Any toxic sores arise from a deficiency of blood and qi; the stagnation of blood and qi is the cause of the onset of toxins. In the initial stage, one should resolve (dispel pathogens); after three to five days, regulate and tonify blood and qi. If cold-cooling herbs are used excessively, the stomach qi will be injured, rendering it incurable.
A pulse that is surging, slippery, coarse, and scattered indicates a difficult cure; a pulse that is faint, choppy, and slow indicates an easy recovery.
Formula for treating nameless swelling and toxicity:
Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma) (5 qian), Huang Qi (Astragali Radix) (1 liang), Rou Gui (Cinnamomi Cortex), Da Huang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma) (5 qian), Ma Huang (Ephedrae Herba) (2 qian).
Decoct in water and take orally.
The face is the convergence point of all yang meridians, where pathogens cannot reside. Sores on the face indicate that pathogenic yang is excessive while healthy yang is deficient.
Effective formula for treating back carbuncle (Fabei Ju) and various types of swelling and toxicity:
Da Huang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma) (3 liang), Bei Mu (Fritillariae Bulbus), Lian Qiao (Forsythiae Fructus), Bai Zhi (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix) (each 1 liang).
Grind into powder, take 3 qian per dose, administer with aged wine, up to the point of mild intoxication.
For Yangmei Chuang (Syphilis/Kapok Ulcer), Shiquan Dabu Tang (Ten-Ingredient Decoction for Great Tonification) is suitable. Use 1 qian of each ingredient, add Tu Fuling (Smilax Glabrae Rhizoma) 4 qian, and Jin Yin Hua (Lonicerae Japonicae Flos) 2 qian. Take frequently.
For hemorrhoids, mix rabbit feces and Ru Xiang (Olibanum) into powder, take with wine, three times daily, until cured. Alternatively, use Shui Yang Mei (Myrica rubra) in any quantity, decoct in water, and wash the affected area three to five times for immediate effect.
For Dou Yong (Pustular disease/Carbuncle), stir-fry Sesame seeds until smoke ceases, retain the white color, pound into a paste, and apply topically to eliminate the lesion.
Bleeding from within the mouth, or from urination and defecation, is considered incurable.
Verified Case Records:
One patient had a back sore that failed to heal. Fresh black carp skin was applied over it, changed three to four times daily, resulting in wound closure.
One patient suffered from hemorrhoids with excessive blood loss leading to sallow complexion. This indicated sinking of spleen qi; the treatment principle was to raise yang. Bu Zhong Yi Qi Tang (Tonify the Middle and Augment the Qi Decoction) was modified with Wu Wei Zi (Schisandrae Chinensis Fructus) 0.3 fen and Xi Xin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma) 0.1 fen.
One patient suffered from generalized wind-xuan (pruritic dermatosis) with alternating chills and fever. Guishen (Radix Angelicae Sinensis - root portion) 3 qian, Chi Shao (Paeoniae Radix Rubra) 3.5 qian, Gan Cao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma), Bai Zhi (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix), Yi Yi Ren (Coicis Semen), and Shen Qu (Massa Medicata Fermentata) each 1 qian were prescribed. After taking thirty doses, the patient recovered.
