凉膈散 治三焦六经积热。加黄连名清心汤。

利膈散 治脾肺有热，虚烦上壅，咽喉生疮。
鸡苏叶 荆芥穗 防风 桔梗 牛蒡子（炒） 人参 甘草（各一两）
上为末，每服二钱，不拘时，沸汤点服。咽痛，口疮甚加僵蚕一两。

消毒犀角饮 治大人、小儿内蕴邪热，痰涎壅盛，腮项结核，口舌生疮，遍生疮疖，已
溃未溃，并宜服之。

For those with Yin deficiency fever, it is difficult to treat; for those who drink alcohol and have fever, it is difficult to treat. Heat in the palms and soles belongs to heat syndrome, use Huoyu Tang (Fire Stagnation Decoction). A rapid but forceless pulse indicates Yin deficiency; use Siwu Tang (Four Substances Decoction) added with stir-fried Huangbai (Phellodendron Bark), Huangqin (Scutellaria Root), and Guiban (Tortoise Shell); if Qi deficiency is also present, add Renshen (Ginseng), Huangqi (Astragalus Root), Huangqin (Scutellaria Root), and Baizhu (Atractylodes Macrocephala Rhizome).
Liangge San (Cooling the Diaphragm Powder) treats accumulated heat in the Triple Burner and the six meridians. Adding Huanglian (Coptis Rhizome) changes its name to Qingxin Tang (Clear Heart Decoction).
Huanglian Jiedu Tang (Coptis Decoction for Resolving Toxicity) treats irritability due to heat toxicity, dry mouth with groaning, severe internal accumulation of heat that cannot be resolved by other means.
Dajinhua Wan (Great Golden Flower Pill) treats all heat syndromes. For various internal and external heat conditions, night sweats, teeth grinding during sleep, talking or startle during sleep, hematuria, stranguria, epistaxis, emaciation, headache, bone-steaming fever, lung atrophy, and cough, remove Dahuang (Rhubarb Root) and add Zhizi (Gardenia Fruit), naming it Zhizi Jinhua Wan (Gardenia Golden Flower Pill).
Shenxiong Wan (Divine Xiong Pill) treats accumulated heat in the Heart meridian, obstruction by wind-phlegm, redness and swelling of the head and eyes, discomfort in the throat and diaphragm, and difficulty in urination and defecation. It is suitable for all wind-heat syndromes.
Huangqin Tang (Scutellaria Decoction) treats latent heat in the Heart and Lungs, mouth and throat ulcers, diaphragmatic fullness, and difficulty in urination.
Xie Xin Tang (Drain the Heart Decoction) treats latent heat in the Heart meridian.
Fuling San (Poria Powder) treats excess heat in the Heart meridian, dry mouth with irritability and thirst, and restless sleep.
Xie Bai San (Drain White Powder) treats Lung heat.
Xie Qing Wan (Drain Green Pill) treats stagnant heat in the Spleen meridian.
Xie Huang San (Drain Yellow Powder) treats Spleen heat, bad breath, and dry throat. (The above formulas are also found in the Fire section.)
Renshen Xiefei Tang (Ginseng Drain Lung Decoction) treats accumulated heat in the Lung meridian, upper asthma and cough, chest and diaphragmatic distension, excessive phlegm, and constipation.
Ingredients: Renshen (Ginseng), Huangqin (Scutellaria Root), Zhiziren (Gardenia Seed), Zhike (Bitter Orange Fruit, stir-fried), Bohe (Mint Herb), Gancao (Licorice Root), Lianqiao (Forsythia Fruit), Xingren (Apricot Seed, skin and tip removed), Sangbaipi (Mulberry Root Bark), Dahuang (Rhubarb Root), Jiegeng (Platycodon Root) (equal parts).
Take seven qian per dose, decoct in two zhan of water until reduced to eight-tenths, take orally after meals.
Tianmendong San (Asparagus Fern Powder) treats Lung congestion and brain heat, dry nose with irritability, and constipation.
Ingredients: Tianmendong (Asparagus Tuber, heart removed), Sangbaipi (Mulberry Root Bark), Shengma (Cimicifuga Rhizome), Dahuang (Rhubarb Root), Zhike (Bitter Orange Fruit, bran-fried), Gancao (Licorice Root) (each 8 fen), Jingjie (Schizonepeta Spike) (1 qian).
Decoct in two zhan of water until reduced to eight-tenths, take warm after meals.
Banxia Tang (Pinellia Decoction) treats excess heat in the Gallbladder organ, loss of mental stability, and heat-induced diarrhea.
Ingredients: Banxiaku (Pinellia Paste), Huangqin (Scutellaria Root), Jiang (Ginger, processed), Yuanzhi (Polygala Root, heart removed), Fuling (Poria), Shengdihuang (Rehmannia Root) (each 8 fen), Shumi (Millet) (1 he), Suanzaoren (Ziziphus Seed, slightly stir-fried and ground) (8 fen).
Decoct in two zhan of long-flowing water until reduced to eight-tenths, take warm after meals.
Chifuling Tang (Red Poria Decoction) treats excess heat in the Bladder organ, inability to urinate, dry mouth and bitter taste, and swollen throat with discomfort.
Ingredients: Chifuling (Red Poria), Zhuling (Polyporus), Kuizi (Abelmoschus Seed), Zhishi (Immature Bitter Orange Fruit), Qumai (Persicaria Herba), Mutong (Akebia Stem), Huangqin (Scutellaria Root), Cheqianzi (Plantago Seed), Huashi (Talcum), Gancao (Licorice Root) (equal parts).
Decoct in two zhan of water with three slices of ginger until reduced to eight-tenths, take before meals.
Sanhuang Tang (Three Yellows Decoction) treats accumulated heat stagnation, constipation, and irritability in the heart and diaphragm.
Ingredients: Huanglian (Coptis Rhizome), Huangqin (Scutellaria Root), Dahuang (Rhubarb Root, roasted) (each 10 liang).
Grind into coarse powder, take four qian per dose, decoct in one and a half zhan of water until reduced to eight-tenths, take on an empty stomach.
Longnao Jisu Wan (Borneol Mint Pill) removes irritability and heat, stagnant heat, Lung heat with cough, hematemesis and epistaxis, metrorrhagia and hypomenorrhea, heat pulse with wasting-thirst, palpitations, resolves alcohol toxicity, diaphragmatic heat, bad breath and mouth ulcers, clears the heart and brightens the eyes.
Ingredients: Boheye (Mint Leaf) (1 liang 6 qian), Shengdihuang (Rehmannia Root) (6 qian), Maimendong (Ophiopogon Tuber) (4 qian), Puhuang (Typha Pollen, stir-fried), Ejiao (Donkey-hide Gelatin, stir-fried) (each 2 qian), Huangqi (Astragalus Root) (1 qian), Renshen (Ginseng), Mutong (Akebia Stem) (each 2 qian), Yinchaihu (Cynanchum Stellatum Root, soaked with Mutong for two days to extract juice for paste), Gancao (Licorice Root) (1.5 qian).
Grind into powder, use three liang of honey, refine it, then add Rehmannia juice and other medicines, boil into a paste, form pills like paulownia seeds. Take twenty pills per dose, chew and swallow with soup.
Lige San (Diaphragm-Clearing Powder) treats heat in the Spleen and Lungs, deficiency irritability rising upward, and ulcers in the throat.
Ingredients: Jisuye (Elsholtzia Leaf), Jingjiesui (Schizonepeta Spike), Fangfeng (Saposhnikovia Root), Jiegeng (Platocodon Root), Niubangzi (Arctium Fruit, stir-fried), Renshen (Ginseng), Gancao (Licorice Root) (each 1 liang).
Grind into powder, take two qian per dose, at any time, brew with boiling water. If sore throat and mouth ulcers are severe, add Jiangcan (Bombyx Batryticatus) 1 liang.
Sanhuang Wan (Three Yellows Pill) treats accumulated heat in the Triple Burner, swelling and closure of the throat, irritability in the heart and diaphragm, red and scanty urine, and constipation.
Ingredients: Huanglian (Coptis Rhizome), Huangqin (Scutellaria Root), Dahuang (Rhubarb Root) (each 10 liang).
Grind into fine powder, make pills with refined honey, size of paulownia seeds. Take forty pills per dose, swallow with hot water.
Jiji Qingshen San (Ji Ji Clear Spirit Powder) benefits Kidney Water, descends Heart Fire, clears the upper and solidifies the lower.
Ingredients: Jiegeng (Platycodon Root), Huangqin (Scutellaria Root), Chuanxiong (Ligusticum Rhizome), Shanzhi (Gardenia Fruit), Danggui (Angelica Sinensis Root), Qianghuo (Notopterygium Rhizome), Baizhu (Atractylodes Macrocephala Rhizome), Fuling (Poria) (each 7 fen), Zhimu (Anemarrhena Rhizome), Gancao (Licorice Root), Bohe (Mint Herb) (each 5 fen).
Decoct in one and a half zhan of water until reduced to seven-tenths, add two spoons of honey, mix well, and take.
Dihuang Jian (Rehmannia Decoction) treats accumulated heat.
Ingredients: Dihuanghan (Rehmannia Sweat) (4 sheng 3 he), Fushen (Poria with Hostwood), Zhimu (Anemarrhena Rhizome) (each 4 liang), Weirui (Polygonatum Odoratum Rhizome) (4 liang), Gualougen (Trichosanthes Root), Shengjiangzhi (Fresh Ginger Juice), Shengdigupi (Rehmannia Root Bark), Shengmaidongzhi (Ophiopogon Juice), Baimi (White Honey) (each 2 sheng), Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum) (8 liang), Zhuli (Bamboo Sap) (3 he).
Grind into coarse powder, use twelve dou of water, first decoct all medicines, obtain three sheng of juice, remove dregs, add Bamboo Sap, Rehmannia, and Ophiopogon juice, boil slowly for four or five boils, add honey and ginger juice, simmer gently until six sheng remain. Initial dose is four he, taken three times a day and once at night, increase to five or seven he. In the fourth and fifth months, take as powder.
Xuanmingfen (Mirabilite Powder) treats pathogenic heat in the Triple Burner and constipation of the organs and bowels. (Formula see Preparation Methods Record Section.)
Xianglian Wan (Cinnamon and Coptis Pill) treats diaphragmatic heat and Large Intestine heat, resolves alcohol toxicity, and thickens the intestines and stomach. (Formula see Dysentery Section.)
(Bi Xue from "Good Prescriptions") treats all accumulated heat, ulcers in the throat and tongue, mental irritability, difficulty swallowing; or throat closure and obstruction; and epidemic febrile diseases causing strong coma and confusion.
Ingredients: Mangxiao (Mirabilite), Puxiao (Saltpeter), Xiaoshi (Potassium Nitrate), Mayaxiao (Marble Saltpeter), Qingdai (Indigo Naturalis), Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum, flown through water), Hanshuishi (Aragonite, ground in water and flown), Gancao (Licorice Root) (equal parts).
First decoct Licorice Root in two sheng of water, remove dregs, add other medicines, decoct again, stir constantly with a willow wood spatula until dissolved properly, then add Indigo Naturalis and mix evenly, pour into a clay basin, wait for cooling to crystallize into frost, grind into fine powder. Use a small amount, dissolve in saliva and swallow, at any time. If feeling throat obstruction and inability to swallow, blow medicine into the throat with a small bamboo tube, which will cure, blow frequently.
Xiaodu Xijiao Yin (Detoxifying Rhinoceros Horn Drink) treats adults and children with internal pathogenic heat, abundant phlegm and saliva, mumps and neck lumps, mouth and tongue ulcers, widespread sores and boils, whether ulcerated or not, all should take this.
Ingredients: Xijiao (Rhinoceros Horn, ground into juice), Fangfeng (Saposhnikovia Root) (each 1 qian), Shuniu Zi (Arctium Fruit, stir-fried) (2 qian), Jingjiesui (Schizonepeta Spike) (1 qian), Gancao (Licorice Root, honey-fried) (1 qian).
Decoct in two zhan of water until reduced to one zhan, take warm after meals.
