The Foot-Jueyin Liver Meridian has thirteen acupoints: Dadun (Dàdūn, Greatfulfillment), Xingjian (Xíngjiàn, Moving Between), Taichong (Tàichōng, Great Surge), Lieque (Lièquē, Broken Valley - *Note: Text says "Lie", likely referring to Lieque or a typo in original context, but standard Liver meridian does not include Lieque. Translating literally as per source*), Zhongfeng (Zhōngfēng, Central Seal), Ligou (Lígōu, Worm Channel), Zhongdu (Zhōngdū, Central Capital), Xiguan (Xīguān, Knee Pass), Ququan (Qǔquán, Curling Spring), Xinneizhe (*Note: Non-standard name, retained as is*), Yinbao (Yīnbāo, Yin Wrap), Wuli (Wǔlǐ, Five Miles), Shangyinlian (Shàngyīnlián, Upper Yin Tightness), Zhangmen (Zhāngmén, Gate of Chapter), and Qimen (Qīmén, Door of Hope), which penetrate through the diaphragm upwards.
Dadun is located at the lateral corner of the big toe where hair gathers; Xingjian is at the tip of the interdigital space where the artery beats; behind Taichong, there is a collateral vessel spanning five convergence points, and the Taichong pulse can serve as a basis for judgment; Zhongfeng is directly anterior to the medial malleolus; Ligou is five cun above the medial malleolus; Zhongdu is located in the region of Fuliu (Fùliú, Abundant Stream); Yinlingquan (Yínlíngquán, Yin Nourishing Spring) is located in the two depressions at the medial condyle of the tibia; carefully search two cun above the medial malleolus, opposite the Shaoyin (Kidney) meridian, within the Chong bone; Xiguan is two cun below Dubi (Dúbí, Lone Peak); Ququan is found between the two tendons at the head of the popliteal crease when the knee is flexed; Yinbao is four cun above the patella, seek its position between the tendons on the medial aspect of the thigh; Wuli is one and half cun medial to Qichong (Qìchōng, Qi Rush), descending three cun along the medial thigh; Yinlian is located at the inguinal crease; Zhangmen is measured two cun above the umbilicus; measure eight cun horizontally to look at both sides, Qimen is one cun lateral to each nipple, descend two cun to the second intercostal space carefully, this is the location of the Foot-Jueyin Liver Meridian.
The fifteen collaterals are the divergent collaterals of the twelve meridians that connect with each other. The three special collaterals refer to the collaterals of the Ren Mai (Conception Vessel) and Du Mai (Governing Vessel), and the large collateral of the Spleen; they command all yin and yang collaterals and irrigate the Zang-Fu organs. The *Nan Jing* (Classic of Difficult Issues) refers to these three collaterals as those of the Yang Qiao and Yin Qiao vessels. I have examined them and found no specific acupoints to point to, nor are these two Qiao vessels part of the fourteen regular meridians. The *Zhenjiu Jieyao* (Essentials of Acupuncture and Moxibustion) considers the Ren collateral to be Pingyi (Píngyì, Screen Shade) and the Du collateral to be Changqiang (Chángqiáng, Long Strength), which indeed aligns with the correct principles of the *Shisi Jing Fahui* (Elucidation of the Fourteen Meridians). Adding the large collateral of the Spleen named Dabao (Dàbāo, Great包裹), this completes the fifteen collaterals. The divergent collateral of the Hand-Taiyin Lung Meridian is Lieque; that of the Foot-Yangming Stomach Meridian is Fenglong (Fēnglóng, Windful); that of the Hand-Yangming Large Intestine Meridian is Pianli (Piānlì, Oblique Benefit); that of the Foot-Taiyin Spleen Meridian is Gongsun (Gōngsūn, Duke Sun); that of the Hand-Shaoyin Heart Meridian is Tongli (Tōnglǐ, Connecting Interior); that of the Foot-Taiyang Bladder Meridian is Feiyang (Fēiyáng, Flying Yang); that of the Hand-Taiyang Small Intestine Meridian is Zhengzheng (Zhīzhèng, Branching Correctness); that of the Foot-Shaoyin Kidney Meridian is Dazhong (Dàzhōng, Great Bell); that of the Hand-Jueyin Pericardium Meridian is Neiguan (Nèiguān, Inner Pass); that of the Foot-Shaoyang Gallbladder Meridian is Guangming (Guāngmíng, Bright Light); that of the Hand-Shaoyang Sanjiao Meridian is Waiguan (Wàiguān, Outer Pass); that of the Foot-Jueyin Liver Meridian is Ligou. The divergent collateral of the Ren Mai is Pingyi, the large collateral of the Spleen Meridian is Dabao, and the divergent collateral of the Du Mai is Changqiang.
The Ren Mai (Conception Vessel) is one of the Eight Extraordinary Vessels. It originates below the Zhongji acupoint, ascends to the pubic hairline, follows the interior of the abdomen up to Guanyuan, and reaches the throat. It belongs to the Sea of Yin Meridians. The Ren and Du meridians are the guidelines of yin and yang in the human body, originating from one source but branching into two, just as Taiji generates Liangyi (Two Modes). The Du Meridian travels along the back from Huiyin, while the Ren Meridian travels along the abdomen from Huiyin. The existence of Ren and Du in the human body is analogous to Zi and Wu (North and South) in heaven and earth; the Ren and Du are discussed in terms of abdomen and back, while Zi and Wu are discussed in terms of north and south; they can be separated or combined. Separated, they show that yin and yang do not mix; combined, they show seamless unity; they are one becoming two, and two becoming one. Calling the Ren Meridian the "Sea of Yin Meridians" is because it gathers all yin meridians; thus it is called the Sea of Yin Meridians and runs along the midline of the front of the body. There are twenty-four acupoints in total.
Huiyin (also known as Pingyi), located between the anus and genitals, is the origin of the Ren, Du, and Chong (Penetrating) meridians. The Ren Meridian proceeds from Huiyin along the abdomen, the Du Meridian from Huiyin along the back, and the Chong Meridian from Huiyin along the Foot-Shaoyin direction. Needling is prohibited; moxibustion of three moxa cones is applied.
【Indications】Sweating in the genital area, pain in the vagina, various diseases causing牵引 (traction/pulling) sensations between front and rear, inability to urinate or defecate, chronic anal diseases leading to fistula formation with hemorrhoids, dysmenorrhea, and amenorrhea in women.
Qugu, located above the pubic bone, one cun below Zhongji, in the depression at the pubic hairline where the artery is palpable. It is the meeting point of the Foot-Jueyin Liver Meridian and the Ren Meridian. Needle one cun, moxibustion seven cones.
【Indications】Abdominal fullness and strangury, hernia with lower abdominal pain, seminal emission due to deficiency-cold, leukorrhea (red and white discharge) in women.
Zhongji (also known as Yuquan, Qiyuan), located one cun below Guanyuan, four cun below the umbilicus. It is the Front-Mu point of the Bladder and the meeting point of the Foot-Taiyin, Foot-Shaoyin, Foot-Jueyin meridians and the Ren Meridian. Needle eight fen, moxibustion one hundred cones.
【Indications】Cold qi accumulating and rushing upward to the heart, seminal emission and infertility, masses below the umbilicus, Ben Tun (Rushing Pig) hernia, abdominal masses, postpartum lochia retention, retained placenta, irregular menstruation, blood stasis forming masses, swelling and pain of the uterine opening, bladder distension preventing urination.
Guanyuan, located three cun below the umbilicus. It is the Front-Mu point of the Small Intestine and the meeting point of the Foot-Taiyin, Foot-Shaoyin, Foot-Jueyin meridians and the Ren Meridian. Needle eight fen, moxibustion seven cones.
