eliminates old blood and generates new blood, following the principle of Yang generating Yin, and treating heat with heat aligns deeply with the *Neijing*. For incomplete lochia, Yimu Wan or Heishen Wan must be used concurrently. For stomach deficiency and poor appetite, add Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma (Baizhu, 白术) and Poria; for phlegm and vomiting, add Tangerine Peel (Chenpi, 陈皮) and Pinelliae Rhizoma (Banxia, 半夏). The treatment principles for the Six Meridians remain the same. Siwu Tang must be the foundation, as it is the key to nourishing blood and addressing the root.")
