Shen Su Yin (Decoction of Perillae and Panax)
Treats children's wind-cold injury, cold damage, fever, cough, phlegm-saliva wheezing, and when smallpox/rash is not yet clear, amidst suspicion, this medicine is most stable.

Crush the herbs, decoct in water, and take mixed with medicine.
San Su Bing (Three Paste Cakes)
Used during initial fever to induce sweating, resolve toxicity, and make smallpox lesions sparse.
Chen Sha (Cinnabaris, contained in silk bag, boiled with Shengma, Ma Huang, Zi Cao, Lizhi Qiao for one day and night, ground fine; then decoct the four ingredients again, filter, dry, grind extremely fine, and knead into cakes using Chan Su); Zi Cao (Arnebiae Radix seu Lithospermi Radix, ground fine, kneaded into cakes with Chan Su); Ma Huang (Ephedrae Herba, nodes removed, soaked/scalded, dried, ground fine, kneaded into cakes with Chan Su); Chan Su (Toad Venom, collected on Dragon Boat Festival day, kneading the above three medicines into cakes, adding a little She Xiang (Moschus) per cake is better).
In the above formula, Chen Sha resolves fetal toxicity and cools Heart Fire; processed, it also promotes eruption. Zi Cao resolves toxicity and promotes eruption. Ma Huang induces sweating and promotes eruption. Chan Su best removes internal organ toxins, expelling them as foul sweat through hair follicles. This is truly a divine formula for resolving toxicity and thinning smallpox. In cases of epidemic malignant smallpox, at the onset of fever, for every three years of age, take 1 fen of each of the three cakes (adjust up or down by age), dissolve in hot wine, drink, cover thickly to sweat. Those who cannot drink alcohol should dissolve in Baidu San, which is especially good. If lesions have erupted, covering the scalp with red-purple indicating heat toxicity, decoct Zi Cao Hong Hua Tang (Arnebiae/Lithospermi Radix and Carthami Flos Decoction) or Huadu Tang (Resolving Toxicity Decoction) to dissolve the cakes for detoxification. Additionally, for newborns, mix 1 fen of Chen Sha Bing with honey to resolve fetal toxicity; eruptions will surely be sparse. These are all excellent methods. Ma Huang Bing is contraindicated after eruptions.
Xi Dou San (Smallpox-Thinning Powder)
Take before eruptions appear during fever; it best thins the smallpox.
Chen Sha (Cinnabaris, boiled with Shengma, Ma Huang, Zi Cao, Lizhi Qiao for one day and night, ground fine; decoct the four ingredients again, filter, dry, grind extremely fine, 6 qian); Tian Ling Gai (Skull of Human Infant, preferably from a healthy child, cleaned, smeared with She Xiang, roasted until yellow, ground fine, 3 qian).
Mix the two ingredients evenly, grind extremely fine. During fever before eruptions, decoct Zi Cao, Shengma, Zi Su, Cong Bai soup, or mix with Baidu San to take. Dosage: 1 fen per year of age.
Liu Yi San (Six-to-One Powder)
Treats excessive heat toxicity, delirious speech, craving drinks, and smallpox lesions turning red, purple, black, and sunken.
Hua Shi (Talcum, white and greasy, ground fine, wet-processed, dried, re-ground, 6 liang), Bing Pian (Borneolum Syntheticum, 3 fen, added last and ground evenly), Fen Cao (Licorice Root finest powder, ground extremely fine, 6 qian), Chen Sha (Cinnabaris, bright, wet-processed, 3 qian).
First, grind half of the Hua Shi and Gan Cao powders evenly, then add Bing Pian and grind evenly to make Liu Yi San, treating smallpox red/purple/black/sunken lesions with heat and thirst. The remaining half, mixed with Chen Sha, makes Chen Sha Liu Yi San, treating fright and delirium. At the onset of fever, taking this mixed with Baidu San can also resolve toxicity and thin smallpox. After eruptions, if red/purple indicates heat toxicity, in spring and autumn, decoct Deng Cao (Junci Medulla) tea, cool, and take mixed; in summer, use fresh well water. Dosage: 1 qian for 3-5 years old, 2 qian for 10 years old.
Shenjie Tang (Divine Resolution Decoction)
Treats children's fever and lower back pain when smallpox is about to erupt.
Chai Hu (Bupleuri Radix, 1.5 qian), Gan Ge (Puerariae Radix, 1 qian), Chuan Xiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma, 8 fen), Bai Fu Ling (Poria, 8 fen), Ma Huang (Ephedrae Herba, nodes removed, 8 fen), Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma, 8 fen), Fang Feng (Saposhnikoviae Radix, 8 fen), Gan Cao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, 5 fen).
Crush into one dose, add 1.5 zhong of water. First boil Ma Huang to remove white foam, then decoct until 0.8 zhong remains. Drink hot, lie under covers to induce sweating. Stop when lower back pain ceases; if not, take another dose to prevent smallpox from emerging from the Kidney Meridian. This method is very unique.
Shengong San (Divine Merit Powder) (Passed down by Prefect He)
If taken at the first sign of fever, eruptions will not appear; if signs (bumps) are seen, taking it disperses toxins; if sunken, taking it raises them.
Chuan Xiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma, 6 liang), Dang Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix, 6 liang), Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma, 6 liang), Gan Cao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, 6 liang).
Grind into fine powder. Together, decoct three times with East-flowing stream water, 3 bowls each time. Use medium-low heat to reduce to 1.5 bowls per decoction. Filter. Decoct twice more. Total liquid: 4.5 bowls. Take 4 liang of good Zhu Sha (Cinnabaris), hang in a silk bag inside a porcelain jar, add the decocted liquid, seal tightly, and boil until liquid is exhausted. Remove, bake dry, grind to powder, sieve with paper. Then use Yinjing San (Meridian-Guiding Powder): take 2-3 he of glutinous rice, wrap tightly in paper, seal with yellow mud, roast in fire until red, cool, crush, and use only the rice-yellow part, not white. Each dose: mix 1 qian Zhu Sha powder, 1 qian rice powder, 2 spoons refined honey, 2 spoons good wine, 1 small zhong boiling water. Mix well, feed with a tea spoon until effect is achieved.
Huangbai Gao (Phellodendron Ointment)
Treats initial smallpox eruptions. Apply this ointment to the face first. If applied too early, smallpox will not grow on the face; if applied too late, although they emerge, they will be sparse.
Huang Bai (Phellodendri Cortex, 1 liang), Hong Hua (Carthami Flos, 2 liang), Gan Cao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, raw, 4 liang), Lv Dou Fen (Vigna Radiata Starch, 4 liang).
Grind into powder, mix with Sesame Oil to form ointment. Apply to areas from front of ears, eyes, lips, and face. Apply 3-5 times daily.
