(Treating early-stage external lesions characterized by indurated swelling and pale color.)
Chi Shao (Radix Paeoniae Rubrae, 2 liang) Bai Zhi (Rhizoma Angelicae Dahuricae) Fang Feng (Radix Saposhnikoviae), each 1 liang; Du Huo (Radix Angelicae Pubescentis, 3 liang); Long Nao (Borneol, 3 qian); Shi Chang Pu (Rhizoma Acori Tatarinowii, 1.5 liang 5 qian).
Process each into pure powder. Store in a porcelain bottle, ensuring it is airtight. When using, mix with ginger juice and brine vinegar to apply topically. Change once daily.
(For cases where the Huantiao (GB30) acupoint area, as well as the areas around both knees near the tibia/femur, are affected by wind-cold-dampness, without facial heat, presenting as diffuse swelling without a head, unchanged skin color, and slight soreness, pain, or spasmodic stiffness. If not treated immediately, it may develop into deep-seated bone abscesses (tie gu yong), which are difficult to cure. Urgently use this medicine to dispel cold, drive out dampness, penetrate the exterior collaterals, and guide the toxin to other locations for discharge. Even if fistulas or sinus tracts have formed, gradual healing can be achieved. It has proven effective in repeated use.)
Zi Jing Pi (Cortex Buddlejae Officinalis, 5 liang, stir-fried); Chi Shao Yao (Radix Paeoniae Rubrae, 2 liang, stir-fried); Xiang Bai Zhi (Rhizoma Angelicae Dahuricae, 1 liang, sun-dried, avoid fire-roasting); Du Huo (Radix Angelicae Pubescentis, 1.5 liang, stir-fried); Shi Chang Pu (Rhizoma Acori Tatarinowii).
Prepare the above herbs according to the aforementioned method, grind them together into powder, and sieve finely. Mix with good-quality wine and five stalks of scallion, boil until rolling, then apply topically. There is no need to leave the center uncovered. Change once daily, until the swelling subsides and pain ceases.
Sheng Da Huang (Radix et Rhizoma Rhei Palmati). Select whole pieces, wrap tightly in green cloth, and on the noon hour of the fifth day of the fifth lunar month, immerse in an open-air latrine pit. Retrieve on the noon hour of the twelfth day.
(Treating all types of carbuncles and sores with diffuse swelling without a head, and loose roots that do not consolidate. Apply this paste to the surrounding area of the lesion.)
Hu Huang Lian (Rhizoma Coptidis Chinensis, roasted); Fu Rong Ye (Folium Hibisci Mutabilis, dried until crisp or baked); Er Cha (Arborvitae Seed Extract); Zhen Xiong Dan (Ursus Bile); Wen Ge (Concha Meretricis, roasted black); Zhen Xi Huang (Calculus Bovis, each 3 qian); Chen Sha (Cinnabar, processed with water, each ground into fine powder).
Grind each herb into fine powder separately, mix evenly, and further pulverize in a mortar. Take Sheng Da Huang (Radix et Rhizoma Rhei Palmati, 5 qian), one cup of brine vinegar, and the juice from two healthy pig gallbladders. Boil these three ingredients into a thick paste to form tablets.
(Treating all types of yin abscesses that are pale in color, fail to suppurate, and show signs of internal collapse. Internal administration provides immediate rescue. It is also suitable for cold-congestion phlegm nodules that are deep-rooted and difficult to ulcerate. Administer alternately with Xi Wan (see No. 5) for efficacy.)
Shu Di Huang (Radix Rehmanniae Preparata, 1 liang); Bai Jie Zi (Semen Sinapis Albae, 2 qian); Lu Jiao Jiao (Corpus Cornu Cervi Colla, 3 qian); Rou Gui (Cortex Cinnamomi); Sheng Gan Cao (Radix Glycyrrhizae Preparata), each 1 qian; Jiang Tan (Carbonized Ginger); Ma Huang (Herba Ephedrae), each 5 fen.
Decoct with half water and half wine for oral administration. Adding Zhi Ban Xia (Rhizoma Pinelliae Preparata, 1.5 qian) and Chen Pi (Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae, 8 fen) yields superior results.
