Wei Chen was of unknown origin and a disciple of Zhang Zhongjing. He was well-read and possessed some talent. He authored the *Si Ni San Bu Jue Jing* (Classic of Si Ni, Three Parts, and Cold Extremities), the *Fu Ren Tai Zang Jing* (Classic of Women's Uterus and Organs), and the *Xiao Er Lu Xin Jing* (Classic of Infant Cranial Fontanelle). These three volumes of prescriptions were all created by him, and he was famous in his contemporary era (from *Zhongjing Fang*).
Hua Tuo, courtesy name Yuanhua, was from Qiao County, Pei State. He had profound knowledge of medical prescriptions and was also skilled in health preservation techniques. Living to be over one hundred years old, he retained the appearance of a vigorous adult; people of the time called him an "immortal" (from *Records of the Three Kingdoms: Biography of Wei*).
Li Dangzhi was of unknown origin and a disciple of Hua Tuo. In his youth, he was familiar with medical classics and particularly proficient in pharmacology (from *Liang Qi Lu*).
Wu Pu was from Guangling and a disciple of Hua Tuo. He became known for his medical arts. His nature was tranquil and indifferent to fame, and he was skilled in medical prescriptions. Living to be over ninety years old, he remained sharp-eared and clear-eyed, with strong teeth, and was famous in his contemporary era (from *Liang Shi Lu*).
Fan A was from Pengcheng. He received instruction from Hua Tuo and subsequently became a renowned physician (from Zhang Zhan's *Yang Sheng Lun* and Hua Tuo's *Bie Lun*).
Feng Junda, known as the Green Ox Daoist, was from Longxi. He consumed Coptis Rhizome (*Coptidis Rhizoma*) for over fifty years and later entered Niao Shu Mountain where he consumed Mercury for over a hundred years. Upon returning to his hometown, he appeared to be only thirty years old. He often rode a green ox. Hearing of those suffering from illness who were near death, regardless of whether he knew them or not, he treated them with medicine, and they recovered promptly. Later, he entered Xuanqiu Mountain and ascended to become an immortal (from *Shen Xian Zhuan* and *Bo Wu Zhi*).
Han Kang, courtesy name Boxiu, was from Baling, Jingzhao. He frequently gathered herbs on famous mountains and sold them in Chang'an City. For over thirty years, he maintained fixed prices without bargaining. One day, a woman bought medicine from Han Kang. When she insisted that he did not change his price, she asked, "Are you not Han Boxiu? Why do you have no second price?" Han Kang sighed, saying, "I originally sought to avoid fame, yet even women know my name. What use is medicine now?" He then fled into the mountains of Baling, and his whereabouts became unknown (from *Gao Shi Zhuan*).
Dong Feng, courtesy name Junyi, was from Hougguan. When treating patients, he instructed them to plant five apricot trees upon recovery for severe cases, and one tree for mild cases. Within a few years, there were over one hundred thousand apricot trees. When the apricots ripened, he exchanged one container of grain for one container of apricots, using the acquired grain to relieve the poor and destitute. Dong Feng lived among humans for nearly two hundred years, retaining the complexion of a man in his thirties. One day, he raised his hand pointing to the sky, rose upright, and disappeared into the clouds (from Ge Hong's *Shen Xian Zhuan*).
The Mirror-Carrying Gentleman was from Wu State; his surname and given name are unknown. He carried a stone mill for polishing mirrors. When people suffered from illness, he would administer Zi Yuan and Chi Yuan, which invariably cured their ailments. Later, during a major epidemic, he visited homes door-to-door distributing medicine, saving tens of thousands of people without charging any money. Before leaving, he told people, "I wish to return to Penglai Mountain to bestow divine water upon you." Suddenly, white-colored water flowed down from between the rocks at the cliff head; consuming it cured most illnesses (from *Lie Xian Zhuan*).
