Discourse states: Hong Kong foot (Gouty Arthritis) differs in dry and wet types, which stems from the differentiation of Yin and Yang. Disease in the Zang organs belongs to Yin, while disease in the Fu organs belongs to Yang. However, both are caused by Wind-Dampness-Toxic Qi invading due to deficiency. The symptoms are largely similar with minor differences. Thus, the presentation of Dry Hong Kong Foot includes: blood vessels being obstructed and sluggish, skin numbness and bi-syndrome (obstruction syndrome), thin and sore calves, decreased appetite and emaciation, stagnation of the Zang-Fu organs, and upward rushing causing irritability and oppression. The presentation of Wet Hong Kong Foot includes: initial swelling of the feet, or downward flow leading to sores, muscle sweating, hot and painful feet, upward attack on the heart and abdomen, coughing and wheezing, facial edema and knee swelling, and vomiting upon seeing food.
