食治产后血结腹内冷痛，消 癖 瘕，妇人带下。漏下，丈夫久痢，并煮食之。虽形状不典，而甚益人。
蚺蛇胆 味甘、苦，气寒。有小毒。（割胆看内细如粟米，着水中浮走者为真。沉而
散者，非也。）主心腹 痛，下部 疮，目肿痛，小儿五疳。
蛇蜕 味咸、甘，气平。无毒，又云有毒。（畏磁石及酒。五月五日，十五日取之，
白如银色完全石上者佳。）主小儿百二十种惊痫螈 ，癫疾寒热，肠痔蛊毒，蛇痫。辟恶止呕逆，
明目去翳膜，火熬之良。甚疗诸恶疮。
白花蛇 味甘、咸，气温。有毒。（九月十月采捕之，火干用，去头尾，酒浸三日，
弃酒，火炙去皮骨。）主中风湿痹不仁，筋脉拘急，口眼 斜，半身不遂，骨节疼痛，疥癞暴风
瘙痒。此蛇治风速于诸蛇，然大毒，头尾各一尺尤甚，去之，只取中段用。

酒浸，去头尾，炙热去皮骨，入丸散用，亦浸酒合膏。）主诸风瘙瘾疹疥癣，皮肤不仁，顽痹诸

鲮鲤甲 气微寒，有毒。主五邪鬼魅，惊啼悲伤，及痔漏恶疮，疥癣蚁 ，烧作灰敷
之，以酒或水和服方寸匕。山瘴疟，煎汤服之，或为末酒调服。吹乳疼痛，（取甲炙黄，木通各
一两，自然铜半两，捣罗为末，每服二钱，温酒调下。）气痔下脓。（烧一两存性，豆蔻仁三枚
同为末，米饮调二钱，甚者加 皮一两，烧入。）
蠡鱼 （即鳢鱼。）味甘，气寒。无毒。（诸鱼胆皆苦，惟此胆可食。）主湿痹，
面目浮肿，下大水。疗五痔，取鱼肠以五味炙令香，以绵裹纳谷道中。一食顷虫当出。
鲫鱼 味甘，气温。（春不食其头，又不可合猪肝、雉肉食。）主诸恶疮，烧以酱
汁和涂之，或取猪脂煎用。又主肠痈。令专作羹，主胃弱不下食，调中下气补虚。作脍，主肠
水谷不调，又赤白久痢。又酿白矾烧灰，治肠风血痢。又开其腹，内少盐烧之，治齿痛。丹溪云∶
诸鱼皆属火，惟鲫鱼属土，故属阳明，而有调胃实肠之功。多食能动火，诸鱼皆然。烧灰主咳嗽，
小儿口疮，头疮，重舌目翳。

乌贼鱼骨 味咸，气微温。无毒。又云有小毒。（恶白蔹、白术、附子。）主女子
漏下赤白，经汁血闭。阴蚀肿痛，寒热 瘕，无子。惊气入腹，腹痛环脐，阴中寒肿。令人有子，
又止疮多脓汁不燥，杀虫。治心痛，消目中浮翳，细研和蜜点之。又疗牛马目中障翳，小儿痢下，
细研米饮下之。丈夫阴头痈，末粉敷之。腹中有墨，主血刺心痛，醋磨服。
鳗鲡鱼 味甘，有毒。（有五色纹者其功胜。）主五痔疮 ，杀诸虫，压诸草石药毒。
熏下部虫，疗妇人产户疮虫疰，
腰背间湿风痹常如水洗，及湿香港脚人服之良。患诸疮 及 疡风，妇人带下百病，一切风瘙如虫
行者，长食之。烧之熏膻中，断蛀虫。置其骨箱中，断白鱼诸虫咬衣服。又熏诸木竹，辟蛀虫。
又治蚊虫，取干者于室烧之，蚊化为水。
青鱼胆 主目暗，滴汁目中，并涂恶疮。
石首鱼 味甘，无毒。和 菜作羹，开胃益气。干之名为养，炙食之，消瓜成水，亦
主卒腹胀，食不消。头中有石如棋子，主下石淋，磨服之，亦烧为灰末服。
用热酒调服一钱药末，进食片刻后若出现腹痛，可以再服用一次；或者将麝香研成细末，与药末混合，用酒调服一钱，可以攻下蓄积的瘀血。这是因为苦味药物能入血分，咸味药物能克制血分。

Take one qian of the powdered medicine, mixed with hot wine. If abdominal pain occurs after a short while following a meal, another dose may be taken. Alternatively, mix musk powder with the medicine, take one qian mixed with wine to purge accumulated blood stasis. This is because bitter flavors enter the blood level, and salty flavors overcome blood stasis.
For carbuncles, swelling, and toxic sores: (Take more than ten [subject omitted in original text, inferred as a certain insect or animal], allow them to feed on the swollen area successively until they are full of blood and detach themselves. *Concha Meretricis* (Ge Li): Cold in nature, non-toxic. Zhu Danxi stated it contains fire within dampness. It relieves thirst, promotes appetite, and resolves alcohol toxicity. It treats chronic phlegm-stagnation masses that cause chills and fever, as well as blood masses in women; boil and eat. Although this substance is cold, it is incompatible with cinnabar and realgar preparations; those taking mineral drugs should avoid eating it. For burns and scalds, burn the shell to ash, grind into powder, mix with oil, and apply externally for miraculous effects.
*Concha Margaritifera* (Bang): Cold in nature, non-toxic. Zhu Danxi stated it contains fire within dampness. It treats deficiency consumptive bleeding in women, zhu diseases, metrorrhagia, and leukorrhea. It also relieves thirst, clears irritability and heat, and suppresses the toxicity of mineral drugs. Place *Rhizoma Coptidis* (Huanglian) powder inside the mussel, extract the juice, and instill into eyes for redness and blurred vision. Drink powder from rotten shells to treat retroflexion of food, phlegm-fluid retention. Additionally, mussel powder treats infantile malnutrition (gan syndrome) and stops dysentery; mix with vinegar and apply topically for carbuncles and swelling.
*Mytilus edulis* (Dan Cai): Sweet in flavor, warm in nature. Non-toxic. (Also known as "Miss of the East Sea".) It tonifies deficiency and damage of the five zang organs, regulates lumbar gout, and benefits yang. Dietary therapy for postpartum blood stagnation causing cold pain in the abdomen, eliminates phlegm-stagnation masses, treats leukorrhea and metrorrhagia in women, and chronic dysentery in men; boil and eat. Although its appearance is unrefined, it is highly beneficial to humans.
*Python molurus* bile (Ran She Dan): Sweet and bitter in flavor, cold in nature. Slightly toxic. (Cut open the gallbladder to observe; if the interior is fine like millet grains and floats when placed in water, it is genuine. If it sinks and disperses, it is not genuine.) It treats heart and abdominal pain, lower body sores, eye swelling and pain, and the five types of infantile gan syndrome.
Ophichthus skin/shed snake skin (She Tui): Salty and sweet in flavor, neutral in nature. Non-toxic, though some sources claim it is toxic. (It fears magnetite and wine. Collect on the fifth and fifteenth days of the fifth lunar month; those that are white like silver and complete on stones are best.) It treats over one hundred twenty types of pediatric convulsions and spasms, epilepsy with chills and fever, intestinal hemorrhoids, gu poison, and snake epilepsy. It dispels evil qi, stops vomiting and reflux, brightens the eyes, removes corneal opacities, and is best processed by roasting over fire. It effectively treats various malignant sores.
*Deinagkistrodon acutus* (Bai Hua She): Sweet and salty in flavor, warm in nature. Toxic. (Capture in September and October, dry by fire, remove head and tail, soak in wine for three days, discard wine, roast over fire to remove skin and bones.) It treats wind-damp bi syndrome causing numbness, tendon and vessel stiffness, deviation of the mouth and eye, hemiplegia, joint pain, and severe itching from sores and leprosy. This snake expels wind faster than other snakes but is highly toxic; the toxicity is greatest at the head and tail (one chi each), which must be removed, using only the middle section.
*Zaocys dhumnades* (Wu She): Sweet in flavor, neutral in nature. Non-toxic. (Has three ridges on the back, black color like lacquer, long and thin pointed tail is best, eyes not sunken indicates genuineness. Soak in wine, remove head and tail, roast hot to remove skin and bones, use in pills and powders, or soak in wine to make paste.) It treats various wind-induced pruritus, urticaria, tinea, skin numbness, stubborn bi syndromes, and other wind disorders. Its nature is very gentle and it does not bite objects.
*Manis pentadactyla* scales (Ling Li Jia): Slightly cold in nature, toxic. It treats five types of evil spirits and ghosts, fright crying and sadness, as well as hemorrhoids, fistulas, malignant sores, tinea, and ant erosion. Burn to ash and apply topically, or take one cubic inch spoonful mixed with wine or water. For mountain malaria, decoct in water to drink, or take powder mixed with wine. For mastalgia/painful breast swelling, (roast scales until yellow, use *Caulis Akebiae* (Mutong) and *Pyritum* (Ziran Tong) in specified amounts, grind to powder, take two qian mixed with warm wine.) For qi-type hemorrhoids with pus discharge, (burn one liang retaining its nature, mix with three cardamom seeds, grind to powder, take two qian mixed with rice water; for severe cases, add one liang of dried tangerine peel, burned and added.)
*Channa argus* (Li Yu / Black Fish): Sweet in flavor, cold in nature. Non-toxic. (The bile of most fish is bitter, but this fish's bile is edible.) It treats damp-bi, facial and ocular edema, and excessive fluid retention. Treats five types of hemorrhoids: take the fish intestines, roast with five flavors until fragrant, wrap in cotton, and insert into the anus. After a short while, worms will exit.
*Carassius auratus* (Ji Yu): Sweet in flavor, warm in nature. (Do not eat the head in spring, and do not consume with pig liver or pheasant meat.) It treats various malignant sores; burn and mix with soy sauce for topical application, or fry with lard. It also treats intestinal abscesses. Make into soup specifically to treat weak stomach with poor appetite, regulate the middle, descend qi, and tonify deficiency. Make into sashimi to treat intestinal malabsorption and chronic bloody/dysenteric stools. Stuff with alum, burn to ash, treat intestinal wind bloody dysentery. Open the belly, add little salt, burn, treat toothache. Danxi said: All fish belong to fire, except carp which belongs to earth, thus associated with Yangming, possessing the function of regulating the stomach and solidifying the intestines. Excessive consumption can generate fire, as with all fish. Burned to ash, it treats cough, pediatric oral ulcers, scalp sores, polyglottis, and corneal opacities.
*Cyprinus carpio* bile (Li Yu Dan): Bitter in flavor, cold in nature. Non-toxic. (Regardless of size, has thirty-six scales, head is toxic.) It treats hot red painful eyes, blindness, and brightens vision. Long-term consumption increases strength and boosts spirit. Instill into ears for deafness, apply to pediatric heat swelling. Meat burned to ash treats hiccups and asthma. Boiled and eaten, it treats edema and leg fullness, descends qi, and calms the fetus. Treats pregnancy-related body swelling. Do not eat after epidemic diseases.
*Sepia esculenta* bone (Wu Zei Gu): Salty in flavor, slightly warm in nature. Non-toxic, though some say slightly toxic. (Incompatible with *Radix Radicis Bupleuri* (Bailian), *Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae* (Baizhu), and *Radix Aconiti Lateralis Preparata* (Fuzi).) It treats leukorrhea with red and white discharge, amenorrhea, vaginal erosion with swelling and pain, alternating chills and fever, phlegm-stagnation masses, infertility. Fright qi entering the abdomen, periumbilical abdominal pain, cold swelling in the vagina. Promotes fertility, stops sores with excessive purulent discharge, kills parasites. Treats heart pain, reduces floating corneal opacities; grind finely, mix with honey, and instill. Also treats cataracts in cattle and horses, pediatric dysentery; grind finely, take with rice water. Apply powder to penile abscesses in men. For "ink in the abdomen" (blood stasis causing stabbing heart pain), grind with vinegar and take.
*Anguilla japonica* (Man Li Yu): Sweet in flavor, toxic. (Those with five-colored patterns have superior efficacy.) It treats five types of hemorrhoids, kills various parasites, and suppresses toxicity of herbal and mineral drugs. Smoke lower body parasites, treat female genital sores caused by parasites and zhu diseases. Effective for damp-wind bi syndrome in the waist and back feeling like water washing, and damp gout. Long-term consumption treats various sores, vitiligo, leukorrhea of all kinds, and wind-pruritus feeling like insects crawling. Burn and smoke the Shanzhong point to stop woodworms. Place bones in boxes to prevent clothes moths. Smoke wood and bamboo to repel pests. Treat mosquitoes: burn dried ones in the room, mosquitoes turn to water.
*Belonepterygion olivaceus* bile (Qing Yu Dan): Treats dim vision, instill juice into eyes, and apply to malignant sores.
*Larimichthys crocea* (Shi Shou Yu): Sweet in flavor, non-toxic. Make soup with vegetables to promote appetite and benefit qi. Dried version is called "Yang", roast and eat to dissolve melons into water, also treats sudden abdominal distension and indigestion. Has stones in the head like chess pieces, treats stone strangury; grind and take, or burn to ash and take.
