A native of He, named Tang, his learning explored the principles of Heaven and humanity. He was promoted to Jinshi in the Hongzhi era under the examination board led by Kang Hai, entered the Hanlin Academy, and successively rose to the position of Censor-in-Chief (Duyushi). He maintained strict personal integrity, accepting not even a single item; his adherence to the Dao was firm, never slackening throughout the day. His nature was sincere and unadorned, with no external desires. He devoted particular attention to medical texts and health preservation methods. This was likely because the Way of Medicine is closely related to life cultivation and can embody the benevolence of aiding all things. Thus, he penetrated into the subtle details, elucidated what previous sages had not yet revealed, and dispelled the obscurity for later learners. This can be understood by observing his treatises on Cold Damage (Shanghan), the Three Yang stages, coughing, and Ministerial Fire (Xianghuo). He once said that if scholars and gentlemen do not pay attention to medicine in their daily lives, when illness strikes, they entrust their lives and deaths to mediocre physicians, which would surely lead to error! His collected works are titled *San Shu of Bozhai* (Three Books of Bozhai).
A native of Huaitang, Xin'an, with the pseudonym Songya, he passed the imperial examination in the Jiachen year of the Chengzhi era under the board led by Li. He was amiable and kind-hearted, naturally fond of medical prescriptions, and harbored benevolent intentions to aid others. His authored work includes *Songya Yijing* (Medical Path of Songya), four volumes.
Surnamed Sheng, named Duanming, with the pseudonym Yuhuazi, he was a native of Chaoyang and passed the imperial examination in the Renxu year of the Hongzhi era. He was fond of medical prescriptions; when people sought treatment, regardless of their status, he immediately provided them with medicine. He attained the official rank of Minister of Rites (Libu Shangshu). He authored *Yi Chao* (Medical Excerpts), one hundred and forty volumes, as well as *Cuoyao* (Essentials) and other books.
Named Kexue, with the pseudonym Huiyan, he was a native of Wuxi and passed the imperial examination in the Yichou year of the Hongzhi era. He deeply loved medical prescriptions; upon encountering patients, regardless of their social standing, he always administered medicine. Because he presented *Yifang Xuanya* (Selected Essentials of Medical Prescriptions) and Qiushi Hongqian (Autumn Stone and Red Lead) to the Emperor, he was promoted to Minister of Rites (Libu Shangshu). He lived to be over eighty years old, and his beard and sideburns remained unwhite.
Named Yingkui, with the pseudonym Donggu, he was a native of Luoyang and passed the imperial examination in the Xinsi year of the Zhengde era. He favored medical prescriptions, taking saving lives as his heart's intent. For those who were ill, regardless of high or low status, he immediately provided formulas and medicines. He reached the rank of Minister of Revenue (Hubu Shangshu) and authored several volumes of *Yijia Dafang* (Great Principles of Family Medicine) and *Dazhi Biyong* (Essential Principles Must-Use).
Courtesy name Tianmin, with the pseudonym Hengde Laoren, he was a native of Yiwu, Zhejiang, from a family engaged in medicine for generations. Bo (personal name) was intelligent and perceptive from childhood, inherited his family's medical learning, and deeply studied the *Suwen* (Basic Questions). His therapeutic efficacy increased progressively. In his late eighties, he authored *Yixue Zhengzhuan* (Orthodox Transmission of Medicine), which is currently circulating in the world.
