Discourse states: Li Jie Feng (a disease characterized by severe pain and deformity in multiple joints throughout the body) arises from the weakness of blood and qi, which allows wind-cold pathogens to invade. This causes blood and qi to stagnate and become obstructed, preventing smooth circulation in the joints. The sinews fail to receive nourishment, and the righteous qi contends with the pathogenic factors. All joints affected by this contention suffer from pain; hence it is called Li Jie Feng. When the pain is severe, it causes shortness of breath and sweating, and renders the limbs and joints unable to flex or extend.
