San Sheng Yin [Commentary] (Note: This formula is a general remedy for various types of wind-phlegm qi-jue, specifically for the initial stage where patients are unconscious and unaware of their surroundings.)
It treats stroke causing unconsciousness and loss of awareness, deviation of the mouth and eyes, hemiplegia, stridor resembling a sawing sound, and upward obstruction by phlegm and saliva. It is suitable regardless of external contraction of wind-cold or internal injury from anger and joy, whether the pulse is deep and hidden in all six positions or floating and vigorous under the fingers. It also treats phlegm-jue, qi-jue, and dizziness caused by qi deficiency. If the condition is directly due to qi deficiency with invasion of wind pathogen, add Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix) 1 liang.
Tian Nan Xing (Arisaema Rhizoma) (1 liang) Chuan Wu (Aconiti Radix) (peeled and tip removed) Hei Fu Zi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata) (peeled and tip removed, each 5 qian) Mu Xiang (Vladimiriae Radix) (2 qian 5 fen)
Crush the above herbs into coarse powder, add 10 slices of fresh ginger, decoct with water, and take warm. For individuals with excessive qi, use only Tian Nan Xing 5 qian, Mu Xiang 1 qian, and 14 slices of fresh ginger, decoct with water, and take.
Wu Yao Shun Qi San
It treats men and women suffering from wind pathogen attacking and penetrating, causing numbness over the whole body, soreness and pain in bone joints, paralysis of hands and feet, slurred speech, spasm of sinews and vessels, difficulty in walking, weakness of legs and knees; women with irregular blood and qi, distension and fullness in the chest and diaphragm; stabbing pain in the heart and abdomen, vomiting, diarrhea, and borborygmus. In treating wind diseases, one must first regulate qi; when qi flows smoothly, phlegm dissipates naturally, and wind scatters.
Ma Huang (Ephedrae Herba) (nodes removed) Chen Pi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium) (white pith removed) Wu Yao (Linderae Radix) (each 2 qian) Chuan Xiong (Chuanxiong Rhizoma) Bai Zhi (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix) Jiang Can (Bombyx Batryticatus) (stir-fried) Zhi Ke (Aurantii Fructus Immaturus) (bran-fried) Jie Geng (Platycodonis Radix) (radicle removed, each 1 qian) Gan Jiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma) (processed, 5 fen) Gan Cao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) (honey-fried, 3 fen)
Crush the above herbs into coarse powder, add 3 slices of fresh ginger and 2 black dates, add 2 zhong of water, decoct until 8 fen remains, and take warm. If accompanied by aversion to cold and high fever, limb fatigue, add Cong Bai (Allii Fistulosi Bulbus). If there is itching over the whole body, add Bo He (Menthae Haplocalycis Herba). If there is spasm of hands and feet, add Mu Xiang (Vladimiriae Radix) and Shi Hu (Dendrobii Caulis). If there is dampness, add Cang Zhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma), Bai Zhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma), and Bing Lang (Arecae Semen). If feet are swollen, add Niu Xi (Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix), Wu Jia Pi (Acanthopanacis Cortex), and Du Huo (Angelicae Pubescentis Radix). If there is pain over the whole body, add Dang Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), Guan Gui (Cinnamomi Cortex),
