Commentary states: Rushi (Mineral drugs, mostly silicates) originally possess a hot and fierce nature. If users fail to adjust properly or maintain irregular eating habits, heat toxins may erupt without a specific outlet, leading to acute carbuncles, back sores (Fabei), intestinal abscesses, or the discharge of pasty urine. These conditions are difficult to treat comprehensively. Occasionally, even those who have never taken Rushi may experience similar ulceration and pus discharge due to long-term accumulation of heat toxins in the Zang-Fu organs. Alternatively, this may stem from inheriting the mineral qi during fetal development. The treatment method should first employ purgative and draining agents to neutralize the toxin, followed by external application therapies.
Formula for treating Rushi-induced carbuncles, back sores, and various swellings: Wuxiang Liaoqiao Tang (Five-Aroma Forsythia Decoction)
Liaoqiao (Forsythiae Fructus, remove stems), Muxiang (Aucklandiae Radix), Chenxiang (Aquilariae Lignum Resinatum), Xunluxiang (Boswelliae Resina, ground), Shexiang (Moschus, ground), Shegan (Belamcandae Rhizoma), Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma), Duhuo (Angelicae Pubescentis Radix, remove rhizome head), Sangjisheng (Taxilli Herba, chopped), Mutong (Akebiae Caulis, chopped, each 3 liang), Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, chopped 3 liang), Dingxiang (Caryophylli Flos, 1 liang).
The above twelve herbs, except Moschus, are coarsely crushed and sifted, then mixed evenly. Each dose consists of 5 qianbi (approx. 5 grams), boiled with 2 zhan (approx. 400ml) of water until reduced to 1.5 zhan. Strain the dregs, add 2 fen of Zhuli (Bambusae Sap), boil again, and take warm at any time.
