Pediatric abdominal masses, characterized by a distended abdomen and prominent subcutaneous veins, are invariably caused by blood stasis. This formula, along with the Tongqiao Huoxue Tang (Tongqiao Blood-Activating Decoction) and Xuefu Zhuyu Tang (Xuefu Stasis-Removing Decoction) mentioned earlier, should be administered in rotation. Within a month, there is no case that fails to succeed.
For any abdominal pain that remains fixed in location without moving, it indicates blood stasis; treating it with this formula yields excellent results.
When patients experience a sensation of an object in the abdomen during sleep, feeling a dragging pain to the left when lying on the left side, and to the right when lying on the right side, this signifies internal blood stasis. Use this formula as the primary treatment; if accompanied by other miscellaneous symptoms, combine it with other herbs accordingly.
Diarrhea occurring two or three times during the Wugeng period (5:00–7:00 AM), traditionally named Kidney Diarrhea (Shen Xie), is often attributed to Kidney deficiency. Treatments using Ershen Wan (Two Spirits Pill) or Sishen Wan (Four Spirits Pill) often prove ineffective, with cases persisting for years. The difficulty lies in not knowing the source of the disease. In reality, the root cause is blood stasis in the "Zongti" (a term used by Wang Qingren referring to the diaphragmatic region/liver-spleen area). When lying down, this stasis blocks the "Jinmen" (gate of fluids/jointure gate), preventing normal fluid excretion. Instead, fluids enter the Small Intestine and mix with feces, resulting in loose stools and morning diarrhea. Using this formula to remove the blood stasis from the Zongti allows the Jinmen to open freely, restoring normal fluid metabolism and stopping diarrhea. Three to five doses can lead to recovery.
Chronic diarrhea unresponsive to various treatments is due to excessive blood stasis in the Zongti; this formula should also be used.
Hong Qu (Dang Shen's Parthenium Fruit, fried, 2 qian), Dang Gui (Angelica Sinensis Root, 3 qian), Chuan Xiong (Ligusticum Chuanxiong Rhizome, 2 qian), Tao Ren (Prunus Persica Seed, pounded into paste, 3 qian), Dan Pi (Moutan Cortex, 2 qian), Chi Shao (Paeonia Lactiflora Root, 2 qian), Wu Yao (Lindera Root, 2 qian), Yuan Hu (Corydalis Rhizome, 1 qian), Gan Cao (Glycyrrhiza Uralensis Root, 3 qian), Xiang Fu (Cyperus Rotundus Rhizome, 1.5 qian), Hong Hua (Carthamus Tinctorius Flower, 3 qian), Zhi Ke (Aurantii Fructus Immaturus, 1.5 qian).

Physicians who write books with the intention of saving lives possess a benevolent heart. They must personally treat conditions and possess methods that have proven effective repeatedly, ensuring no mistakes, before passing them on. If one does not know the source of the disease and prescribes formulas that do not match the syndrome, a heart intended to save lives becomes an instrument of death. Is this not something to fear? Regarding Cold Damage (Shang Han), Epidemic Febrile Diseases (Wen Yi), miscellaneous diseases, and gynecology, ancient masters each had their strengths; prescribing formulas according to symptoms usually yielded immediate results. Any biases they held were merely minor flaws in white jade. However, regarding Hemiplegia (Ban Shen Bu Sui), although over four hundred books were written by ancients, only a few specifically discussed this condition. Among those few, none explained the true origin of the disease. Without knowing the source, how could the prescribed formulas be correct? In my youth, when encountering this condition, I initially followed the theories of *Ling Shu*, *Su Wen*, and Zhang Zhongjing, but treatment was ineffective. Subsequently, I followed the theories of Liu Hejian, Li Dongyuan, and Zhu Danxi, yet medications still failed. After much hesitation and near-despair, I reflected that Zhang Zhongjing’s discussion on Cold Damage and Wu Youke’s *Wenyi Lun* (Treatise on Pestilential Diseases) were original insights, citing no ancient classics. I possessed the heart to save lives but lacked the means to practice medicine effectively. For every case of this condition, I studied meticulously, examining the flourishing or withering of Qi and Blood, and distinguishing the patency or obstruction of meridians. Over forty years, I gained considerable insight. I wished to share this with the world to aid future generations, but I dared not use my limited views to refute predecessors’ theories or establish new methods to incur blame. A friend said, “If you truly have firm convictions and repeatedly verified effective methods, compensating for predecessors’ omissions and relieving future difficulties, you will merit praise from posterity and be a hero of your era. What crime is there?” Hearing this, disregarding my own modesty, I illustrated and explained the origins, external symptoms, effective formulas, and prognoses (difficult vs. easy cases) of hemiplegia, leg paralysis, flaccidity, convulsions, and tendon spasms in men, women, and children. I also detailed the errors in pulse diagnosis, zang-fu theory, and meridian concepts proposed by predecessors. I present these findings in detail, awaiting contributions from experts, hoping to make even a small contribution to medical science.
