Commentary states: The *Huangdi Zhenjing* (Yellow Emperor's Classic of Acupuncture) records that Zhou Bi (Generalized Bi Syndrome) resides within the blood vessels, moving upward along the meridians and downward along the meridians. It does not spread to the left or right but remains localized in its specific position. Although wind-cold-dampness pathogenic factors causing Bi syndrome typically result in local obstruction and blockage, when it affects the entire body from top to bottom, it is because the pathogen has invaded the space between the blood vessels, merging with the flow of qi and blood in the meridians, and circulating freely with the ascending and descending movement of qi without hindrance. Therefore, if pain develops from upper to lower, one should first needle the lower area to restrain the pathogen, then needle the upper area to expel it; if pain develops from lower to upper, one should first needle the upper area to restrain the pathogen, then needle the lower area to expel it. Specific needling methods are attached in the external section on acupuncture and moxibustion; here, only herbal treatment is described.
