Lord Alin, the Governor-General of Jiangxi, aged seventy-four, could only sleep at night with his chest exposed; if a layer of cloth was placed over his chest, he could not sleep. This condition had persisted for seven years. I examined him and prescribed this formula, which cured him in five doses.
A twenty-two-year-old woman could only sleep at night if a female servant sat on her chest. This condition had lasted for two years. I also used this formula, and she recovered in three doses. If one were to ask them simultaneously about the cause of their illness, how would one answer?
Sweating upon waking is called spontaneous sweating (Zi Han). Waking up due to sweating is called night sweats (Dao Han), which dissipates the body's Qi and Blood. This is an unchangeable truth established since ancient times. Surprisingly, using Xuefu Zhuyu Tang (Blood Mansion Stasis-Expelling Decoction) stopped the sweating in one or two doses.
Food descends through the esophagus and should enter the throat from the center. Some individuals swallow from the right side of the throat. The esophagus lies behind the trachea, passing below the lung lobes, then turning forward, exiting below the lungs, piercing the diaphragm into the abdomen. The trachea is central. If there is blood stasis in the Blood Mansion, it pushes the esophagus to the right. In mild cases, it is easy to treat and does not hinder eating; in severe cases, it is difficult to treat as the esophagus is compressed, bent, and narrowed, hindering eating. This formula can be effective, but complete recovery is difficult.
(Also known as Lantern Disease)
The exterior of the body feels cool while the interior feels hot, hence the name Lantern Disease, caused by internal blood stasis. If regarded as deficiency heat, tonification will increase stasis; if regarded as excess fire, cooling will cause further coagulation. After three doses, blood circulation improves and heat subsides.
Inability to carry out even minor tasks smoothly indicates blood stasis, which can improve in three doses.
A person who is usually calm but becomes irritable when ill has blood stasis, which will improve in one or two doses.
Excessive dreaming during night sleep indicates blood stasis; this formula cures it in one or two doses. There are no other superior formulas.
(Commonly known as Hiccups)
Due to blood stasis in the Blood Mansion, the airway connecting the left and right bronchi above the heart is externally compressed tightly. Inhalation cannot descend and comes back up with exhalation. Therefore, treatments such as Buzong Tang, Duqi Tang, Dingxiang Shidi Tang, Fuzi Lizhong Tang, Shengjiang Xiexin Tang, Daizhe Xuanshu Tang, and Xiaoxiao Xianxiong Tang have all failed. It is traditionally believed that hiccups in the context of cold damage or epidemic diseases are fatal. Physicians, lacking effective methods in ancient texts, often abandoned treatment upon seeing this symptom. Regardless of whether it is cold damage, epidemic disease, or miscellaneous disorders, upon seeing hiccups, immediately use this formula. Regardless of severity, one dose yields immediate effect. This is my secret method.
