Taiyang disease (Disease of the Taiyang channel), after sweating therapy, perspiration continues unceasingly. The patient experiences aversion to wind, difficulty in urination, slight stiffness and tension in the four limbs, making flexion and extension difficult. This formula is indicated for such conditions.
Guizhi Tang (Cinnamon Twig Decoction) plus one Fuzi (Prepared Lateral Root of Aconitum), processed, skin removed, broken into eight pieces. Decoct and take as usual; there is no need to drink hot porridge to assist sweating.
Ke Yunbo stated: Excessive sweating causes Yang Qi to lose its anchorage and dissipate, resulting in unceasing perspiration. Profuse sweating leads to the loss of Yang Qi, failure of the pores (Xuanfu) to close, and invasion of Wind pathogen due to deficiency... [Text contains lacunae/interpolations].
Indicated for cases where excessive sweating has caused the patient to cross their hands over the heart region, experiencing palpitations that are relieved by pressure.
Guizhi (Cinnamon Twig) (4 liang) Gancao (Licorice Root), roasted (2 liang).
The above two ingredients are decocted in three sheng of water to obtain one sheng. Take in a single dose.
Ke Yunbo stated: Profuse sweating depletes Heart fluids, leading to insufficiency of Heart Qi and thus palpitations. Crossing hands over the chest provides external protection, while pressure provides internal support... [Text contains lacunae/interpolations].
When the pathogenic factor is resolved after sweating, but aversion to cold persists, it indicates deficiency. This formula is indicated.
Shaoyao (White Peony Root) (3 liang) Gancao (Licorice Root), roasted (2 liang) Fuzi (Prepared Lateral Root of Aconitum) (1 piece, processed, skin removed, broken into eight pieces).
The above three ingredients are decocted in five sheng of water to obtain one sheng and five he. Strain the dregs and take warm in divided doses.
Ke Yunbo stated: Resolution of the pathogen after sweating yet persistence or worsening of aversion to cold indicates obvious Yang deficiency. The Taiyang and Shaoyin channels are exterior-interior partners... [Text contains lacunae/interpolations].
Indicated for fluid retention in the Qi level, characterized by hardness below the heart, large as a plate, with edges like an inverted cup.
Guizhi (Cinnamon Twig) (3 liang) Shengjiang (Fresh Ginger) (3 liang) Gancao (Licorice Root), roasted (2 liang) Dazao (Jujube) (12 pieces) Mahuang (Ephedra Herb) (2 liang) Xixin (Asarum Root) (2 liang) Fuzi (Prepared Lateral Root of Aconitum) (1 piece, processed, skin removed, broken into eight pieces).
The above seven ingredients are decocted in seven sheng of water. First decoct Mahuang, remove the foam, then add the remaining herbs. Decoct to obtain two sheng. Take warm in three divided doses. Sweating should occur, accompanied by a sensation like insects crawling under the skin... [Text contains lacunae/interpolations].
Ke Yunbo stated: Fluid retention is governed by Shaoyin. The area below the heart belongs to Taiyang. When fluid retention exists below the heart, becoming hard and large as a plate, it reflects on the Qi of the five Zang organs... [Text contains lacunae/interpolations].
